Prices nor species details are never accurately labeled. Very limited cichlid selection. The fish are small and have questionable tank mates. Salt water is $2 a gallon, twice as much as the going rate. Young lady, the shop proprietor, informed me they are more geared towards nano fish, shrimp and plants. Which is odd because there is only a handful of stocked nano tanks upon entry and 2 plant tanks nestled in a corner in the back. Most stock is mass produced and imported from Southeast Asia. Store has so much potential with its large footprint. Try Nolan's Aquariums or Reef Tropical for a well stocked cichlid section, that's mostly bred and raised in hard Southern California water. read more

Went to the store to look around, the front section was nice til we got to the back store and immediately saw dirty fish tanks, dead turtles, a whole tank with dead, guppy fish, and I wouldn't notice until I got to my tippy toes cause it was on the top shelf, and I wanted to see if there were crabs. Went to Cali's Tropical Fish Store for live plants, shrimp, and driftwood. Its a nice size store with a great variety of products. They have saltwater and freshwater livestock to choose from. They have a great selection of plants and many colored shrimp from blue, orange, red, and more. I was helped out by Dennis who was super cool and very knowledgeable. He explained the different grades of shrimp and I ended up getting 10 Fire Red Cherry Shrimp which are a notch above the basic cherry shrimp. He also explained the differences in plant species and how they absorb nutrients via water or through the roots. I left with plants, shrimp, and driftwood. I will definitely be coming back here as my go to for livestock and plants. Avoid big retailers and support your local fish store. They are the pros and really show it through the knowledge and customer service. read more

Bought $700+ fish tank with stand and all the filter system as one unit. They delivery and set up. It ran for 1 week then I woke up in the morning and my house was flooded with 5-7 gallon of water all over the hardwood floor. After cleaning I saw the return hose has fell off and overflow the filter tank. We mentioned to the owner what happened and reattached the hose back to the pump as instructed. Then another week later woke up and it flooded all over my living room again with more than 7-8 gallons now. Left messages and call but no reply. Finally one guy came by and said all these things that we should've done like fill up the filter tank to the right amount of water which we already did. Everything was correct as when they set it up. He then told us its not his problem and call pump manufacturer etc. He would not help or any guidance. He said he's just a retail any problem contact manufacture. He also said this happened before and just reattached the hose. Then later stated other customer can do it them selves. We were so confused about it since the tank was only bought two weeks ago. No help with no return or assistant. Service was decent until this problem and just shove us away like its not their problem. There's not even a manufacture name on the unit which he did'nt even try to help us by providing a name. Honestly we don't really know what to do after spending so much money at his shop and often go buy additional fish there too. Just we aware they can be nice at first but don't really care. read more

The store has remodeled since the last time I went pre-covid two years ago. I moved to inland empire but love to stop by here when im in Orange county. Theres so many well maintained tanks. I forgot to take pictures but this shop is a fish enthusiasts dream. I came for shrimp and tetras but decided to wait until my shrimps settled. So many rare varieties and fun to look around.
