They nice lady took care of me and answered all my questions I had. She was not pushing products in my face while I looked around, so I really appreciate that.

I think the fish I bought Tuesday 5 days ago are dying. I tested the water and it's perfect.

I bought my four goldfish on Tuesday. This past week. The lady was so so nice and helpful. But I think my fish are dying. She told me I might have a parasite I. The tank and I have treated the tank and nothing. My fish don't swim very much they either stay at the bottom or float at the top. The lady who helped told me to keep an eye on them to see a difference but I can't tell any difference. I spent $70.00 4 gold fish water testers and so on. I don't think they'll make it past this week.

I love this place. Came here for fancy tiny shrimps, and eventually came back for Bettas. I'm not gonna lie, my Betta's are pretty good looking. One is a mermaid, another is purple, and the last is just bursting with colors! When I was there the owner was very supportive and if you're serious then she knows everything you'll need for your fish. The lady is my favorite. Although it looks locked and everything, they open for limited occupancy access. I took the kids here before Chinese New Years and got 3 of these beautiful betta's and a kit with it too. All reasonably priced. During Quarantine, a betta is a VeRY GOOD SCReEN BREAk distraction for your child. I'm serious, I keep them right next to each of their monitors with this distance learning business we live in. Anyways, the owners are nice, been here for a long time, and they're just your small mom and pop store owners. I like them, they don't talk a lot and are pretty straight forward when they do. Here's a conversation I had once that cracked me up. "Oh, I don't think I'll get the filter, seems too much work to set it up" and he says "well, if your house doesn't have a toilet, how do you feel?" LOL for real, just for that joke I nearly wanted to buy out the store. But he's got a point. You can buy the fish but you need proper filtration etc or you're just buying to grill. Anyways, that's my piece of mind for this place and I like supporting a local business that's probably older than myself with some real down to earth people! Love it! Real owners, real life, real love for the business!

After leaving Petco due to their unhealthy fishes, we decided to drive out a bit further to Hong Kong Tropical Fish and we are so glad that we did. This place has been around for many decades and still offers clean and healthy fishes. They have many freshwater fishes to choose from, and they even sell Koi for your pond. They also have a small selection of Marine (saltwater) fishes and coral. They do have a good selection of Goldfish since many Chinese people love having Goldfish as pets. Why, you ask? Well, since the word Goldfish is pronounced "yú", it sounds the same as the word that means bounty or surplus. So Goldfishes have become a symbol for surplus and wealth, and a gift of goldfish is a blessing in the hope of good fortune. So next time you want some Goldfish or other tropical fish, swing by here. Their price is actually cheaper than Petco. A win-win for all.

I strongly recommend this place for all your reef keeping needs. (Freshwater too!) If interested heres a little story... If not, just take my word for it and shop here. - This week I decided to relocated my reef tank for a better view in the house... biggest mistake ever! Everything that could've gone wrong, went wrong. I underestimated the weight of the tank thinking I could just get by with 90% of the water drained and removal of the sump and equipment, I was definitely wrong! I ended up pulling out everything, but the sand. Every coral, every invert, every fish... yes including 4 wrasses and a goby that all like to hide in the sand bed, I mean EVERYTHING! I then accidentally broke my rock structure into several pieces in the process of lifting them out of the tank and putting them into bins. Trying not to lose too much temp, I moved as fast as I could and used as many spare heaters as possible. It was a total disaster! After glueing back all the rock work that broke into pieces and moving everything back into the tank, I was unsure of how my fishes and corals would react to this sudden change in temp, biology and chemistry. 4 hours later, I finally got the tank running again (in it's new location,) I then noticed a huge bacterial bloom, Im guessing from the stirring of the sand bed. I then decided to do a water change to see if it would help. To add to my streak of badluck, I had no saltwater prepped. I quickly rushed to Age of Aquariums to get saltwater. That's where I was greeted by Isaac. He knew something was wrong. All I said was "I decided to move my tank" he already knew where I was going. I told him my problems and concerns and hesitancy to move my livestock back into the tank. He recommended several products to me, answered a bunch of questions I had and gave me solid advice. He also allowed me to borrow several containers for saltwater as long as i promised to bring them back. I am truly grateful. 2 days later, my tank is bouncing back. I had 0 losses. Fishes are happy and corals are all starting to open up again. Im leaving this review to share my experience with those new to the hobby, getting into the hobby and those who have been in the hobby for a long time. Age of Aquariums has both freshwater and saltwater (marine) plants, fish, corals, driftwood, and cleaning equipment. The space is large, clean, and you can tell that they take great care of their fish because they look active and not sickly. I came on an afternoon over the weekend and was excited to see so many people asking about how to care for aquatic plants, when to introduce tank mates, etc. When you enter the shop, to your left are tanks, decorative wood, and dry goods like supplements. Loosely speaking, it seems like freshwater specimens (including some hefty bettas, thank you for keeping them in nice big mason jars instead of plastic) are on the left side, while marine/saltwater are center and right. The plants you see when you enter are far healthier than what you'd find at big box stores - I myself picked up some red root floaters and an Anubias variety called white rose. I've been to many a shop growing up that were dim, damp, and generally not as well kept as Age of Aquariums. They really take their time to explain how to design a tank, care for plants, and what to look for in healthy fish. Really fun spot I would like to bring my dad to so he can upgrade his 10 gallon tank!

I no longer have an aquarium, but I still love the fish and what I really love is coral. This store is the best salt water store I have ever been to. They have a vast selection of fish and they are healthy and the prices are fair--know that salt water fish are not cheap. They also have great service and if there is a fish you want that they don't have they can likely get it for you. They also have the best selection of coral I have ever seen at a store and they even have some live coral (most stores sell dead coral). This is what I was looking for. I just wanted a piece of blue coral and they had it and I bought it. They also have an online store that has a great selection. The place is family owned and parking is easy. Everything was shipped very well, it was getting cold here in Houston and the heat pack provided remained warm so my tropical pets were still in a good temp range when they arrived.
