Regarding the kitchen floor, we selected an Armstrong LVT but were never told that the floor would need to be grouted. On delivering material, we were told to pick a grout color; we did not want grout, as the owner knew when we discussed replacing the original ceramic tile floor, but Merx told us it was necessary for the LVT we selected and that the grout, being acrylic, would be stain resistant. Merx used Mapei grout on the floor, which is an inexpensive grout carried by DIY home centers (e.g., Lowes). After several months and weekly floor cleanings, the grout lines in the traffic areas became dirty and, despite our best efforts with multiple grout cleaners and brushes, stained and would not come clean. We called Merx and the only help they offered was a Google search on how to clean grout. We started looking for replacement flooring and soon learned Armstrong does not recommend grout for that floor, but if grout is wanted, Armstrong sells grout that can be used with that floor. We also learned that if a non-Armstrong brand of grout is used, the Armstrong floor warranty is voided, something that was never disclosed by Merx. Several other flooring companies also told us that floor did not need to be grouted which we learned when we moved the refrigerator on second floor installation and found the first installer had butted the floor with no grout lines which was the look we wanted from the beginning. We discovered that the technical specifications for the Mapei grout that they used on our floor indicates light foot traffic must be delayed for 24 to 36 hours and full use of the floor should not occur until 72 hours after application for full stain resistance - also something Merx never disclosed. We were told we could walk on the floor within an hour. We have now replaced the kitchen floor at an additional cost. The basement floor had its own issues. When the floor was originally quoted, we were told they would move furniture from one side of the room to the other, but on a return visit we were told the rooms had to be completely cleared of furniture, which was impossible. Before floor installation, we received a call and were given the name of the individual installing the floor, but on installation day we got a call from someone else. It turned out that Merx hired a sub-contractor to do the installation - which from our understanding and their Angie's Listing, Merx did not use. Merx did not send anyone to help the floor installer move furniture, so my wife and I had to help with that. Merx then gave the individual a piece of rubber cove base molding to trim down for a threshold in a doorway adjacent to the new basement floor, instead of a standard threshold made for the flooring. Additionally, when we got the final invoice, it was $300 more than the original signed contract, so we had to question that and have it removed along with the $150 to move furniture - which we were surprised they charged in full, given that we helped the installer with moving. If you do use this flooring company, get confirmation from an outside source on everything they tell you and be prepared that you may not receive the outcome for which you contracted or expected.

I hired STL Windows and Doors to replace 28 storm windows on my home because they were highly…read morerated. I was told that the windows would be fully custom to fit my existing custom interior windows, however, the storm windows I received are not custom and do not line up with my existing interior windows (see photos below). Honestly, I just wanted this fixed as it degrades the look of our home and is not what I ordered. What the company will tell you: 1. They tried to remedy the situation, but the company they use is no longer making storm windows so there is nothing they can do. 2. They apologize if the windows are not aesthetically pleasing or do not meet my expectations (disregarding the fact that they are not what I ordered). 3. They pride themselves on customer service, their reputation, and their customer's satisfaction. What I will tell you: 1. When I alerted them to the issue, they said, "It is what it is." They also told me that the storm windows only came in a 50/50 split (and not custom). I contacted the supplier myself and confirmed that the windows are available to order in custom sizes. When I told the company this, they said that they had reached out to the supplier and since they were no longer making storm windows, there was nothing they could do. I asked if there were other solutions, such as contacting another supplier, but I never received an answer to that. They also claim that I didn't tell them of the issue until the job was complete, but I told the installer (who happens to be the owner's sister) at the beginning of day two and her fiancé (the salesman) came out at the beginning of day three to see what the issue was. The job was not completed until the end of day three. I did not correspond with the owner until I filed complaints and contacted a lawyer. 2. "Apologies" aside, I must now pay another company considerably more money to fix the issue caused by STL Windows and Doors. 3. Their actions do not align with priding themselves on customer service. To outline a few of the particulars (without going into too much detail): they've blamed the original salesperson who no longer works for the company, they lied about the windows not being available in custom sizes, they then blamed me after I found out that they are available in custom sizes, a window was installed broken and has not been fixed. Please SHARE this with family and friends to help them avoid losing money to false promises. Thank you!

He seems very honest and I would trust him to do more work on our house in the future. Before the remodel this bathroom had a small shower and a really big tub we never used. We wanted all that gutted to make room for a really big custom shower. We selected and bought a lot of the material ourselves, including all the tile, the new vanity, shower heads and faucets. Brian told us exactly how much square footage we needed and then he did all the work. This saved us a ton of money compared to many of the big companies that want you to buy everything directly through them. Some parts of this job were difficult because it was all custom and the plumbing was kind of complex. But Brian was very transparent throughout the job and made sure everything was done correctly and to our preferences. I highly recommend him.

DON'T LET THE TV ADS FOOL YOU! Very disappointed with this company. Cabinets came in the wrong…read morecolor, mainly because I was given an old sample. Still very upset about that. Floor was laid incorrectly. Concrete floor was never leveled before new floor was put down. As a result, tiles are cracking where the holes in the concrete are. I have contacted the owner, Jeff, several times to come and fix the floor, but he has not. All around workmanship is sloppy. They didn't hook up my dishwasher for 3 months! No real reason, just didn't come to hook it up. No pride is put into their work. They took down a soffett, but refused to paint the ceiling afterward. What? It took them 7 months, and that was only after calling and calling them to finish up. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I worked really hard to save up for a kitchen remodel only to have it end in disappointment. Buyer beware!
