We were in the market for nicer cabinet than what we could pull off the shelf from Home Depot, since the project was just a small wet bar in our newly finished basement. We only needed a sink base, a two drawer base cabinet, and two 30" upper cabinets, and most cabinet shops were talking about multiple thousands of dollars. Then I ran across the Premium Cabinets as in Craig's List. After visiting the small, but well stocked office, my wife and I found a cabinet that would work perfectly with our basement wall color and floor tile. We were able to get all of the cabinets, with all of the "extras" that John mentions, soft close hinges, dovetail drawers, solid wood, for less than $1500 in a very pretty cabinet, in a color we were happy with. One of the cabinets ended up being the wrong size, but after discussing with John, we agreed that, even if it meant ordering a new cabinet, he'd make it right. In the end, I ended up doing a little retrofitting on the cabinet to make it work, because in all honesty, a single drawer dishwasher is not exactly a common item to have to work with in cabinetry, so this mistake could have happened to anyone. If I could give half stars, I'd probably rate Premium Cabinets 4 1/2 stars, but since I can't, I felt I had to go with less than 5, because of the little extra work I had to do to make the original cabinet work for our dishwasher. I would go back again for sure. read more

Premium Cabinets did a superb job with my kitchen and I would highly recommend you consider them for your renovation. I initially planned to do my whole kitchen renovation with a local kitchen designer/contractor, but I was frustrated by how high the quote was, even after making compromises on design and features. The cabinets and labor alone for my kitchen were going to cost in excess of 6K, and so I decided to explore other options to try and find quality without taking too much out of my budget. The answer, it turned out, was buying even nicer cabinets from Premium and then having a contractor install them. I found Premium Cabinets online, and emailed John Morgan to set up a meeting. Off the bat, I will say that John is very knowledgable, friendly, and easy to reach. He clearly takes a lot of pride in running a smooth business and providing great service for his customers. The Premium showroom features a wide range of designs, which are more attractive, higher quality, and (miraculously) less expensive than the equivalent styles offered by big box stores or the kitchen contractor I had gotten a quote from. John helped me pick out a style and then came out to measure my kitchen to make sure my order had all the correct dimensions. For $3500, I was able to outfit my entire kitchen with the medium brown shaker-style cabinets I had wanted. All of Premium's cabinets are full-overlay, all wood (no MDF or particleboard, not even inside), with soft-close mechanisms on all of the drawers, and dove-tail construction. In addition to being nicer, sturdier, and less expensive than the Merillat cabinets I had picked out from the kitchen contractor, this price also included an extra bank of 3 cabinets on the dining side, a set of stacked drawers, a custom-built cabinet for my farmhouse sink, and toe-kick + wood skin to finish the peninsula. That price also included hand-delivering my cabinets, which were very carefully packaged and in perfect condition. Premium does not do the installation, but John recommended a couple of contractors to install the cabinets, and I used one of them to do all of my renovation work. John will stay in touch with you for the duration of your project and will help you troubleshoot any issues that come up. Premium takes a genuine interest in making sure their customers are happy and get what they need. On the whole, I am very happy with how my kitchen cabinets came out, my experience with Premium was great, and you should really considering using them for your renovation. read more

Worst experience I've ever had with a company, and frankly, I could not imagine having a worst experience. It was not only bad, it was HORRIFIC and caused an incredible amount of stress and frustration. We spent $20,000 (including granite) for them to install cabinets and granite and it was the worst mistake we could have made. All the red flags were there, but John was so nice that we decided to go with them. We thought communication was bad before we paid for the cabinets/project, but it was nothing compared to how bad it was once they got our money. We never felt like a valued customer at any point, in fact it felt like they went out of their way to ignore us and drag the project out. We were completely left in the dark every step of the way. After paying we went months without ever hearing from them. There were CONSTANT, and I mean constant, issues along the way and the only way we found out about them was when I called asking for answers. Once the project started, we never knew when they were coming out. Then they would show up for 1-2 hours and then tell us they had to leave to go to another job. They would show up for a couple hours on Monday and wouldn't come back until Friday or the next week. We were told that the install would take 3-4 days, but plan for a week. Well it took approximately 7 weeks for them to finish the very basic install. I eventually had to finish certain aspects of the job myself in order to get our kitchen close to functional. The install was sloppy and countless mistakes were made. The bulk of the project took approx. 29 weeks (this was only installing cabinets in the exact same place as previous cabinets and installing granite, there were no modifications to the kitchen. 80% of this time was us waiting around having no idea what was going on). AND as of today, nearly an entire year later, they just finally completed the project. There's a couple things that needs to be fixed, but I'd rather not deal with them anymore, so I'll just leave it or do it myself. When I look at our kitchen, my first thought isn't about the kitchen, it's about the nightmare we experienced with Premium Cabinets, and it practically ruins any positive thoughts we have. I wish I would have just kept the old cabinets and never called them. I was very vocal about my horrific experience with Premium Cabinets throughout the entire project. John was quick to apologize and seemed sincere in apology and wanting to do better. In fact, he called me several times to apologize for their lack of communication and the mistakes that were constantly being made. But, absolutely NOTHING changed and NOTHING ever got better, it only got worse. Not once, or twice, or five times, or seven times, it was absolutely absurd how many issues occurred and how bad they were about addressing those issues. Here's the latest and last issue. Approximately 6 months after the project started I called them to remind them that they installed a cabinet face on crooked. They said they need to order a new face and would call me when they got it. Well, per their norm, they completely forgot about us until I called 3 months later to ask what the problem was. They said they just received the part (how convenient) and could come out that week. When they come out all they did was readjust the same cabinet face (there was no new cabinet face....so why did wait 3 months for it to be ordered?). Similar to every other experience with them, they fix one issue and another occurs. The cabinet face is correct, but now the handle is very crooked, because they initially installed the handle off center, to look straight, to adjust for the crooked door. During that visit they were also supposed to fix the garbage door, but of course the worker didn't know anything about it, which he even shared with us that the communication there is terrible. This issue was only a drop in the bucket of the wasted time and stress we had to deal with over the past year. Regardless of a few things that should be fixed, we are done dealing with them, and we celebrate the end of our business with them, and sadly not the completion of our kitchen. I wouldn't work with them again if they offered to remodel my kitchen for free. Others might have a different experience with them, but our experience was absolutely AWFUL!!! read more

Five years ago I purchased cherry antiqued cabinets from premium cabinets. I spent 9,000.00 which supposedly was half off. Here we are today and I literally should replace them if money was no object. I have contacted premium cabinets offer the years and their response "You should have contacted us sooner". My issues began immediately with a cracked door on one of my corner cabinets. Rather than offer a replacement I was told it had to be sent back to the manufacturer to determine if it was their responsibility and that it would take 10 - 12 weeks. Obviously it was in manufacturing because it was stained over. I am attaching a few photos with just a few of the issues. The inside of my drawers when you wipe them out with a damp cloth the finish comes off. The finish around my hardware is worn off. There are four people that live in my home not an army. The finish is peeling and and the wood color under the finish is showing through. So the finish is probably coming off on things stored in my drawers and toxic. The runners on 5 drawers don't function properly and the doors don't close properly and sit crooked. I'm not one to post bad reviews but at this point its necessary to get the word out and also be fair to myself and the money I spent. Long story short if you don't want to face replacing your cabinets a few Years down the road GO ELSEWHERE! read more

Received damaged cabinets from the beginning via their delivery process where none of my cabinets were strapped down in truck & they weren't even wrapped in cardboard protecting them. There were deep cracks in cabinet corners & the faces. The owner John said wasn't a big deal when it was to me the customer; however, they did fix my base cabinet which took one week for repairs to the face. Additionally, the cabinets have no blocking installed in corners so mounting a countertop was a difficult task as I had to install buildup strips to cabinet corners. Many of the drawers rails started to come loose on sides near the face due to the knots in the maple falling out which was holding a screw in some of the areas & there are problems w/ the door/hinge adjustments & lowering a couple brackets on the drawers to correct height. There are also deep cracks in the areas under the drawers where the release brackets were installed. Looks like the assemblers cranked down the screws too tight causing the wood to crack & this was something I wasn't able to inspect when they were delivered because the delivery drivers rushed my inspection process. I had to use wood glue to glue them back together so they are now better reinforced. These cabinets are just ok. Honestly, I'm not that impressed with them & would definitely not purchase another set or recommend Premium Cabinets to any of my family or close friends. read more

I was pretty skeptical when we first met Lia Kohl for an initial consultation because they were working out of a temporary location and it looked less than professional. We showed Lia the plans from our architect, since we were removing a wall to the kitchen, and Lia immediately picked up on a couple of issues for our plans. She was able to give us a very good idea of layout, cost, and time within a very short time. We decided that we should still get a second opinion, so we also visited a high end St. Louis kitchen design business. We liked Lia's ideas better and the cost savings of going with Premium were tremendous, so before we even reached our car after the appointment, we decided to go with Premium. Lia Kohl was so helpful and professional. You could tell that she had a lot of experience. She also worked with my contractor to solve a couple of problems.
