Karen, Amanda and crew at Calm animal care have top notch bedside manner and go the extra mile every time. These folks are animal lovers and that shows in the care they take in their work. Great follow up and clear instruction on treatment. The only downside is the long drive to get there from Bigfork but it's well worth the trip. Highly recommended read more

I began working with Dr. Rachel at Calm Vet about 9 months ago, initially bringing in my 6-month-old dog. At that time, Dr. Rachel diagnosed him as underweight and suffering from degenerative myelopathy, hip dysplasia, and arthritis. This felt incredibly alarming--especially for such a young pup. I consulted the breeder immediately, who was stunned and advised me to get a second opinion. According to established veterinary consensus and research (e.g., OFA guidelines and DM testing protocol), conditions like hip dysplasia and degenerative myelopathy are not typically confirmed in dogs under 2 years of age due to skeletal development timelines. I was also strongly encouraged to give him a weight-gain injection--likely B12 or vitamin complex additives--which I declined. Instead, I began supplementing his meals with peanut butter, veggies, and hard-boiled eggs, and he quickly gained healthy weight without any medication or intervention. Next, I brought in my 6-year-old lab for a yeast infection and a limp in his hind leg. After paying over $600, I was told he needed surgery. I followed her instructions for rest, and one week later, he was walking and running just fine without surgery, rehab, or any invasive treatment. It was clearly a soft tissue injury that resolved on its own. In hindsight, this too felt like a clear misdiagnosis--one that could've led to unnecessary surgery if I had blindly followed the advice given. Another concerning moment came when I said the younger dog would miss our long walks due to his brother's rest period, and Dr. Rachel offered an anti-anxiety prescription for my puppy. That felt like an unnecessary escalation, especially for a healthy, social pup reacting normally to changes in routine. The final straw came recently when my lab got another small yeast patch. I requested the same antibiotic that had worked before, but Dr. Rachel denied the Chewy order, reportedly leaving me a voicemail I never received. I followed up repeatedly. Eventually, I was told to just pick up an over-the-counter antibiotic spray. I already had some from the last round, but it wasn't helping, so I sent a photo. The assistant then said he must come in--and sent a nearly $400 estimate just to get medication. This included an exam, skin sample, bloodwork, and meds--with no option to skip parts of the bill to get him the relief he needed. It has become clear to me that this clinic is more interested in profit than in pets. There is a consistent pattern of misdiagnosis, over-diagnosing, over-medicating, and recommending invasive or costly treatments that often prove unnecessary. It no longer feels like my pets are being treated with individualized care--it feels like a business model built on fear and upselling. I am going elsewhere. After multiple experiences of premature diagnoses, excessive costs, and a lack of collaborative dialogue, I no longer trust this clinic to put my animals' well-being first. I want a vet who listens, respects owners' insights, and practices medicine that's grounded, humane, and not profit-driven. read more

Dr Calm and the staff are top notch and really care about my pets. I have a senior purebred dog as well as a pit-mix. I have been able to talk to vets as well as techs whenever one of the "girls" isn't feeling well, which is very reassuring. They've taken the very best care of my animals...and me! read more

I adopted a senior dog from all heart rescue, and she needed all her remaining teeth pulled. This clinic quoted the job at no less than $600. I called around and ended up getting the work done elsewhere for only $200. The prices here are high. read more

I was a vet tech at one time, and this clinic is by far the best vet clinic I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They are kind, compassionate, and know their stuff. You can tell they really care about your pet, and will go above and beyond to see your pet gets the treatment it needs. I have also found their pricing to be extremely reasonable, much more so than any other clinic in the area. read more

Dr. Calm and her staff are amazing! I have never felt so comfortable nor trusting of a veterinarian. They care for our 3 dogs. Most recently our Cindy Bear. It is very obvious their love for animals. Also they offer great support for the two legged parents. For me very worth short trip from Kalispell. Dr. Calm and staff are more interested in helping our four legged friends than over pushing products or others things that some vets do. It is obvious Dr Calm and staff work from labor of love for our four legged friends.(repetitive I know, but important!) I HIGHLY recommend! Absolutely love this clinic and staff! Thank you Dr. Calm and staff! read more

I have lived in several countries and have always had quite a few animals. I can honestly say that this Animal Clinic is one of the best I have ever encountered. Their care and attention to detail is first class. if you think Kila is too far to travel, please think again. After all your animals deserve the best treatment and they will certainly find it here. AND NO, I am not related to any of the Vets or staff. I am just a very happy client. read more

I could not be more impressed by and happy with the care our elderly lab receives from Dr. Calm and all of her outstanding staff. Since beginning acupuncture & chiropractic I have noticed great improvement in how well our dog is getting around and in his overall health. Aside from the alternative treatments, he receives excellent traditional medical care when needed - the facility is state of the art and the skill, care and compassion demonstrated by all of the staff is second to none. I highly recommend Calm Animal Care for any veterinary needs. read more

We've been going to Dr. Calm and Calm Animal Care for about 8 years. Dr. Calm and her staff are terrific. They are caring and compassionate with our animals (5 now have been seen there - including two through their passing) and with us. While there are veterinarians closer to us - we've had such great experience with Calm Animal Care, we wouldn't go anywhere else unless they were booked and couldn't see us, or it was a time sensitive emergency. Drs. Calm, Hartle & Thiel, Belinda, Wendy, Linda, Nikki & Shawn are the best. read more
