My daughter goes to Fremont for her Phlebotomy class held every Saturday. Today, no teacher showed up for class. According to my daughter, they waited for more than an hour but got no notice from anyone. This is actually the second time this has happened. All her classes are paid on schedule and we expect some sort of reimbursement for the 16 hours that are already missed. I tried calling the number listed on the website but it was closed for the weekend. Please advise. read more

Took the Medical Assistant Program through Sanger Adult school in Fresno and it is fast paced but very doable! The teacher and her assistant are very informative and really care about their students. Our instructor, Mr. Warren was very knowledgeable about everything and answered every question we had. He also made class so much fun and enjoyable through the lectures/ phlebotomy videos/ class time, etc. He made sure we all understood what was to be done. Our other Instructor, Ms. Erica, was also very knowledgeable and answered every question when it came to skills portions in the laboratory, and also helped with resumes, and mock interviews! I am so grateful for my instructor Miss Nina. Would not have wanted it any other way. She really prepared me for the AMCA exam and not only that, she is a great instructor. wondering why a program that is costing close to $3000 is SO unorganized and unprofessional, nobody should be paying this amount of money for the bare minimum. During externship i had talked to another class in the same course all of which were also upset about the terrible communication, teachers being late when we're on time and locked out of the classroom. Having to spend money on gas to commute to an externship just to sit there and do nothing after the first three days. Driving to play card games with classmates and watch movies and even have people sleeping in the classroom because we "technically have to be in the facility for 8 hours every day" having sharps containers more than 3/4 full still in use, having unsafe sharp containers REOPENED after they are sealed shut, having volunteers passing out without an instructor present, even the skills instructor agreeing with students about how unsafe and unorganized the environment is. Cal Regional is a lawsuit waiting to happen and a violation of OSHA guidelines. Baffled at how this program was i would recommend everyone to chose somewhere else, i only stayed in this program because after the first 7 days from the first day of class you ARE NOT ELGIBLE FOR REFUND. under no circumstance will you get a refund for ANYTHING . save yourself the trouble. The Cal regional school for phlebotomist technician had many issues for starters the externship site was not a adequate e place for testing our skills the room is cramped with students, we would find getting our supplies difficulty as it would get in another students way of drawing blood. Another issue is the overfilled sharps container, with the week I intended the sharps container was only changed a few times. The exam to pass the course is also very different from the resources given, around 45 questions on the exam had no correlation to the resources that were given, also the instructors also stated the practice exam was enough however the exam had only 15 questions related to that practice exam. Overall the course needs some updating in order to provide better service to their students. read more

I'm a student of the Pharmacy Technician Program and after graduating from here I have to say I have learned nothing. Yes, I said and you read it right, NOTHING. Here's my compliment / complaints in the different area of the program. * The instructor was nonetheless awesome but have not teach a class properly before. Therefore, the instructor was a bit lazy to really even run through the class presentation to let your mind process the information. The instructor will only ask if you have any questions from your homework and move on to the next chapter. Do keep in mind you are reading a 1-2 chapter a week, sometime you are even 1 chapter a day. Yes, 1 chapter a day.....and you are also required to turn in the workbook in which the instructor DOES NOT EVEN CHECK! I even tested if the instructor even grade the workbook...I purposely mismatched my multiple choice answers and still passed for the workbook portion of my homework.... * Tests/Midterms/Finals: You'll pass this without knowing a thing because 1) it's open book, 2) you are allowed to use your workbook, and 3) you'll have a partner. Oh you failed? Don't worry the class will have a second test just because the class didn't do so well. On top of that, how could the instructor let you failed if they didn't even teach you to begin with? Lol. * Labs: There are multiple labs that are SUPPOSED to be set up for you after the WORKBOOK in which the instructor is supposed to run it through to you so you could get the EXPERIENCE(S) you need when you graduate and go on about in a pharmacy. However, the instructor neglects this and because there are cameras in the room he/she will inform you to go to the "team rooms". In which she will then instruct you to do your homework and go home afterward... You will hardly do any labs and this is a must if you need the experience! Throughout my time there the only lab we had ever did was 1) count pills, 2) use/dispose syringe(s), and 3) use/dispose plastic gloves. * Externship(s): WOW YOU MADE IT THIS FAR? HURRAY! You made it, but wait! You are going to be thrown into the Lion's Den now. Do expect to know nothing other than the name of a FEW DRUGS because the instructor had rushed it through your head. However, your nightmare doesn't end there cause now the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician at your extern EXPECTS you to KNOW ALL OF THE DRUGS and how to OPERATE the computer machines at their location in which you have NO KNOWLEDGE OF! But wait, all of those times that you were SUPPOSED to be doing lab and lectured on something important were not properly taught. So now you're left in this little pie in which you hope to find a job after the 2 weeks of extern... Overall, there is no real layout for them to teach you... what they have to offer for you is their EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM at the end of the 3month... other than having YOU go home to read a book and come to class to elaborate what YOU LEARNED (BY YOURSELF). The instructor is just there to answer your questions...Listen to me and save yourself $3000 along with 3-6months of time and go to a different school. Matter of fact, if you are interested in becoming a Pharmacy Technician do yourself a favor and start at ANY local pharmacy as a CASHIER or PHARMACY CLERK. You'll slowly learn how the system works, and you'll learn the name of the drugs by yourself just by looking at them...You don't need this program to take the PTCB to be certified. I'm honestly sad but extremely happy that my school time flew by so fast. This program is very fast paced you have your day 1 and day 2 which helps extremely to learn and be very hands on. I'm so glad I chose this program and with my amazing instructor Mrs. Burke and her funny stories we all really learned so much from her. Her and Laun (lab day assistant) really helped me in areas that I did struggle the most, they dont give up. They most certainly wont let you give up. I took the Pharmacy Technician at CalRegional location in Natomas with Ms. Kimia. I had a positive and rewarding experience. Upon finishing the class, I was prepared to enter in my externship with more than was required. My instructor took extra time to make sure that each of the students was not only taught the required material but also prepared with a professional resume and "practice" interviews including what a hiring or HR professional will ask and look for in a potential employee. The learning of the class was driven by the needs of the students in the class. If we needed to spend more time on a certain topic or area, she spent extra time making sure that we all had a complete understanding before moving on to the next topic. We had to spend extra time on the math portion to make sure we all knew how to find the dilution percentages. Each class period we were given time to begin our homework and study with our classmates and our instructor was available for any questions that we had. We did activities in small groups or pair always working with a different partner so every classmate had the same chance at success if they took advantage of all the opportunities presented in class. I HIGHLY recommend taking the Pharmacy Technician program at CalRegional you will get a personalized education that will help you SUCCEED. I chose the Saturday program which began from 8am and ended around 4:30-5pm, though my class was smaller than most (9 girls total) it was still really immersive, welcoming, and fun environment. I enjoyed my time here and Mrs. Lorie was an amazing, loyal, and thorough teacher. She really appreciates any effort you put forth and is helpful in all aspects. I just completed the 10-week CMA program, and it was phenomenal! The program can be a little intense for the classroom portion, especially if you don't have much background in the medical/sciences, but it will only help you in the end when you go out into the field. The skills portion is a lot of fun and you connect easily with your classmates since it's a small class. Taking this course will benefit you and prepare you for what's expected in reality. I highly recommend taking a course with either Ms. Candy or Ms. Julie for the CMA/Phlebotomy course. CALRegional - CMA class of Fall 2016 - Adult Education Near Me - Fairfield, California

I took the Phlebotomy program at the fairfield campus. Due to covid, we had hybrid classes which was half online classes, half in person classes. Honestly where do I start with this joke of a "school". Heres the piping hot tea: I already kind of knew what to expect before starting the program from the stories I've been told by a few of my friends who were past students here. They all had similar stories. "It's easy", "They basically give you the answers to the quizzes", "You get what you paid for", "Nothing special. Get in get out", etc. That was all true but I didn't expect to run into so many problems here. I guess its just my "Brandon Luck". As I said, it was a hybrid class and those were so stressful due to the poor quality of the website we use for our online sessions(students being randomly kicked out of the sessions, not mobile friendly, constantly having the mic and video cut off for students and the teacher). Our teacher constantly complained about how much they hated the website and the students would complain as well. In person classes. You have to practice blood draws on each other as soon as the first or second day of in person sessions. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF MY CLASSMATES felt like they were ready nor were they taught properly on how to draw blood. The program doesnt even have prosthetic arms to practice drawing fake blood from??? We would get a demonstration from the teacher ONCE and they would say "okay now you guys try it". I was fortunate enough to have veterinary medical experience so I know how to use a needle but my classmates did not even know the basics nor did they know how to find the vein. Bevel up? they didnt know that. Which vein to avoid? Couldnt tell you. What type of drawing methods are there? No clue. Majority of the material you learn is not on the NHA Exam that you take after completing school due to the text book(Phlebotomy Essentials) that the school provides you is different from the text book(The Complete Textbook of Phlebotomy 5th Edition) that the NHA exam's material is based on. The reason the school doesnt switch text books is because they get commission for the Phlebotomy Essentials text book. The staff here are very unprofessional as well. During our Final, 2 of the teachers from different programs walk into our class and disrupt while we're trying to concentrate so that they can talk about medical equipments with each other??? One of them had the audacity to ask "Who's class is this? Is this your class?" and the other teacher said "Nah. This isnt yours?". There were people struggling with their Final due to not being as fluent in the english language so imagine having a harder time concentrating when you have two grown men disrupting the environment. Anyways, after turning in your pre requisites and completing the program, you get your certificate of completion after about 2 weeks or less. Waited the 2 weeks, and nothing except an email from the school saying that I didnt turn in my externship booklet needed to complete my pre requisites and that I'd be dropped from the program and wont receive my certificate of completion. The thing is I DID TURN IN MY EXTERNSHIP BOOKLET. Called the school to see what the problem was. Turns out my class and another class of my teacher are having the same problem. Reason? Teacher never submitted our externship booklets so we had to wait an extra 2 weeks to get our certificate of completion. Waste of my time. A friend of mine is currently taking the program and they're going through similar problems. Not only that but there were 2 cases of students having covid during their time there and the school has chosen to resume all programs even though they're not able to catch the virus with the covid policies that they have in place. read more

I absolutely loved taking the Phlebotomy course here. I would give 6 out of 5 stars if I could. I took the two week course which met 8:00 am to 5 pm each day, and had an included externship at the end because of their on-site lab. I think only the Fairfield location has the included lab, otherwise students have their externship at other locations. The instructors were passionate, knowledgeable, and kind/understanding. They were also hilarious and actual human beings who I definitely look up to. I felt that the skills I learned were accurate, up-to-date, and very detailed. I was really looking for that sort of quality because I'm a technical person. We were also exposed to several different types of tools and equipment, and learned how to do urine analysis, used nasopharyngeal swabs to practice testing for strep, and other non-blood specimen tests. My instructors made me feel confident about what I was learning and the skills I was using every day even though using needles can be really daunting at first. I overcame my fear of needles and got so used to being poked, and eased my anxiety about drawing blood from others. It really is a rewarding feeling to get successful draws. I also didn't expect to make friends and bond with everyone so well but it really felt like a little family at the end. There was a great deal of trust established early on as we practiced draws from each other. Overall, a super valuable experience. Worth the $3,000 hands-down. You even receive help with resumés and prepare for your NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam so you can pass successfully. I already miss being there and perhaps I will see if I can volunteer in the future. Do it though guys. Take the course, learn these skills, especially if you want to go into nursing because many nurses are cross-trained poorly in phlebotomy. It's just the reality. Be that nurse that knows exactly what they are doing and can locate veins even in "difficult" patients. It will make your career so much easier and open up more opportunities than just working in a hospital setting. read more

CalRegional offers a flexible schedule of classes. I work full time and also have children so going back to school would be hard but CalRegional makes it possible for you to attend school while working full time. All though the small class room didn't accommodate our class size, also includes the small laboratory that didn't accommodate our volunteers.
