Working with instructors and students was the highlight of my position while at HarperRand. My instructors, partners and coworkers all praised me for my communication and hard work I put in. The downfall of the company is the so called "executive team" and their lack of knowledge of day to day operations. They do not communicate effectively and blame it everyone else rather than taking accountability, they have no pulse on the company, it's employees, or who does what. They play favoritism as long as you're a puppet and do exactly as they want you to do even if you disagree with it or it's flat out unethical. Decisions are made from one person at the top and everyone must follow. The "Chief Academic Officer" doesn't even have a voice, she will say one thing or agree with you on something then go back to the COO and will turn around and say the exact opposite of what she just told you just before speaking to him. The management team are nothing but puppets to the puppeteer. As much as I was praised by the Chief Academic Officer of how much she wanted to grow me into a "program director" position, when she got the opportunity to do so, since the puppeteer didn't agree, even after proving myself month after month and taking on many additional responsibilities of the previous program director, they gave me a slap in the face $1 raise and a negative evaluation all while keeping those added responsibilities. They stated during my evaluation that many of the regional managers I work directly with said negative things about my performance and communication skills with them but when I asked Regional Managers directly, they stated management never even asked them how I was doing and all praised me on how well I supported them in their roles. They then eliminated my position a few months later and created a new position with the same job responsibilities as I held with a different title. After I was let go, the Chief Academic Officer was crying in the hallway because she clearly didn't agree with the puppeteer's decision to let me go and her opinion ultimately didn't matter to his poor decisions anyways. It's sad because this company has so much potential and a really good staff that truly care for the students and work hard to make the students successful. Stay far away from this company unless you enjoy unprofessionalism, lies, retaliation and poor communication. read more

I'm taking the Phlebotomy program in El Centro, CA. It has exceeded all of my expectations. My passionate instructor, Amy, is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The course is short and to the point with a lot of hands on practice in the laboratory. It also includes a minimum 40 hour externship, CPR certification and the national test to become certified, proving the value of the program exceeds the (low) cost by far. Cal regional is an amazing option for those who want to get their foot in the medical field like me. I'm a nursing major and I took the phlebotomy course in Santa Rosa/ Petaluma Adult School and my instructor was Nacy Kaur. The course was easy to follow through and made me feel more confident as a person who is pursuing nursing. Nancy and Cori (one of the lab techs) made the course easy to follow through. They both were very compassionate towards teaching me the material. Nancy even went above and beyond to teach us methods she uses at her actual job to reduce the risk of in job injuries. The pharmacy technician program was a great experience. During COVID, the class would have online lectures twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays) and in person skills twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Also, the program pays for your ExCPT exam which you must take to become licensed. Then, they walk you step by step on how to apply for your Pharmacy Technician License and get experience in the field through the internship. Definitely worth the time and investment for the length of the program and opportunities. I did not take the fast paced class that i believe was only 2-3 weeks, I took the 4 month once a week class, This was the perfect pace for me and for my classmates as well. I am in my last week of the phlebotomy technician program at the Fresno location. I am taking the night class with Ms.garza as the instructor. It is an accelerated program and definitely fast-paced but she made it easy to understand, and always made sure to set aside time to help people individually when needed. I cannot speak for the day class because that is a different teacher but I can definitely tell you that my instructor was very versed on all of the topics and has years of experience. I recently just completed the Clinical Medical Assisting program. Overall the program was phenomenal!!! The instructors were great! Always willing to answer each and every question with a thoughtful response! After the class room portion was over I was able to start my externship at Sutter Health where I was able to use and perfect my clinical skills I obtained in school. Compared to Empire college, Cal Regional is your best option!! price and time wise!!!! 3k compared to 12k-35k is a much better option in my opinion!!! You obtain the same knowledge and skills in a quarter of the time while at the same time paying THOUSANDS of dollars less!!! Seriously don't waste your time at Empire college. read more

I took the medical assistant program here in Richmond and I have to say there were some issues here and there but I ended the program feeling like I learned a lot thanks to my amazing teacher Ms.Debbie! She really helped my class throughout the whole time she was there and if I had to take another program I would only take it if she was my teacher so to her I would give her 5 out of 5 stars the program itself however I would give 4 out of 5 stars due to those problems but I would take another program with Calregional. So if you're on here to see if you should take one I do recommend it just hope for the best when it comes to your instructor and hopefully you have a really good teacher like ms Debbie was to my class. read more

They postponed my class twice after I already paid(not due to COVID) and then they tell me the day before it was supposed to start back up that it was canceled indefinitely and I would have to start my class over from the beginning when I only had 3 weeks left. Unfortunately I did not take this program however I tried to. I signed up to take a medical assisting class that started in the end of July. I paid the deposit and went to buy all of the supplies including scrubs, shoes, textbook, and blood pressure kit totaling over $100. When I made the deposit there was no mention of a discount however I went to a meeting to get more information and that was when they mentioned a discount which they would have never told me had I not gone to the meeting. I was ready to start the program, but FIVE days before it was set to start they canceled the class and moved it to the end of June. Although I was frustrated, I understood that because not many people had signed up for the program it wasn't going to happen, however I had gone to a meeting and asked if the enrollment was high and the speaker told me that the classes usually get filled up pretty quickly. Obviously that was a lie just to get me to enroll in the program. I was also angry that they decided only to tell me FIVE days prior to starting the program. AFTER I had purchased what I needed to be in the program. If they knew the enrollment was low they should have let me know before that it was not likely to start. I asked how many people were enrolled so that I could decide whether or not to wait another month, however they said they couldn't tell me but the fact that they moved it another month meant that they probably had around 6 people. I was angry but decided to wait for the next month. As the time was getting closer I kept calling to ask if they could tell me how many people enrolled and still they said that they didn't have that information available to them. I called a week before the class was set to start and asked if the class was still going to happen. The lady reassured me and said that there was no notice for a cancelation however I was still weary. Five days before the program was set to start I called again to reconfirm and what do you know, classes were cancelled again. The only good thing that came about was that I got a full refund. In the end it was a big waste of time and money waiting and purchasing the needed supplies. The receptionists were nice but they were pretty much useless when trying to get information about the number of enrollment or if the class was going to get cancelled. All in all, I would not recommend as it could waste your time and money and they literally don't tell you that the class is cancelled until last minute so that you'll be forced to wait until the next class. read more

I'm going to be honest, I was EXTREMELY nervous when I started CalRegional's phlebotomy technician program. I assumed that the majority of my classmates would be quite a bit younger than me, fresh out of high school, with much fresher young minds than my own. I was truly fearing I'd be slower to learn and hold the class behind, but Michelle P. and Samoia J. were so quick to put my mind at ease. I could tell from Day #1 that they were there to help you succeed and to finish their class with your head held high- which every one of us did! I have never met teachers so dedicated to watching YOU succeed. I know we weren't the easiest class (there was ALOT of students, each of us with our very individual personalities Lol) but they continued to pull us together, always having us team up with different students, allowing us to all meet one another. I really admired their teamwork! I am forever grateful for Michelle being such a wonderful teacher, always finding ways to be relatable and understanding to each person's situation, and for our skills instructor Samoia for ALWAYS making us laugh, but also for making us realize just how important and serious our job is, as a phlebotomist. If you decide to give this class a try and you want to understand and be good at what you're doing, hands down, you'd want Michelle and Samoia as your teacher & skills instructor. Nerves aside, I am honestly SO excited to go show off my new bad @ss skills as a CPT!! read more

The 5-Star review is redeemed due to my experience with my instructor. From start to finish, CalRegional had a ton of advertisements that displays their programs and schedules available. (Seems great) I decided to call and get more information on their EMT and pharmacy tech program as I was undecided. The woman on the phone was nice, but didn't tell me much more information than I could already find online. I finally decided I would just put the deposit down on the pharmacy tech program instead of second guessing it, and from there my experience seemed to flow decently well as far as what was expected of me before my first day of class (uniforms, materials, school conduct book) Day 1 was okay, as far as introductions and what we would learn about over the course of the next few weeks, however my instructor was setup for failure in the beginning by the school in my opinion. There was some sort of scheduling issue the first week and a half, so our program got delayed which changed our end date. The communication on this scheduling issue was not really conveyed until it was forced out of administration after several calls from students. I went to class for 2 days and then I didn't have school for the next 5 days, waiting to hear something from staff. That wasn't good enough for me as there is a 7 day period to cancel or you have to payout the rest of your tuition whether you come or not, in addition we had assignments we were trying to stay on top of and no one could answer if those still needed to be submitted by the deadline we were given. CalRegional did decide to "credit" us $300 off our tuition for this inconvenience, which was an upside to a frustrating situation. However, we continued after that week and a half of being off. Mrs. T seemed more prepared and we just kept doing a ton of assignments. (Background: This was her first teaching gig with CalRegional and her all her books that are to be provided by the school weren't there on time, and when it finally did get there it was the same workbook she already had and not TEXTbook she needed -3 week delay- ) She was going by the schools older curriculum of slide shows/modules when she was assigning work for us to do at home, which was a massive amount of chapters due in under a week. It made it near impossible to absorb the information because you already had to move on to the next chapter or you'd never finish in time. It made it difficult to balance at home life, work life, and school. She finally received the correct book and she was mortified she had been assigning us so much based off of PAST instructors material (which btw the slideshows were absolutely terrible-should delete them) She decided to redo the remaining time of the class how she wanted to transfer the information to us and what our individual expectations were for work assigned at home. We found a happy medium where we were able to breathe with the work assigned at home, gave us time to study for quizzes and do NHA modules. The atmosphere of the class changed at that point. Everyone was able to share their struggles and classmates/teacher would offer solutions, change assignment focus based on these struggles. The lab's she would put on were fun and unique! She made sure that no student was left behind (some were on the quiet side, so she always made sure to ask them what they needed help on so she would go over it as a whole) She's always on time ready to go, in the classroom and online. If she has ever been any other emotion other than happy, she's great at hiding it. Mrs. T is always wearing her smile. She created a great dynamic with everyone and having Mrs. T as my instructor made me feel like I was in good hands and I can trust her with my education and my future in pharmacy. I just finished Saturday phlebotomy program. I loved my class and classmates. The pace was pretty fast given it was only 9 Saturdays, but the class itself was great! I had Juan as my professor and he was very helpful and made sure we were prepared for what was to come in the course. I just finished my state exam and was able to pass. Definitely would recommend this program to anyone who wants to get into the medical field. The Saturday classes definitely helped since my work schedule isn't as flexible. My strongest recommendation would be to stay on top of the readings because with such little in class time, not everything is reviewed for the NHA. So doing the readings will definitely help you feel more prepared for the exam. read more

The worst school ever. If I could give it zero stars I would. To start, you pay an exorbitant amount of money for little to no reason it seems. I attended the school for the phlebotomy program and after paying my fees, I still needed to purchase a uniform, books (which were pretty much unnecessary), paid for tests, applications, drug tests, etc. Because of that I'm having a hard time figuring out what I actually paid for in my tuition fee. You might think the fee was for the classes and the materials used, but because of covid the classes were mostly online. We paid full price for a quarter of the experience we expected. On top of that the school had not one, not two, but THREE known cases of covid. The school did nothing. They handled the situation poorly and outright lied about how many cases there actually were. They claimed there was only one. The program itself is also lackluster. You are thrown into stabbing each other with needles on the first day, almost no supervision, incompetent staff, and the material they teach is completely different from what you're tested on! This institution is a joke and should be shut down. Skip this monstrosity of a school and find a real school that will genuinely benefit you in life. You deserve better, and so did we. read more

I am finishing up the pharmacy technician course at CalRegional with Mrs.Thornton. I really enjoy having her as a teacher, she's dedicated to her students & having us understand the important material that's going to have us pass the NHA exam. The school itself is where I had run into some problems. I originally signed up for the end of July course which got postponed to August then after a couple days of starting up the school year it got postponed by another week. That was frustrating but was compensated with a discount so that was really nice. The course content was confusing at times so for the first couple weeks of class we were changing and adjusting a lot, but we got through it and kind of created our own course study that we felt as a class was more helpful. I would recommend this course to a friend, I think the price is reasonable for the tuition you get in return because I had Mrs. T who handled all the discrepancies. I don't know how smoothly it would have gone with a different teacher. Up next is the NHA exam & then the school is supposed to place me with an externship, I've heard the school lacks on that part so I'm hopeful they'll be able to place me within a reasonable amount time. read more
