Horrible Experience with Smith Automotive Towing and Recovery…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. Smith Automotive Towing and Recovery is by far the worst towing company I have ever dealt with. My car broke down, and after calling them, I was told a truck would arrive within 30 minutes. TWO HOURS later, I was still waiting, only to be met with a rude dispatcher who clearly couldn't care less. When the driver finally arrived, he was unfriendly and unprofessional, acting like he was doing me a favor. To make matters worse, they charged me an outrageous fee for a simple tow--way more than they originally quoted! The worst part? My car was damaged in the process, and they refused to take responsibility, blaming me instead. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from this company. Unreliable, overpriced, and completely unprofessional.

He very clearly informed me of what was going to be done and what I should do going forward with the tow as well as great advice on how to deal with my insurance. You can tell he cares about his job and how he represents his company. If I have any issues or needs this guy I'd call any day I highly recommend. He also explained how to properly tie down a bike while towing for a safe transport as well as not to harm the bike more in the process. Very very insightful. Thank you again Brian 100% satisfied customer

(possible hippy trap) They are still called automart on maps…read morebut in the office they say commercial tire. Long story short they left a set of pliers in my engine compartment (dangerous) and never tightened the coil pack on the spark plug #7 Where the misfire came from. And three weeks to do spark plugs waited a week to be seen. Told them before hand it was a misfire. The mechanic scott said he would have his assessment done in an hour and a half. Finally heard back from him the next day. Said it was in fact a misfire, and Suggested spark plugs. He said it would cost 800$ but I was In a hurry to leave town and go on a trip for Christmas. Then came the three week wait. Three weeks to change spark plugs. The first week was expected, but after ten days I started calling. They always stalled me and said it was next on the list and that they would call me in the afternoon. They never would. happened 3-4 times. Finally at week two they had finally LOOKED at it they said. ONLY LOOKED. At this point most other shops weren't taking new customers because of the holidays so I was stuck with them. so they tell me they would have to order the parts (spark plugs) and that they would be there in two days. A week later of playing the same one sided game of phone tag, I became so fed up I told them my friend had kicked me out of his house and that I would be coming to sleep in my car tomorrow. The next morning they called and said my truck was ready They told me they hadn't been able to fix the problem and that the misfire was worse than before. They drove it around, even took sensor readings. So when I finally took it home and went in to look. There was a pair of large expensive looking specialty pliers (which were returned) just floating around the engine compartment. And the problem that couldn't be fixed??? A loose screw on the coil pack above the spark plug. Everyone in town said good things and I still believe them to be decent mechanics. They just don't have the time to cover their workload and make excuses for it instead of turning away customers. Heard they might have changed owners too so most of the praise might be unwarranted. Go to jimmy the mobile mechanic or Carl on the other side of town. Way better

During the next two weeks I asked everyone I could for a ride to go retrieve my belongings from my vehicle & finally found someone willing to drive me. I had to take the day off work because the tow yard is closed on the weekends and is only open during bankers hours from 8-5. I called when we started out to make sure they knew we were coming & the guy said no problem although he would charge a fee for coming to unlock the gate. I figured he might want $50 and was fine with that. When I finally arrived-and only 30 minutes after they'd closed-I called and told the guy we were there. He then told me he was eating dinner and would come open the gate for $200! I was dumbfounded and explained that I couldn't afford to pay that much & the man grumbled something else and hung up. About 10 minutes later a truck pulled up next to us and a rough looking guy growled out the window that we needed to get the f*** off his property and that we were causing his cameras to go off. When we tried to explain our situation he told us to get our sh** together and get off his property again. What happened to customer service? He wasted his time and gas to show up there anyway, would it really have hurt him to unlock the gate and allow us to grab the stuff from my vehicle? I live almost 3 hours away and now will have to try to figure out how to come back down here, again. As hard as it was the first time, I am not real optimistic about it happening a second time. With all the money that tow companies charge, I doubt it would have really hurt him to have a little compassion and try to be helpful this one time. I mean he obviously won't have a hard time figuring out some other way to squeeze the next guy who comes in after having hard times. What a jerk! I hope that someone else will call a different company and not give this man anymore business he doesn't appreciate.
