Just came here for the first time and very impressed by the fast service and the food portions. they give a lot compared to other dim sum places especially their noodle dishes I ordered the crispy noodle with black bean sauce and I loved it! I will definitely come back for this it was HUGE had a great mix of assorted vegetables and meat they were not cheap this was $14 ONLY and it could feed 3 people. Their other dim sum dishes were standard and met my expectations for good dim sum. I also like how they leave the bottle of hot sauce on the side unlike the other dim sum places that make you ask for them and some people don't know dim sum taste better with this hot sauce! It should be mandatory to be placed on the table at other places.

Went to this place for the first time, and all I can say is, "How did I not know about this place"?! Came on a Tuesday afternoon so it was easy to get a table. Service is fast which we really appreciated. The woman server was able to answer my questions in both English/Cantonese. We ordered 9 dishes. All were great value for your money compared to T-Pot, HK cafe, Forbidden City. The portion sizes were huge! The black beans spare ribs had a strange taste (pork tasted off) so I sent them back with no hassles, she took them off the bill right away. Would definitely return!

Fairly delicious, very busy traditional Chinese restaurant off McKnight, between Deerfoot and Center street. They take reservations but I don't think the restaurant really honors them. We had one for 8 pm and I think we were just lucky that a couple tables had cleared by the time we got there. There are specials on the Chinese menu where you can get dishes for as low as $10. We ordered a deep fried chicken dish for $10, a snow pea leaves and mushroom dish for about $16, and bitter melon hot pot (can't remember how much this was). The rice was $2/person. Portions are very generous and three dishes were enough for four adults plus leftovers. And as with most traditional Chinese restaurants, you get a free pork bone soup as a starter and dessert soup to finish your meal. Service was very slow but the food was good. I'd definitely return!!

Caltons is in the space that Tango used to occupy. The inside looks a little different from before. I think they got rid of the bar and the some booth seating in the middle of the space. We were here for dim sum on a Sunday. They seated us right away at the awkward seating area towards the southeast corner of the restaurant. It is a little tight in there but there weren't that many people in that area when we were there. The service was not bad either, but due to where we were seating the waitresses only came around when they were coming by to drop off food. Dim Sum dishes are $4.95 to $6.95... which is pretty much in line for dim sum nowadays with inflation and the higher minimum wage. The food was okay I thought. While certainly not the best dim sum in the city, having one more dim sum place in the city is definitely not a bad thing. I will return for dim sum or even dinner if I am in the area.

I am very happy with the quality of their food and price. You can't go wrong. Full Hong Kong authentic including their tea. Smell and taste full blown HK chefs

Kung pao chicken and singapore noodles

My first time trying caltons. Ordered the kung pao chicken and singapore noodles. Kung pao was super disappointing. I dont even think they gave me the right dish. It was too sweet, saucy and spicy. They put carrots, bell peppers, chestnuts, celery. They were cheap with it and didnt add enough chicken. I probably ate like 3 tiny pieces so it was more like a saucy veggie stir fry. Singapore noodles were good, good amount of pork.

This restaurant is always busy. Good price, delicious food and large portion. Newly renovated and nice decor. Service is Asia style, fast but do not expect a high class servers. It is good to have dinner here with family or group gathering. I always buy takeout here and enjoy it very much.

This is our go-to restaurant for dim sum in Calgary. They have weekly specials range from $1.88 to $4.88, which you can order 2 of the same dish but limited to 1 choice. We always order their congee special and it always come out piping hot. We also like their rice rolls, shrimp dumplings, sticky rice...to name a few. Service is usually quick but highly recommend to make a reservation for the weekend. We tried their dinner menu too but we liked their dim sum more.

My first experience at Calton's was excellent. It was Chinese New Year and the food we ordered was so fresh and delicious. The second experience of ordering takeout was less than great. The food I ordered was a bit dry, over cooked and stale tasting. I'll have to try it a third time to decide if they just had an off day when I ordered takeout. They offer a dim sum as well so I'm looking forward to trying that.

This restaurant in Calgary's Chinatown was highly recommended by a family member, and they were…read moreabsolutely right. We had been eating overly heavy dinners over the past few days, so we decided to be relatively gentle with our order this time. Here is a breakdown of what we tried: Xiao Long Bao (小籠包 - Soup Dumplings): This is my daughter's favorite, so we ordered two baskets for her. They were executed beautifully. They were well-steamed on a clean sheet, and thankfully, there was no grayish blood seeping out of the meat. The wrapper (麵 皮) was right on the spot--not too hard or soft, not too thick or thin, and it didn't have that rubbery "chewing gum" or mushy "play dough" texture you get at lesser places. The pork filling tasted clean with no funky pork smell. Very nice. Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup: This was just okay, but to be fair, I don't expect a flawless bowl of beef noodle soup from a restaurant that doesn't strictly specialize in it (especially at a Dim Sum-focused spot). The broth was a bit plain and served lukewarm. The tendon, however, was well-cooked and well-marinated with a pleasant taste; it was a bit on the firmer side, which didn't bother me. The noodles were on the softer, sparser side rather than dense and chewy. I personally prefer a firmer noodle, but again, I can't complain too much given the venue. Spicy Tofu and Preserved Egg (麻辣皮蛋豆腐): I really liked this dish. The tofu had a fantastic, fresh soy taste, the preserved egg was delicious, and the chili oil and soy sauce dressing was perfectly balanced. If you are wondering what these "black eggs" are and feel a bit hesitant or concerned about trying them, I highly recommend giving them a shot here. This dish will easily fix those concerns! Overall, it was a great meal. I will definitely return, and next time we have the appetite, I'll dive deeper into the dishes they truly specialize in.

Ok so the food is super cheap.. BUT ALSO, THE FOOD WAS ACTUALLY IMPRESSIVE TOO???? NOT TOO OILY, NOT TOO SALTY, GOOD AMOUNT OF SPICY HEAT, fried food actually crunchy. I really appreciated all of the above. I know the food probably isn't healthy still, but I hate when restaurant food has a puddle of oil. The noodles were a bit stuck together because of the lack of oil. Maybe this is why the squid was so crunchy too? The guy serving us in the front said his mom was cooking in the back. She's like she really cares about her customers and making sure they eat a bit more healthy, and of course, tasty food. Each dish had a good mix of veg and meat. They are NOT stingy on meat or veg. We also got the mapo tofu and it was better than t&t. Again, another thing I liked was how the mapo tofu sauce wasn't loaded with starch. In fact, I don't think there was any (along with any sugar) because the sauce was all watery in texture. Flavour and spice was perfect. Something unique about it was that it had a bunch of green peas. I know some people don't like peas. Lol. Overall, this place is genuinely good which is surprising given the insanely low prices. The staff is really nice and chill. I highly reccomend this place for takeout if you're looking for something low-key at home. Ps. There's no seating inside. This is purely a Chinese takeout joint. They have chairs inside if you're waiting for your food.
