One of my favorite places for a traditional king cake! The specialty and filled ones are good too, but I prefer the traditional cake. Much shorter lines than Randazzo's and just as good if not better in my opinion. I love that they have a mini size which is perfect for 1 or 2 people. You can also order king cakes from there year-round so you can get your fill whenever the craving strikes, although I do believe king cake tastes better during the official carnival season. read more

We got a low carb king from Caluda's and it was delicious!! This is our first year doing Keto so it was nice to find a bakery that has low carb options. It was a lot more pricey than a regular sized king cake. It was the size of a small plate, not very big for $15. But we enjoyed it very much. Worth the price. So glad I took a friend recommendations to try a new place for King Cakes. Since I went late in the day, they only had traditional and Oreo Cream Cakes left. I purchased the Oreo Cream Cakes and was also tempted to purchase a mini individual size traditional king cakes also. I've always get our King Cakes from Haydel Bakery, which I had some earlier in the Mardi Gras season. We were having a get together so I decided to bring a King Cake from a different place to try. We had Caluda's Oreo Cream Cakes and also Dong Phuong King Cakes. Most of use enjoyed the Caluda's better then from Dong Phuong. Caluda's is moist and fresh and cinnamon taste with Oreo Cream in the middle. The shop keeper recommend to go early if I want different flavors next time because I wanted to try their raspberries cream cheese king cake. Horrible customer service and communication for online orders, consider a different company for your King Cake needs if you actually want to celebrate. I placed an online order on January 29th for delivery on February 14th - a first King Cake surprise for my husband. The 14th arrives and nothing is delivered - disappointment for all. I contact the company on Saturday, February 15th since I also never received a tracking number. During my call they provide me with a tracking number and tell me that the order shipped late but should arrive by the evening of the 15th. I contacted FedEx with the tracking number and was informed that while Caluda's created a shipping label they actually never provided the package for shipment. I called Caluda's again and the customer service representative tracked the order and was confused when she saw that my order hadn't been shipped. She was supposed to check-in with her supervisor and call me back with next steps but never did. I called again today (2/19/20) to check-in since FedEx still hasn't received the order. This time the customer service representative was openly hostile and refused to let me talk to her supervisor while claiming that my item was sent to FedEx - regardless of the fact that FedEx's website clearly shows otherwise when the order is tracked. While this team is happy to take your money, they handle challenges extremely poorly. I'm going to submit a complaint through my bank. Next year I will go back to ordering from Randazzo's since they are reliable and respectful. read more

Five stars for service! Everyone is sooo nice here! It's a plus that it's right by my apt. I love the variety of king cakes and the different non-traditional flavors they offer. I definitely go for fun flavor Friday's. This week, I got the Oreo cream king cake and Wedding cake king cake. But in actuality, it was not a wedding cake king cake. instead i recieved a pineapple/lemon filling. I'm not a fruit filled typed king cake eater. My co workers at the hospital enjoyed it. but i wasn't able to enjoy it cause i was sold a "wedding cake" flavored king cake and received something different. The oreo cream cheese king cake was good, but i would have liked the filling to be an oreo's and cream (buttercream). I was expecting a buttercream oreo filling. It was good, but i probably won't get these two flavors. The bread is more of a brioche with a hint of citrus to it. The bread is soft, which i do enjoy. I don't like thick dense breads. therefore i love the texture of this bread. I paid roughly for two filled cakes about $55. read more

I usually order from another place but they were sold out, so based on reviews, I went with Caluda's. I ordered a raspberry and cream cheese filled king cake. & Oh my goodness we are very happy that we found Caluda's. One of the best king cakes I have had so far and I have tried them from a few different places on my trips to NOLA. FedEx had some issues getting it to me on time, but that is no fault of the business & even with the extra days the cake was still fresh and delicious. Yes! I met the Fed Ex guy at the door...I immediately opened & it faired just about perfect during delivery ...I've ordered king cakes in the past, & at least two were delivered a MESS! I used to love the king cakes and have been purchasing them from the storefront location since they originally opened - under various different names, but same great king cake. I had tasted one earlier in the season and it wasn't nearly as good as they used to be. I thought I misunderstood where my friend purchased the king cake. I went today to purchase 3 traditional ones and was surprised at how they looked. As I paid for them, I realized they weren't braided. I asked the lady waiting on me if this was the same recipe as they used to use. She looked around and then shook her head 'no' at me. The cakes used to be very moist with a good cinnamon flavor. The new recipe is drier with a more bread-like consistency and not much flavor. While they weren't terrible, they are no longer the moist delicious king cake they used to make. I wondered why there wasn't a line at 8:00 am, and now I know. I won't be returning in the future unless they return to their original recipe. read more

I ordered three king cakes for Mardi Gras and unfortunately due to the winter weather they have been delayed. I completely understand that Caluda's cannot control the weather or the operations of their shipper. However, I NEVER received a tracking number nor shipping notification for any of my three cakes. I tried calling Caluda's five times to obtain a tracking number. Their voice message has not been updated since January and it instructs you not to leave a message on that phone number. I searched for another phone number. There isn't one. There is no email address to contact them. They have not replied to numerous inquiries, not only from me, on their Facebook and Instagram pages. There is NO way to contact them. I DO NOT blame them for the weather, but customer service that is non-existent. I have never ordered anything online and not received some sort of tracking information. I am very disappointed. I will never order from them again! read more
