Have to have about the Breast Cancer Awareness King Cake they have for the month of October. It is so pretty and was so fresh even the next day. For each one sold, they are donating $10 to Oschner's Breast Surgery Recovery Fund which is amazing. We love their petit fours and also have enjoyed eclairs.

I was excited to get this King cake, but my experience was dampened by it being already packed in parchment paper and placed in a brown bag

Came to this place after exploring the Garden District and part of our itinerary is to look for a King Cake. The place is cold and welcoming (oh, airconditioner! A welcome treat in the 99 degrees heat and 85% humidity); the server was charming. After I picked and bought about 10 pieces of hand pies, I finally ordered my slice of King Cake. I was surprised that it was already wrapped! I would have wanted to see where that piece came from - the one on display was still there, and the server told me initially when we came in that the one on display was the only piece left. I took the cake a bit infuriated why my piece appeared to be pre-packed in a brown bag. At $5 a slice, I deserved a better looking, better packed one (see photo). And the cake was unexpectedly extremely, extremely sweet. I was expecting a normal cake - just like what I tasted when we had a tour of the Mardi Gras World the day before. This one's more gooey. If you're a first timer like me, make sure to specify you want a regular cake and not the gooey one. And don't lose sight of the server--at least know where that piece of cake came from :D I'd still give this 4-stars as I liked the hand pies.

Haydel's has the best king cakes. They are always fresh and melt in your mouth. The service is excellent. The staff is very helpful. It can get busy, so better to get in line early. The lines can get long during king cakes season. We also ordered turtles, red velvet squares and German chocolate squares. Everyone enjoyed them. None were left!

I was really disappointed with this cake. The decoration was okay--simple and colorful--but the real issue was the inside. The chocolate cake was extremely dry, almost hard, as if it had been sitting out for several days before being served. It was definitely not the freshness or quality I've come to expect from Haydel's, which made it even more surprising. For the price and reputation, I expected a much better product. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark.

We used Haydel's Bakery for my daughter's wedding in New Orleans, where they created a beautiful three-tier bridal cake and a one-tier groom's cake. From the very beginning, the experience was outstanding. The cake tasting alone set them apart. They took their time with us, offered tastings of all flavors, and everything was fresh--not pre-made or stale. They carefully reviewed our design ideas, listened to what we wanted, and offered thoughtful suggestions of their own. We chose Haydel's immediately because they truly listened, worked within our vision, offered creative ideas, provided a fair price, and (most importantly) the cakes were absolutely delicious. On the wedding day, the cakes exceeded our expectations. The designs were exactly what we envisioned, the flavors were incredible, and everything arrived on time and was displayed just as we requested. Haydel's is an outstanding bakery and a true professional in every sense. Highly recommend.

The customer service was amazing from beginning to end. I have never ordered my birthday cake before. My sister do this for me. However I wanted to do it myself this year. The lady that took my order was super patient with me. Even after my card declining several times. My cake was so delicious and fresh. Everyone at my party raved about how delicious it was. I was a bit jealous because they didn't raved about my cooking like they did the cake . Thanks haydel staff for a beautiful/delicious birthday cake

Haydel's has one of the best king cakes in the area. I visited on a Saturday afternoon almost at closing time and even though Emily H. reminded me that there were only 10 minutes left to closing time, I completely ignored her unpleasant attitude because I wanted my petit fours. Their petit fours are good. The cake underneath the royal icing is moist and it melts in your mouth. Overall, this is a great place to visit if you are craving something sweet.

    Stale cake!

Service was great and I really liked the almond cupcake. I got a king cake for an office party and it was a bit.

Go there for King Cake. Mailing is pricey unfortunately. But what's new. Not my "go to" bakery, but acceptable.

There are some cute tables and chairs outside as well as about 10-15 seats at counters inside. I was greeted when I walked in and got in line at the counter. The pastries looked so fresh and delicious it was hard to choose just one. I went with a Pan O Chocolat, a chocolate filled croissant and iced latte. The prices are typical for a coffee and pastry. The croissant was so flaky and mouth watering. I ate very slowly enjoying each bite. The iced latte was good as well. I sat right by the espresso machine and enjoyed watching the baristas making coffees. I saw one come out with a perfect heart on top. They also have full bread loaves for sale as well as items for breakfast and lunch. I will definitely be back to try another pastry.

I wasn't a fan of the cinnamon roll due to the crunchiness of the raw cane sugar on top. Ayu is a counter service restaurant with a full service coffee setup. The line moves fairly quickly, so don't be deterred if the line is out the door. Seating is very limited, so we took our items to go. Definitely worth the visit!

The establishment began as an ice cream parlor selling handmade gelato but has since expanded to include pastries, desserts, espresso, cappuccinos, & lattes. The shop embodies the old-world charm of Sicily, and everything is authentically produced in small batches from high-quality local ingredients. The first gelato flavor that founder Angelo Brocato first produced & sold was Torroncino - a vanilla-based gelato with cinnamon & ground almonds. It's still served in their shop today. Locals love their handmade gelato, Italian ices, & desserts - as do I. My favs are the cannoli and signature Italian pastries. I'm also a big fan of the Spumoni, which is served in slices (as it should be). Sadly, Angelo Brocato III passed on July 22nd at the age of 85.
