Still the best to ever do it! Ordered my baby's 2nd birthday cake. Not only was it pretty but tasted amazingly amazing. Swiss never fails.

These cakes are AMAZING!! I have always had positive experiences and will continue giving them my business until given a reason to feel differently. The cake is so soft, perfectly moist, and the icing is just the right level of sweetness -- *chef's kiss*

Flurries and original petit fours (2 dozen for $18) minus a few that were eaten!

I was looking for some sort of edible thank you treat to pair with a handwritten card by yours truly to drop off for my favorite clinic staff. I tossed around the idea of a small cake vs cookies vs brownies until I remembered how much I love petit fours so I went to trusty ol' Yelp and came across Swiss Confectionery and its impressive reviews. I figure if they can do whole cakes, petit fours must be a cake-walk for them (no pun intended)! Because I'm very much a planner and have learned that bakery shops in New Orleans often sell out of things early (and subsequently close for the day), I called to inquire about a dozen petit fours. The gentleman on the phone (Josh, I believe) was so polite and assured me that I could come in any time of day during their 8-4pm business hours and they'd have at least a dozen on hand since it was the holidays and they were baking up a bunch. Still somewhat nervous, I showed up right at 8am hoping to snag some petit fours. I was a little nervous because I saw a sign that said 'pick up only' outside their shop in the American Can apartments and thought to myself perhaps I should've insisted on placing an order with the helpful associate on the phone. So I nervously called and was told that I could just come on in and pick those up (crisis averted!) so I'm not sure what the 'pick up only' sign is intended for. Anyways, I go inside and immediately greeted with the most decadent of smells. I ask for some petit fours and am pointed to 'the flurries' and they are the most precious little petit fours I've seen. I hate that I don't have a picture to share with you all but they're the petit fours with stars on them. A dozen of these were beautifully packaged in a Swiss Confectionary see-through top box for just $10. I asked the clerk if she could help me attach my thank you card to the box and she kindly obliged by tying their red-and-white twine to it. It made for the perfect little thank you happy! I also picked up a box of these flurries for myself which disappeared in 2 days! My hubby and I enjoyed them so much that I took him to Swiss Confectionary days later to get some more. Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the dozen-flurries-for-$10 for sale but I was able to snag a mix of flurries and their original petit fours for $18 - see pic! I'll be keeping Swiss Confectionary in my back pocket for all my edible gifts in the future as well as a much needed pick me up for myself!

The picture my husband showed the bakery in regard to what he wanted.

The cake tasted fine, so this review isn't a matter of if the cake was good or not. However, I am extremely disappointed in the execution & the drastic difference between what my husband asked for vs what he received. Yesterday was my 27th birthday & my husband ordered a cake from Swiss to pick up on his way home from work to surprise me with when he got home. Unfortunately, he is way too kind to express that the cake didn't look anything like what was discussed/agreed upon & also did not want to show up empty handed so he still paid for the cake. I feel like it was extremely unfair to my husband that he was told that they could make the cake he asked for but instead made something that is nowhere near what he was expecting. The cake tasted fine but we will not be returning for any cakes that are even remotely difficult/complex. Pictured below is what he asked for & what was made by the bakery

Delicious cakes! Always fresh. Love the buttercream icing, pineapple filling, and almond flavor wedding cake flavor.

We hired Swiss Confectionery to make our wedding cake after recommendations from some of our best friends in New Orleans. It was their classic white almond cake, with pineapple and raspberry filling. We sent them our inspiration idea, based on our wedding invitations and they did a fantastic job executing our vision. And the cake was absolutely delicious on top of it all! We would HIGHLY recommend Swiss!!!

We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children (one being only 2 years old), and because of that they changed our table type from a 4-top to a 5-top and made us wait an additional 30 minutes. Meanwhile, multiple tables became available that easily could have accommodated us, but the hostess was determined to keep telling us we had to wait. To make matters worse, there was open bench seating in the back where customers ordering to-go could sit. I offered to order food to-go so we could at least sit down and get started while waiting, and she told me if I did that they would remove our name from the waitlist because "you have to pick one or the other." No willingness to problem solve whatsoever. She repeatedly said she was "sorry," but her actions showed the opposite. I was simply trying to work together to find some reasonable solution instead of continuing to watch everyone else get seated while our family, including small children, kept waiting. Absolutely horrible customer service experience.

I wasn't a fan of the cinnamon roll due to the crunchiness of the raw cane sugar on top. Ayu is a counter service restaurant with a full service coffee setup. Their coffee is also really good and pairs perfectly with the food. The staff does a great job keeping up with the rush. The only downsides come down to space and logistics: Limited Seating: There is very little room inside, so it fills up fast. Outdoor Seating & Smoking: Because inside is tight, you often have to sit outside. Unfortunately, people were smoking in the outdoor seating area, which makes for a pretty unpleasant experience if you're trying to enjoy your food and fresh air. Parking: It can be quite a hassle to find a spot on busy days, so be prepared to circle the block. Overall, the food and drinks are a 5/5 and absolutely worth the trip, just keep the seating and parking limitations in mind if you're planning to stay and eat!

This French bakery offers authentic pastries, hand-made croissants, brunch fare, & espresso drinks. The high-ceilings, white tile, and marble tabletops emit a European café vibe. There is also a charming courtyard if you want to soak in some sunshine. I first learned about this bakery when staying at the Hotel Villa Convento across the street. They served their buttery rich croissants as part of their continental breakfast. (I'm not sure if they still do.) Now that I have a house in the Quarter, I take a morning stroll over here to pick up croissants to take home. The butter croissants are a bargain at $3.50. I also love the chocolate & almond (both are $3.95 each), as well as the crisp & flaky Palmiers & delicate Almond Florentines. When I have guests, I bring them back a Ham & Cheese Croissant - a bargain at $5.50. They always ask me to bring another the next day.
