TEN PROBLEMS WITH CCCH: None of my comments should be perceived as slander. Calvary Chapel Chino Hills is filled with Bible-believing Christians who love the Lord. Pastor Jack Hibbs loves the Lord and is my brother in Christ. I appreciate MUCH of what he stands for and offers. But I must list my critiques, with hopes that change comes to CCCH. 1) Pastor Jack Hibbs does not do deep exegesis. You'll be treated to a dose of cheesy stand-up comedy. Instead of exegesis of Scripture, which should involve giving the church the history and grammar regarding the text, Hibbs will give his APPLICATION. I'd rather he extract the gold that the Lord has placed in the text, than he give his personal application. 2) Hibbs seemingly will not rebuke the immodest dress that is exhibited in this church. Never heard it in many years. Men, be prepared to see women with short shorts, and plenty of skin showing. (1Peter 3:3) Flip-flops are part of the culture here ... people dressed as if they were going to 7-11. 3) Hibbs promotes the anti-Biblical concept of hearing the voice of God. He has actually stated, from the pulpit, times that God has spoken to him, telling the congregation the very words that God supposedly told him. This is obviously dangerous and adding to the Word of God, Scripture. For more info, see Greg Koukl of str.org ... he has a series called "Decision-Making and the Will of God" that totally (and Biblically) refutes this teaching. 4) Hibbs regularly defends the adulterous Donald Trump, seemingly not understanding that the kingdom of God is not furthered thru political endeavors. (I am NOT a Democrat.) Remember that Trump stated that he DOES NOT ask for forgiveness from God. He mocked a Baptist's faith during the campaign. He held up the LGBT flag a month before the election last year, and allows men to use the female restroom in Trump Tower. Can these pastors STOP with the Christian Nationalism?!?! In fact, during the 2012 election season, Hibbs stated that NOT voting for Romney was SIN. So I called the church to question this and was told that the Bible teaches voting in elections because Moses "elected" godly men to be authorities. I lovingly pointed out that the Scripture says those men were "SELECTED", not "elected." (Voting for Romney was a gray area issue for many Christians because they didn't want to help legitimize Mormonism.) Lastly on this issue, the praise of the Founders is really going too far at CCCH. Of the top 8 Founders, most were not Christians. (John Adams denied the Trinity, for example.) Some were flat-out perverts. Pastor Jack gives a one-sided view of the Founders. For further research on this, see Gregg Frazer's (Master's College professor) work called "The Religious Beliefs of America's Founders". 5) The praise and worship music often draws from Jesus Culture and Hillsong, among other dangerous and doctrinally-lacking charismatic movements. Jesus Culture was birthed in Bethel Church in Redding, CA. If you aren't familiar with the crazy antics, emotionalism, and dangerous teachings at Bethel, watch the Strange Fire conference on YouTube which took place at Grace Community Church a few years back. For a church to even play a single song from Bethel-associated musicians speaks volumes. Hillsong, on the other hand, was recently in the news because of its hipster pastor in NYC REFUSING to condemn abortion on The View. Hillsong has a seemingly tolerant view of homosexuality, and compromised itself long ago. There are so many godly musicians out there to choose from ... but CCCH allows their worship team to select music that appeals to either the youth, the sappy, or the charismatic. Many songs are really feminized, sadly. 6) Hibbs is absent from the pulpit regularly. (I am not referring to his recent stint away for medical reasons. I continue to pray for his health.) He has often taught the flock on Sunday morning using a flat screen at a remote location. FLAT SCREEN PASTORS are not shepherding the flock. 7) The church is technically in CHINO, not Chino Hills. Yet the church uses Chino Hills in the name. Weird. 8) Promoting David Barton isn't good, either. Long lists could be complied of the sloppy historical research that Barton has practiced. Google "Warren Throckmorton David Barton" to see some of the problems and errors associated with Barton's work. 9) The church bookstore isn't a priority. It should be. Why do they not carry the MacArthur Study Bible? 10) Pastor Jack isn't clear on various doctrines. For example, what is his view on Eternal Security? Can a born-again, regenerated believer walk away from the faith and end up in hell? The position one takes on this question (though not an ESSENTIAL doctrine) says a lot. Also, if Calvary Chapel believes that "tongues" and other revelatory gifts are still active today, why doesn't CCCH practice it during the weekly assembly as 1Cor 14:26 exhorts us to? read more

Jack Hibbs has appeared in videos produced by Ingenuity Films. The man behind Ingenuity Films is Brent Miller Jr., but his father, Brent Miller, also appears to be involved. As a result of Jack Hibb's involvement with the Millers, many Christians are aware of the Millers and trust them. Brent Miller has produced a New Testament called the "Pure Word" translation. It is marketed as the "purest" translation ever of the New Testament, yet it appears that neither of the Millers know Greek. Which explains the errors of the "translation". Translators usually stay clear of interpretation. Their job is to translate. The "Pure Word" is largely interpretation. Any translators involved in this project are not revealed. Even though it is supposedly literal and word for word, many words have been added -- words that are "literally" not there in the Greek or that can even be inferred. These additions radically alter the meaning of certain texts. Miller claims to have used originals, but no one has originals of the New Testament. We have very early copies, but we do not have original manuscripts or even portions of original manuscripts. They do not exist. Miller claims Jesus spoke Koine Greek, yet most scholars agree Jesus spoke Aramaic; especially since Jesus is recorded speaking Aramaic from the cross and when raising Jairus's daughter from the dead. I e-mailed Jack Hibbs on October 25th about the "Pure Word" Translation of the New Testament produced by Miller. I received an e-mail later that day from Robin. It stated that they had forwarded my concern to the Millers and agreed that it was a potentially serious matter, but I have heard nothing else from Jack Hibbs or Robin. I know there have been devastating fires in California, but the Holy Bible is on fire, too, and Brent Miller lit that match. That fire needs to be put out also. Brent Miller says he has been working on this "translation" for 20 years, which means that while he was producing this "translation", he was producing a video, "The Horizon Project", which predicted a catastrophic pole shift in 2012. He is a proven false prophet. In his "Horizon Project" video, which came out around 2007, he endorsed Mother Shipton, Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, ancient Mayan and Incan prophets, human evolution, and Darwinism. He called the video his life-long work in interviews he did on Coast 2 Coast. "The Horizon Project" has numerous New Age thinkers in it, and Miller himself came across as a New Age teacher. Miller's presentation was melodramatic. He was constantly leaning into the camera and speaking in a whisper as if he was sharing secret knowledge, and he started off the video by claiming that he was finally revealing the truth to the world. As if God had not already revealed it in His Holy Word. Bible prophecy was barely mentioned in "The Horizon Project", and when it was, it was given no more credence than Mother Shipton, Nostradamus, or any of the other "prophets" I mentioned. I assumed that had been before Miller became a Christian and had been repented of. It certainly seemed that he tried to scrub all evidence of it from the Internet, but the internet has a long memory. Now, though, according to Miller's own testimony, he was working on the "Pure Word" Bible "translation" at the same time that he was producing that New Age video predicting a world-ending pole shift in 2012! The fact that he is a proven false prophet, and apparently doesn't even know Greek, disqualifies him from translating the Word of God! After his disastrous failure with that video, he dropped out of the public eye to a large extent and his son emerged as the front man. Now the son has taken countless pre-orders for a video that was supposed to be released a year ago and still hasn't come out. According to the e-mail from Robin, neither Jack Hibbs, Jan Markell, J.D. Farag, or Amir Tsarfati, all appearing in Ingenuity's latest video, were aware of the translation or the other issues I've brought up. However, since Hibbs asked them, and I also e-mailed Jan Markell, they must be aware of them now. It is one thing to be wrong on non-salvation issues, but to mishandle the entire NT is another matter entirely. I am posting this here because this has the potential to reach many people. Hibbs and the other teachers need to publicly address this since they had much to do with introducing the Millers to the Christian world and selling their products in the first place. Teaching is great, but should you need anything you definitely cannot count on the pastoral staff or the church to be there as they should. The church office lady (shoulder-length blond hair) doesn't even listen carefully to the message nor do most of the folks that are volunteers. You ask a question about specifics relating to what Pastor Jack said last week and no one has a clue even though they attended. The office lady is condescending, organizes her desk to avoid eye contact and tries to get rid of you by treating you like a child ( a child should not be treated like this either.) You make and appointment to talk with an elder and they have their own agenda. You ask if there is an elder's board that can give assistance to hardworking people in need of help/assistance and the answer is no. The elder I spoke with is not trained in counseling and suggested moving in with a relative I had just said was abusive so that he could fein giving advice. pathetic and dangerous. Counselors should offer hope not despair. I needed financial help and even after suggesting that funds or tithes might be set aside for such help, he was useless. As I walked out sobbing 4 office women were wasting time ( which clearly looked to have been going on for some time and was commonplace) hovering over some pictures and all of them for sure were recieving a paycheck and I barely had enough gas to get back home and have been ea ting hamburgers do to lack of funds. It is pathetic. Most of the money from tithes probably goes overseas to people whose governments refuse to take responsibility while we here in the church body are not given a second thought. This is not Jesus' heart. This elder said because the church is big now they cannot help people due to liability. So elder, are you really being the salt. No you are not. Just as pastor jack is held to higher accountability so too are you and you have failed along with your elder group in. to caring for.the needs of the flock. This church is a very misleading establishment from what it seems to be leading away from church organization and proper manner of worship to god. They have speakers and donations that go to supposed "band equipment" making it look like a concert and music festival rather than a house of worship. Also have come to realize the pastor is a corrupt man who is using the people as a figure of praise rather than of submission to god and teacher among the people. Like 2 peter 2:3 states "In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping." This directly relates to the pastor Jack Hibbs as he is a wolf in a sheep's clothing informing the audience on political opinions and bias reformative narratives to convey the audience to fall swiftly with his indoctrination rather than preaching solely the word of god and his laws he bestowed upon us. If anyone with a will has an open critical line of thinking they would be wise to turn away from these false preachers as they will receive their judgment more harshly from their deception and unholiness prophiting off of the lambs of God. First time and last time going here, this place deserves a zero. Behind the plasma screen TVs and audio visual equipment is a disgusting look at the mutilated and bastardized Christian faith being presented in this building. 10 minutes in and the pastor comes off with a right wing political agenda, slideshow and all. Regardless of political affiliation, this is a church (I think) and not a disguised Christian rock trump rally (If it is, please put a banner outside or something). Frankly, it doesn't seem very Christian like to verbally attack those who need help (the undocumented) so right off the bat it got very uncomfortable. Also, to start getting signatures to have the CA governor resign definitely shows the agenda behind this "church". Literally the feeling of vomit is what got me to walk out and forget this polished nightmare of a building exists. Honestly, this could be a review for a bad restaurant that I got food poisoning from (sadly, this experience was far worse). Overall, after this experience, I urge people not to go here. Plenty of churches with no agendas exist and just do as they are intended to do. They might be difficult to find, but yelp can help with research. The people putting great reviews here are neither brainwashed, trump supporters or just your old fashioned cherry picking Christians (sad truth). Either way, you attending this church and choosing to regularly attend shows your true colors. It's your decision at the end of the day. Jack Hibbs is overly consumed by only preaching politics, how COVID is overrated and just like the flu, Trump. None of these topics have anything to do with the Calvary Chapel philosophy nor leading non Christians to Jesus. To gather over 3000 people per service with no masks and no social distancing during a pandemic repels non Christians to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. But for Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, it is more important to be politically, wear no masks than to save souls. The Bible says it is better to obey than to sacrifice. Yet this church teaches their congregation to be defiant against science and COVID. Sorry this is suppose to be a church not a group of anarchy of punk rockers. Satan is winning this fight as non christians are being turned off to the gospel because of no masks and defiant attitude and Jack Hibbs does not see it. I moved to Riverside County and was looking for a church. If you want a Pastor who will preach the Bible in it's context, this church is for you. I was going to churches and I was soooooo sick of pastors preaching their own personal agenda/opinion and trying to support it with a few verses here and there. Pastor Jack will open the Bible, read it, give you the context, and you get the Word of God without compromise. (Keep up the good work Pastor Jack! Keep doing what you are doing! You rock! It's not easy to preach God's Word uncompromised in a world where America is sliding from God's values to "MTV" values). I can't give this church 5 stars because I am a married millennial with no kids and there is no marriage ministry for me and my wife. Small groups are closed all summer, so we can't meet anyone. We tried the "marriage ministry", but it only meets once a month and there are ZERO small groups in this marriage ministry, and so you sit, listen, and leave just like it is a Sunday morning service--and did I mention it only meets once a month?! How do you get to know other married couples when the ministry only meets once a month and there are no small groups? I feel like there are great programs for people with kids and for baby boomers, but for young married millennials I believe it will be tough to get plugged in. So my wife and I love Sundays here, we love doing the CALL Ministry Tuesday nights, but for fellowship we attend a small group at a different local church so that we can actually grow in relationships with other Christian married millennials that meet every single week. read more

This church is absolutely wonderful. Divides the word of God correctly and reverently. It stays true to biblical values despite our ever changing world and refuses to be conformed to anything other than the Bible! It teaches exegetically verse by verse through each book of the Bible! However due to recent events is going through a rare topical teaching on bible prophecy. I've noticed many of the negative reviews are highly misinformed or altogether untrue. This place is not a political meet, however in godly fear, recognizes the impact and importance politics has on our society. This church simply stands for biblical values in ALL areas of life. Not just concerned with its 4 walls, but what will actually affect the nation. This is in fact biblical. Prophets where not highly esteemed for their messages Regarding the nations and their "politics" either. But it had to be said. This place is also not a Trump campaign as I've seen sprinkled in the reviews. Trump just so happened to have closer views to the biblical values than the opposing candidate. Pastor Jack regularly mentions it is not trump himself but his policies that more align with biblical values. Of course not perfectly but definitely more so than the other candidate. As Christians we are to be involved in ALL aspects of life. Not in our own personal bubbles. For this I'm proud to call this church home as it uncompromisingly teaches Gods word and to LIVE it in all areas of life! read more

I happen to like CCCH and Pastor Jack also. I came from a pagan background and was immediately accepted by everyone as well as my children. Everyone has a kind smile and a hello for us. When I went to the Women's Bible Study, everyone there went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, EVERYONE. I am sure that there are cliques, but no one has been mean or rude to me. I am not one of the good looking people or the physically fit, but that hasn't stopped the congregation from being nice to me. Pastor Jack may not know me by name, but he is always nice, even when I see him in public, and so are the other members of the worship team. I can ask any questions, even if I think they are dumb, and I will get an answer. They will help me. I am sorry that some people feel disenchanted with CCCH, the church has had it's share of problems, but it is still a great church. Pastor Jack reads straight from the bible and does add some of his wisdom and experience to his sermons, but the core is right there in the Bible. My kids love the children's ministry, even my 13 year old son that doesn't like anything right now. Give the church a try, you might just like it. Hey, it reformed an old witch like me. I am writing to express my concern regarding an experience I had during a recent visit to Calvary Chapel Chino Hills 2/16/25 1:00 pm service. Specifically, I was disheartened to observe how families with babies and toddlers were treated in the "Family with Children" section. During the service, when our child or other children made a noise, I noticed one volunteer or staff member (she was wearing an American flag dress) looking at us with disdain or making us feel uncomfortable and even made a comment towards us for simply trying to participate in the service with our child. This created an unwelcoming and stressful environment, which is contrary to the spirit of inclusion that a place of worship should embody. If families with children are expected to use a designated section, it is essential that this area truly be supportive of young families. If volunteers or staff are unable to create a positive, accepting atmosphere, I would recommend reconsidering the inclusion of this designated section in the main chapel altogether. Perhaps a more suitable arrangement, where families can worship in peace without feeling judged, could be explored. read more

Worst church ever. Hibbs is nothing but a political hack. If you want to be filled with God's word and spirit, don't bother coming to this church. It's one of the worst churches that I've ever attended. Hibbs started off by spreading lies and misinformation about COVID. He mocked people who wear masks. He behaves more like a juvenile mean girl than a pastor. He is a big Trump supporter who turns a blind eye on Trump's unrepentant immorality and ridiculously fawns over him. It's appalling and it's beneath any self-respecting pastor or man of God. This church is a farce. My friends and I walked out in the middle of the service in complete disgust. Luckily we found a wonderful church that truly preaches and practices God's word. Do yourself a favor and don't bother coming to this joke of a church if you truly care about hearing God's word and be surrounded by God's love. Seems consistent with the Moses Model. (Low level of accountability.) - Pastor fancies himself an expert on Middle Eastern affairs although he lacks the education, insight and experience to entertain the idea that not all Christians are Zionists and that not all non-Israelis are inherently anti-Semitic or anti-Christian. He can't even spell Hamas correctly. It is a valid interpretation of I Samuel 8 and other Scripture that the nation-state of Israel is not perfect and its violence is not always justified. -Calvary Chapel presents itself as a post-denominational, or non-denominational church, and doctrinally ambiguous; they are against Calvinism, don't believe in demon-possession, pastors aren't required to attend college or seminary, etc. read more
