It's not for everyone. My best advice is to build community safely. There are some testimonies that seem to be " dissected" by those in charge of ministry. If you're a new Ager coming out of divination, dark covens etc- they don't know how to meet these types of people where they're at. I have been a member of Calvary Chapel in Oceanside, CA for about 2 years now but I stopped going to this church location when a lot of important things in my life was happening to me. But I still have come back to Calvary Chapel Church when I can . I was at their 11 a.m. church service recently and when I arrived with 2 of my woman friends, I was still welcomed with open arms. It's a wonderful experience to have this church congregation still welcome me with love and support. Pastor Dan is an amazing person and a very powerful speaker. His sermon was on The Words We Say to People can either lift up someone's heart or the Words You Say to Someone Can Make Someone Feel Sadness! I enjoyed listening to Pastor Dan's Words of Wisdom because he is a very passionate person in his words and very kind with his congregation. Everything that Pastor Dan has spoken to me and to his church was very honest about the words we say to people we interact with on a daily basis. Pastor Dan is an Amazing Speaker and a very devoted person to his ministry and to his wife and children. I also like their volunteers one lady her name is Rose . I asked Rose how long has she been a member at Calvary Church? Rose said for 20 years now. That's a very long time to be a loyal member at Calvary Christian Church. I also enjoyed their live music. There was a group of younger men and women who were playing electric guitars , one man was playing the drums, and two women were singing their Christian Songs to me and everyone in this church . I felt God's presence that day. God has been in my life since I was a child. I love God snd I can't imagine my life without him always supporting me and loving me. People are friendly here and that's probably because they emphasize a lot of community and serving within their own congregational Christian bubble. The Biblical teaching overall is basic with unfortunately an all too common mix of heretical or apostate views. If you're a Berean, you'll find yourself writing lots of emails or just leaving this church altogether. What can improve is the pastors knowledge, study of God and teaching of the full counsel of His Word. Stick to the scriptures and teach Gods Word not your own opinions or personal translations not supported by scripture. Sermons presented at the pulpit should perhaps be reviewed involving their board of elders and not just the Senior pastor and/or the Executive pastors alone. This Calvary is independent and not under an over all board of elders above their own within themselves. It seems to be run more of a business than a church. This is a place for everyone, respectfully which ever religion you do or do not believe in, you are welcome and can come take a seat to listen to uplifting positivity and come to many activities the church hosts. Note: Offerings are 100% Optional! No one is expected to give money for offering, this is completely optional! Only if you want to, and are able, you may give money in the offering. You may also sit here if you like to sit at a table with chairs *Food and beverages are allowed in this room! There is also a 2 more children/ babies rooms but I'm unfamiliar with them. I believe with a youth bible study class/service. 3. Hallway Next to the restroom and water fountain. When I spoke with Pastor Dan and Pastor TK you can tell they are speaking with loving and good intentions to give to God, to the people, to churches, to strangers, to anyone who crosses their path, they do their best for others. People open the door for you and greet you kindly, nod or smile at you. This is a place of peace and love. You can come here to get a positive, uplifting message that is applicable to your life if you apply it. You can enjoy loving company of the church community. Everyone here is so friendly. I can see Gods love being exhibited throughout this church. The Jr. high ministry has been a huge benefit for my daughter. She is engaged in weekly church not only on Sundays, but also Wednesdays for the junior high Group and also involved in Wednesday school of worship. Nowadays, teenagers can be such a nightmare, but I've seen my daughter change for the better and I'm so thankful to Mario and RJ, God rest his soul. Without their junior high ministry, I don't know where I'd be right now dealing with my daughter and navigating this teenage craziness. I'm a single mom so life can be a huge struggle. I'm so grateful for the helping with guiding my daughter. She's also been to the winter camp and the summer camp that the church helped me pay for through scholarship. I would've never been able to pay for this on my own and I don't know what I would do if I didn't feel the love this church shows. read more

I've been a member of Calvary Chapel Oceanside since 1990. CCO has changed and grown significantly since then. Venue: The church has several areas where you can listen to the message: Main Sanctuary, Family Sanctuary (aka the cafe), the Upper Room, Nursing moms room, and Family room. The Main Sanctuary is accessible from the front of the church and where most new people head to when they arrive. However, to minimize distractions children under the age of 10 (I think and it could have changed - my kids are older so it doesn't apply to me) aren't allowed in the main sanctuary. This doesn't mean that CCO doesn't want your child to hear the word of God. It simply means that to be respective to the adults who want to hear the message without disruption, the sanctuary is a young children-free zone. Before you pull our your pitchforks, keep reading. If you come for a concert, play or special events, it'll be held in the Main Sanctuary and young children are welcome in the Main Sanctuary during those times. No food or drinks are allowed in the Main Sanctuary. Wi-Fi is spotty unless you sit towards the front of the Sanctuary. (If you're new school and use a Bible app on your tablets or cellphones.) The Family Sanctuary (used to be called the Cafe for so long and I still can't get used to the new name) is child friendly. The Family Sanctuary is a more casual atmosphere where you can enjoy coffee, donuts, and your breakfast while watching a live broadcast video feed from the Sanctuary into the Family Room. You can get to the Family Sanctuary by using the side doors near the tented patio area alongside the parking lot. (To the right of the front of the church, if you haven't entered the building.) Or if you've entered the front doors, turn right, go past the elevator and through the double doors and turn left. The Upper Room is the Spanish speaking ministry located upstairs (turn left at the top of the stairs or as you exit the elevator). The Nursing moms rooms is perfect if you're nursing young kids and want to keep them with your during the service or don't want to have to get up during the service to nurse. It's adjacent to the Main Sanctuary with a window that looks directly into the Sanctuary and live audio feed. You'll find the Nursing moms room in the hallway before the men's restroom. The Family room (used to be called the Fathers room) is a place where dads can go with their young children when their wife isn't at church and their kids don't want to go to the children's ministry. I think it's now open to moms too. The Family room is down the hallway after the tv ministry and before the Green room. So long story short: if you don't want to put your young kids in their respective age appropriate children's ministry rooms you have several options outside of the Main Sanctuary: you can go the the Family Sanctuary or the Nursing Mom or Family Room. In addition CCO has a high school room, junior high room, children's room (divided by age groups), and infant rooms. These rooms are for children of those respective ages. So high schoolers hang out with the high school crowd, junior highers kick it with other middle school students, and so forth. Service: You can attend on Saturdays at 5:55 p.m. (= sleep in Sunday morning). Or you can come on Sundays at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. Tip: Saturdays are less crowded and it's easier to get out of the parking lot. There's several different ministries: bookstore, outreach, prison ministry, home fellowships, food pantry, etc. etc. Lots to offer. Before my wife and I were called to the south, Calvary Chapel Oceanside was home. The emphasis on God's word and standing on the truth and authority of scripture is so refreshing. The church leadership are Holy Spirit filled and lead and they have a genuine heart for the community. I love that they also have a heart to cultivate Gods word in the youth through their children's, youth and young adults ministries. My wife and I experienced such genuine love care when we attended here. The worship was always awesome. They have a genuine heart for offering excellence to God! I can't say enough about Calvary Chapel Oceanside. Our Family has been attending for Ten Years and Pastor Dan has been leading for a couple years at least now with the passing of Pastor Mike Reed. Pastor Dan has been at CCO for many , many years under Pastor Mike Reeds Leadership prior, and all the different rolls he took on from Tech. Dept. to Mens Ministry(Man-UP) and everything in between has been blessed by his passion for Ministry at whatever role God has in store for him at CCO! Go to CCO website and watch previous lessons to get a feel for the church. Calvary Chapels teach from the Word of God- chapter by chapter, verse by verse which is a blessing getting down to the nitty gritty and no feel good fluff, just to amp you up temporarily. But teach the great commission, to make disciples and spread Gods Love. I feel convicted to be a better person in Christ with every lesson. CCO's leadership Pastors under Pastor Dan are all exceptional at their ministries from outreach, Family and Marriage, childrens ministry-Calvary kids club, Jr. high, Highschool, the food ministries, mens and woman's ministry, home fellowship etc. etc. -Pastor Brian in the worship ministry is incredible and has been leading worship forever(what a voice and musician), and his team is amazing! My kids have been blessed under his leadership and are part of the worship team playing worship for years and years. And through -School of Worship-CCO gives kids opportunity to learn how to praise God through music and develope a passion foe worship mysic. My daughter(16) plays bass for Highschool worship and main sanctuary when needed and loves what she does. My oldest Boy is now perusing his passion for Tech after years of Jr. high/ Highschool worship. And now he has been through an Internship in the tech dept. at CCO and is now employed by CCO while furthering his Tech. Passion through Mira Costa's AA/General Ed program and still gets to play drums from time to time for worship! PTL!!! - I could go on and on what they do for our community and my family and all the families I've come to know over the years. I feel blessed to be part of this church, and I'm not always actively seeking what God has in store for me due to my own stupidity. But I feel CCO, has a passion to help make me the man God wants me to be and the Leader my family deserves through the Love of Jesus Christ and His plan for me. My family walked in the doors and sat down. We were immediately approached by someone who said our 3 year old is not allowed in the church service. All young kids are required to go the a separate childcare center during worship services. I understand this is a very large church. I understand that many young kids can be disruptive. That does not mean you can ban them from worshipping with their families. Provide the childcare service for those who wish to use it. But never ever forbid anyone from attending worship. Jesus himself said "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Calvary Chapel of Oceanside has been the place where I have grown and matured in god's word and gain more clairaity of the bible's message. Calvary Chapel has been a guide to find the important things in life and be content in my present existence not seeking wealth and power, but the joy in the order of doing what God requires of someone like myself ,not justifying things in my own mind and making my own truth (not God's truth) and making up my own rules and laws. Sometimes going as far believing the original sin of thinking I am equal to God the creator and becoming an enemy of his son who has paid the price for my continued existence. If you are looking for a hard line right wing message from the pastor, this church could be for you. This is a huge facility and full congregation with a very professional praise band that plays for about 1/2 hour at the beginning of the service. First thing the pastor said after coming on stage the Sunday I was there, after a short prayer, was about the terrible political news and all the backbiting. He explained that the Supreme Court nomination hearings are now really all about murder. This clear reference to Roe v Wade and the misguided assumption that women are too stupid to evaluate and make decisions about their future was shocking to hear from the pulpit. Educated discussion of opinions about serious and nuanced issues is always welcome, but black and white declarations from the pulpit are not. I walked out. read more

I thought church was where we go with an open heart and mind to receive what GOD has to say... Going to hear gods word, and to worship him and HIM only.. Is about whether the lead singer has talent or not OR if the lady at the door is sweet and kind every Sunday how we expect her to be, since she "Christian" but is about us giving ourselves to GOD and understanding that we are all broken. Nobody is perfect and everyone is broken some way or another, wether you're visiting for the first time or wether you have been serving there for years and you're not having a good day as any other person. If only instead of seeing the negative why can't we be part of that change and MAKE the change we would like to see in others rather than pointing fingers and just going from church to church hoping to find a "good church". I am blessed to have found CCO in many ways and as they might be in a bad mood i have been too because I struggle too and for that reason no man.
