Camaloch Golf Course - Golf Near Me - Camano Island, Washington

The golf course itself is not an easy one definitely in my opinion need a cart and they have issues managing carts first come first served. For the drive to Camano Island I would expect more organization as a golf course. The Rockaway is the part that elevates this course. The lack of cart management and starter brings this place down a little in my opinion. The greens are ok a lot of clover around everywhere which means this place is not super well taken care of. I expected more for how everyone talks this place up. Rockway is awesome but the carts have no cooler so they have to offer you a bucket of ice. What am I in Mexico? Get with the times with what you are charging. The driving range is kind of beat down. This place is not a dog track but its not stellar. read more

Sad to say but I have been plying this course for 25yrs and it is in the worst shape I have ever seen. Raw Sewage leaking out at Hole 18 next to the driving range should be enough to get the place shut down. Then try playing the temporary greens they have installed and still charge you a full winter rate with 20% of the greens being closed. Sad to see golf pro Gary leave he was qualified & this new pro is beyond laughable. Don't waste your time on this place Seriously. read more

Fun course! Maintenance does a good job on greens and fairways. Pro shop staff nice. A hidden gem. I play it often.

Yesterday, I traveled to play at Camaloch Golf Course, but for the first time in my life, I asked for my money back prior to teeing off and will probably not return in the near future. The woman working in the pro shop was so unprofessional, it was hard to believe she has ever worked at a golf course. She couldn't have been any more dismissive or curt. The young woman that helped with the refund should be commended, as she was very nice - a front desk asset. I called in the morning to see if I would be able to play as a single and was told by a man that I might be able to get on around 12:30 and for sure after 1:30. I arrived at 12:30 and the woman in the pro shop said it was super busy, so it would be a 2:15 start. That wasn't a problem until I heard her call a twosome and single to the tee, and other threesomes. 1. Apparently Camaloch is swimming in money, because otherwise, it's just plain bad business not to maximize revenue by sending out foursomes. Not only did she have me waiting almost 2 hours, but I would then be taking the 2:15 slot from someone else. 2. It seems there's been a number of complaints about the pace of play - not a good reputation for a course. Foursomes are the most common and efficient way of getting the most people through the golf course when demand is high. Even on slightly lighter days, it's far better to play in fours with an empty time every so often instead of smaller groups. On a busy day, my local course will *never* send a group with less than four if a single is waiting. 3. I've had so many enjoyable rounds playing with people I met on the first tee. I have to say that I find the refusal of a group or a person to pair up to be such poor etiquette and it's becoming more common. This course manager is allowing it off the first tee. If some of these short groups were club members, it was even more egregious. Camaloch is a pleasant course to play, so I hope there are improvements in the future to make it more welcoming to those traveling to Camano Island. read more

I definitely think this course deserves more than a three out of five stars. I am about a 35 handicap so beginner level, but I found this course to be fun, well maintained, and challenging. I have played at some pretty nice golf courses, Avalon links, Homestead, Battle creek (to name a few), and Camaloch is up there. Me and a friend went during twilight prices and it was cheap to play the back 9. Front 9 had a tournament or something going so we chose to play the back. The driving range is nice and what you would expect. I do wish it was covered though, so I could go drive balls during the off season. They also have practice greens. It only took my friend and I a little less than two hours to play 9 holes. It features a couple holes with some steep elevation changes which is fun. I felt that the layout of the course actually made me think about how to play the hole instead of just hit it straight and I will be fine. Quite a few holes dogleg, and there is water, sand and trees to worry about in strategic places. I had a blast here, and considering the difficulty of this course, I think it is quite a good bargain. read more

It took 3 hours to finish 9 holes. We ended at hole 12 because the play was so slow. They wouldn't let us play the back 9 the next day and blamed it on a tournament they had way earlier that morning, which was clearly over. Disappointed with this service and will not be playing here again! Play here if you want a golf round to take 6-hours!! read more

Based on the previous review, I have to wonder if it is the ninjas or the assassins that messed this place up. It is a ghetto poop hole of a course that would be more well suited to mini-golf. Hmm...did I get my point across? lol read more

Not sure what happened in 2009 with the earlier post but I thought this was a wonderful course. Not too demanding but very fun. The greens were in very good shape when we played and very readable. Full 18 with a challenging par 4 right after 2 par 5's on the back 9. The greens are challenging and all seem to be tiered so approach shots are critical. Not a huge driving range but at least there is one! They even gave us a $3 gift cert. for food at their restaurant. Food was O.K. but the "western dip" is more like a patty melt. read more

Play was so slow we quit after 9 holes. 3 hours for nine holes! The coarse had no Marshall. That would not give us a rain check for 9 holes. So they gave us a refund of $11 f our $44 we had paid for our round. He said that was the difference of nine holes and 18 holes. read more

We won't be back. Played this morning and we were the first group out. Marshall came out around the 5th and said we were setting a great pace. At the 9th, I complained that the group behind us was hitting up on us and all of a sudden we were behind pace. We finished the front in 2:15. The 4th group out was easily an entire hole behind but we were rushed. I've never had a round shorter than 5 hrs at this course but all of a sudden we needed to finish in 4. Get over yourself, Camaloch. read more

Good course with some tight fair ways. Be careful with their fast greens. You can 3 putts easily.

Nuke it till you Puke it. That's the motto here. Dripping wet deli meat on small bread with thin old tomatoes and slimy onions. Just found out they nuke the burgers too. ugh. $15 for a sandwich drink and cookie. No thanks! I have golfed at Camaloch numerous times. It is really not too bad of a golf course. The greens are usually in very good shape and they are well taken care of, a BIG plus. If you miss more than a few greens the challenge of getting up and down might be surprising, more challenging than one might think, more challenging than most public courses in the area I think. It has some pretty nice holes on the course. On the negative side the course is usually very wet this year, so unless you don't mind playing in some pretty wet conditions, you will be better off waiting until mid or late April to play the course. Because there wasn't a lot of room to build a golf course you have some fairways that run along side each other, and when it is busy out there you can run into people playing in your fairway to get to their green on holes 5 through 8 on the front 9 and holes 15 and 16 on the back. The staff up there are friendly and courteous. Over all I would rate it a solid 3 because the greens are kept in good condition. I find it to be the most fun to play on a weekday when there are not a lot of folks on the course. Give it a try. read more
