There are plenty of reasons to AVOID this company, and I'll just cite a few. No integrity in their work: This company will cut corners, damage your property, and avoid replacing what they've broken. They say they will *fix* things but won't bother to show up. Low quality items: Not even a month after my aritificial turf was installed, portions of it started to dry out and lift up. I'll include a picture of their turf supplier so that anyone can see their suppliers' reviews as well. Sketchy business practices: There is no paper trail when giving payments. Thomas only wants cash or zelle and will not provide a schedule of payment dates. Instead, he'll text you the day before and say, "I need payment of $$$$ for supplies." The zelle linked to this company is neither of Thomas, his brother, or the company's. As stated before, there is no paper trail. Last one, after deciding halfway through the job that I wanted to go with an upgrade that we had previously discussed, I wanted to make sure we were on the same page on price. Thomas had quoted me with a balance that was $500 more than the original agreed amount. Fortunately for me, I caught the discrepancy in the quote, and I called it out. Seek several quotes: Their prices fall in line or higher than other licensed businesses in the AV. The only problem is that they're no longer licensed. They will cheat you at every turn. The owner is a lying scumbag. My new concrete was poured and cracked immediately. It range and thickness from 2 inches to 1 1/2 inches. Not 4 inches like the contract stated. In some areas it was so thin that was brittle and cracked, and flaked off. Then he tried to lie and tell me it was because concrete isn't as strong of a product as it used to be.He broke so many sprinkler lines and right before they were going to pour the concrete I had them test the sprinklers. There were so many cracks underneath the concrete it took them an entire day to fix. Had I not said anything, all these broken sprinkler lines would've been underneath my concrete, and unfixable. They could not care less. He's a liar, he's a cheater, and his crew is trained to give you the worst possible product. This is the that contractor you want to avoid. I'm deliberating on posting the screenshots of his text messages where I called him out for knowingly doing a poor job and he started yelling at me and calling me names. Can you imagine, pointing out flaws of work done, and instead of fixing the problem, your contractor starts attacking you, and your character, psychopath. He's that guy, that when he gets caught cheating people he immediately flies off the handle. Psychopath. This guy has poor morals. Just your typical lying cheating contractor, no better. I contacted Richard and his team to remove some old trees/plants and replace what was there with drought tolerant landscaping and concrete a dirt path. They quoted me $6000 for all the work. Fast forward to today. I'm still waiting for them to finish the shelf we asked for, they left their wheel barrel and a few other items, and after 4 weeks all the shrub that I PAID them to be removed has grown back. How do you plant - new plants without removing all the old plants roots??? . Or at least place some barrier that the new plants wouldn't get drowned out by old weeds/roots that you didn't remove???? So now the entire landscape looks horrible because of the plants coming back... when I contacted them no one has returned my call. 6k down the drain for nothing! I wouldn't use this company again! You want a landscaper that will do a great job! We asked for plants up top for privacy. Well these struggle Charlie Brown planets aren't providing any privacy. They are basically dead! Richard and his team showed up on a Friday, 6/5 to install sod, boxwood trees, and prefab concrete squares. They were supposed to cap, adjust and/or replace the sprinklers in my front and back yard; add drip lines to flower beds, and provide me with instructions via email for maintaining the sod. My backyard measurements were incorrect, we were short sod for the backyard and. This was my fault. Richard let me know they would order more and return on Tuesday. I am giving them a 5 for the install. After the team left, i turned on the sprinklers and noticed their were spots that were not getting water. I immediately contacted Richard. Richard contacted me to let me know due to the amount of sod needed, delivery would be pushed to Friday. Friday came and so did Richard. He didn't come to my door. He went straight to the front sprinklers and resolved the lack of water issue, he never addressed the issue in the back yard. Richard did not bring the additional sod that was missing. I never received instructions for maintaining. I kept the area fenced off for 6 weeks. I noticed that I had some brown spots, so I reached out to Richard. Unfortunately, he never responded. I have been watering the grass, unfortunately, the the brown grass is spreading. The backyard sprinklers are too short, so I have to hand water. My sod was put down in June 12, 2020. I am still watering, it's not doing any good. The invoice indicated a soil treatment. I think my soil may be bad and I know they didn't fertilize the soil. At the end of the day, I spent $2,500 on sod that started dying after 4 weeks. I really wish I knew how to save it. I wish my sprinklers provided full coverage. Some of the drips don't release enough water, so I am still hand watering all of the beds. Richard did a great job getting full coverage on the front lawn. Thomas was very pleasant when we started by having him clear our existing landscape. The price was in line and they were quick and thorough. However, he said he would be back on Thursday to take measurements and start on a 3-D design for us that he was throwing in as part of our original work order. Waited weeks, no Thomas. Had a meeting with Thomas and had set on a day and to meet in the morning. later in the afternoon I contacted him if he was going to stop by and he was. I asked him if just forgot or if he meant a different day. He told me that we agreed on the day to meet but not a time. I checked my text messages (as he should have as well), and saw that he suggested meeting in the morning. This left a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. He was professional from that point on, but if you're not on top of your appointments before you get paid I wouldn't trust you with my money. EDIT: To be fair he did not specify a time and did show up after I texted him at 11:33 am. The open question is what would you consider morning? is 11:33am still morning? In September, we decided to change our front yard from (dead) lawn to xeriscape and we wanted to give a local landscaper our business, so we called Camarena. Thomas responded in a prompt manner, and we had no trouble setting an appointment with him. He arrived on time, heard us out, and gave us some lovely ideas on what we could do and what plants would work with my "must haves". Their pricing seemed reasonable, which was a relief. We took a week or so to decide on how we wanted to proceed, and when we gave the green light to start, Thomas' crew was ready to go. We asked if they could extend a drip line to our existing ocotillo and they did, no problem. They finished the job in less than a week, and during that time the entire crew was professional, and polite enough to kindly answer any questions we may have had. Thomas gave me a great recommendation for boulders and they turned out to be a lovely surprise. I thought we might have a disappointing ending when one of the bushes they planted died a few weeks later, but Thomas said he'd send some guys out to replace it. It took about a week for them to get to it, but we were fine with that, and they did replace the dead bush with a different kind (to match another they planted), so I'm happy with his attention to our unexpected tragedy - and this was after they had been paid, so no shirking of commitment once money had changed hands. Mind you, my husband has had a few questions since the job has been finished and Thomas has taken the time to answer each one, and to return to adjust the timing on the water when we asked about it. I needed more trees cleared and a concrete slab poured and Thomas came to the rescue again. Not only did he work around a bunch of wacky problems with the inspectors (that weren't his fault), but he was quick to get back to me and his price was more than fair. Thomas' guys cleared brush away, dug the trench, arranged the rebar, and poured the foundation for an addition in my backyard. He's got an impressive knowledge base and his ideas were decidedly helpful. His crew is made up of hard-working regular dudes that did a great job, and I couldn't be happier. I have more improvements scheduled this summer and I know I'm going to call Thomas again to come back. I've received everything I've paid for, on time and done right. He's earned my trust and my business and I look forward to working with him and his company in the future. I've noticed in other reviews there are complaints about missed appointments and whatnot. Although I can't comment on what others have experienced, I can say that Thomas and his company are in very high demand. We met on Friday. The work started on Monday (3 days later). The work was finished on Tuesday. The finished landscaping exceeded my expectations. I just recently had Richard and his team complete my backyard project and they really do excellent work. They basically put in new vinyl fencing, artificial turf, a brick wall and landscaping which included irrigation, new trees, planters, and some plants. Richard is hands on, and will work through any concerns. My "only" issue was communication. During the last few items of the job there was a problem getting the right vinyl fencing on the manufacture end but we had already paid the majority of the job. I understand things do happen, but there was a lack of communication with what was actually going on and when the product and installation would occur....so I did have a little bit of angst at this point. Unfortuntely, I have to only give 1 star for the service (rather non-service) that has been provided to me so far. I called almost 2 weeks ago and spoke to Thomas and he said he could provide me with an estimate to tear up my backyard and replace it with rocks and artificial grass.
