We were looking for a Montessori school for my two year old son and we're glad that we chose CPMS. It's close to our home in Camarillo and is located in a really convenient location. The best part, is that my son is starting to speak more words and sing songs when he is at home. Thank you Kathy, Yesi, and other teachers as well! My child attended this school for 2 years. May was going to be her last month and that is when I started to have issues. At the very beginning of the month my daughter was suspended for behavior even though I believe the teacher mishandled the situation. I decided to pull her from the school since it was her last month and I was told I would be refunded for the tuition I paid for May, nearly $1,200 since she only attended 2 days that month. When my follow up calls weren't actively being ignored I was told by office staff that the director Kris handled financing and would call me back. This went on for months before I gave up on being refunded. Months later I'm still upset with how they handled the situation. They discussed my personal information with my family who also had a child enrolled and even issued her a partial refund when she parted ways early, but not me. I feel disrespected by the situation and because of that I would never recommend this daycare to anyone I know personally. read more

My son Gabriel went to this school for 1 and a half year. The principle/owner Ms. Kris is very professional and will work with you on any special needs you child might have. My son barely spoke english as my family mostly spoke madarin at home and after 1 and a half year his english is almost as good as his mandarin. Mr. David who supervises the school Gabriel attended is very good with kids. He is patient and attentive to their needs, he also engages with me about how my son is doing and little things me and my wife can do at home to help Gabriel form good habits. Ms. Deborist helped my son the most, in her class my son slowly over came his shyness. He would always play alone and do everything alone, specially how he couldn't communicate with the other kids. But Mr. David and Ms. Deborist slowly but surely helped Gabriel to socialize with the other kids. When I finally told my son that we were moving to another city, Gabriel asked me "Can Ms. Deborist come with us?" All in all this was a wonderful chapter in my son's life and I highly recommend this school to any parent. read more

I don't write too many reviews but will when I know a business is worth writing about (good or bad). My son has been in daycare/preschool since he was 6 months. Though my husband and I were happy with the daycare (small, taught the kids in an outdoor setting), we felt it was important to look for a different preschool that will prepare him for kindergarten once he turns 3 yrs old. In addition, we noticed that our son didn't verbalize as much as other kids in his age group, even more reason to search for a better preschool for our son. We made the switch last 10/2022 to Camarillo Progressive Montessori School. We luv how it provided exactly what we were looking for.... A classroom setting that has a similar curriculum and daily routines as you would see in kindergarten. We luv how they provide healthy snacks for the kids and plan out different activities throughout the school year (ie bowling, visit the pumpkin patch, Cinco de Mayo fiesta, etc) He has only been there for 7 months and we are so happy with the results. They teach the kids at a young age to be independent, to be respectful to one another, to clean up after themselves, to learn how to socialize with other kids, to learn how to share, in addition to all the different learning activities. To many to lists. As I mentioned earlier, my son didn't verbalize as much prior to attending this school. Without me asking his teacher for assistance, within a few months she was proactive to inform us that our son my have a speech delay. She provided us with the necessary contacts. We are new parents so to be given this type of resource is greatly appreciated. We luv all the teachers, including the owners, Mr David and Ms Kris. Everyone is helpful, genuine, and knowledgeable. Most importantly, I luv that the school strives to keep everyone safe and maintains a clean environment for our kids. read more

If I could give this school less than one star, I would. The office manager and the director have no idea what they are doing, or how to run a business. I was overcharged and wrongfully charged multiple times. They run their payment system through an app that the office manager clearly does not understand how to use. When I brought up the multiple charges or wrong charges I was told not to worry it would be fixed. After removing my son from the school, because of these issues, I was later informed four months later that they have no record of me paying for the month he attended, with an incredibly aggressive and threatning email, even threating to go to the districts attorney's office. After calling a few times and leaving messages, with no response I ended up sending proof of the payment through email with no response once again, they sent us to collections. However, I will say my son's two teachers he had as a 3-year-old were wonderful. The teacher for the four years and over class however I don't think understands the soft teaching and style of Montessori as she was pretty abrasive with the children. I would never send my children here. If you're looking for a nice Montessori school with a wonderful staff I highly recommend Carousel Montessori! read more

My grandson has been going to this school for a few years now and he is he is getting ready to graduate. The owner and director have done a lot with this building. The teachers are very warm and loving and I think the kids feel safe with them. read more

A very happy environment with lots of organized indoor/outdoor learning and play space. They bring in outside specialists that teach children about animals, gym, etc. Grandson enjoyed and rarely wanted to miss school. read more

My 4 yr old daughter started at CPMS in March 2022, we just moved to Camarillo. She has the best time going there! I was nervous for her to start because it has been awhile since my daughter went to preschool. After her first day there, she said she loved her new school and couldn't wait to see all her new friends and her teacher Ms. D. What a positive review from a 4 yr old! Two weeks later, she is showing us random sign language signs, and practicing writing letters. Everyone is so nice there, and my daughter loves it! She especially loves Ms. D who is just so caring and sweet. Thank you CPMS for such a positive experience. I would highly recommend CPMS to any family. read more

My son had a great time at this school. He was in the preschool program and they treated him like family. The teachers were all so helpful and loved my son. The only discrepancy I have is the high price which is one of the reasons, ultimately, why we couldn't keep him in the program. However, they do a lot of fun activities, have lots of outside time, and my son made so many friends that he will be sad to leave. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a safe and fun place for their kids. read more

Our child went to this preschool for several months. He really enjoyed the socialization and did great with routines and following instructions. However, I just could not get past paying HUGE money for what is barely-glorified daycare. The facility is crowded, the playground is grimy (sand/gravel base), the staff is apathetic, and there are several teachers whose first language is Spanish (not a problem, except their English can be hard to understand). There also is a lack of professionalism among staff at times, and the facility can be chaotic and messy. It's not terrible, but for $500/month for very PT care, AND because it's a Montessori school, I would expect it to be stellar. Note: they also did not take my child's allergies seriously. Although I filled out all the forms, talked to the director in person, talked to his teachers, etc., I still observed them handing him a Dixie cup of milk at snack time. They also would dole out random treats (store-bought cupcakes, for example) at 9 or 10 in the morning. read more

This school was such a gift for our family over the last year. Our son started here in June of 2020. Our son has a lot of sensory processing needs and support with working through big emotions and behavior. We struggled in the past to find a school or childcare that would work with us as a family. Well, CPMS has worked with us and our son for more than a year and we couldn't be happier. We hoped to find a school that would work with him, recognize his needs, talk to us regularly, be open to finding what worked for him, and would be kind to him when re-directing and correcting behaviors when necessary...we found all this at CPMS. The teachers, director and administrator we so generous with their desire to work with our son and kept us informed of everything that happened during his day (positive and the struggles). I can't recommend this school highly enough - even if you don't need daycare. The positive impact on your child will take your breath away, and when it's time for your child to start grade school, they will be extremely well prepared for it. If we could go back 3 years we would send our child to this school again in a heartbeat. All of the staff have been friendly, respectful, and compassionate. We never had any problems or complaints. Sending our child to Camarillo Montessori was the best parenting decision we ever made. My child went to this school for 3 years. Originally my wife and I were only looking for a daycare. Since my wife went to a (different) Montessori when she was a little girl, and she knew someone through work that had an older child attending this school, we decided to try them out. Our child began to love going, and wouldn't want to leave at the end of the day! They helped so much with potty training, manners, personal responsibility, and so many other critical, early-childhood developments. After attending for about a year and a half, a family member moved in with us so we no longer needed someone to watch our child during the day. However, the school was having such a good influence on our child (and they enjoyed it so much) we kept going. We really could have used the extra money we'd save each month from keeping our child home, but the results of the school's teachings were so positive that it was a very easy decision for us to stay. Our child is now in Kindergarten and thriving. Educationally our child is ahead of the curve, socially mature, responsive and obedient to the new teacher, and comfortable in the new classroom. My daughter started here at age 2. She's now almost 4 and has progressed from the age 2 "Teddy Bears" class to the age 3 "Panda Bears" class to now being in the age 4 "Brown Bears" class. I cannot say enough good things about this program. The teachers are caring, attentive, and extremely professional. My daughter's social skills and communication skills has sky-rocketed under this school's tutelage. She has made new friends, gone on amazing field trips, and learned so much. My 4 year old daughter has been attending at CPM since July of 2016. She began having behavior issues at home... a year later I was informed that her teacher placed her and another student in a diaper and sent them to the "Baby Classroom" as a form of discipline for pinching one another. The teacher also requested that I use the same method at home son"we could be on the same page" when I contacted the manager to inform her of the incident she laughed at me and said "I must have misunderstood". I have both of my kids at CPMS - the Adolfo site. my oldest has been there for 2 years. We love the teachers, they are passionate individuals that put all their effort into the kids. They do daily activities: experiments, cooking, playing outside and more! I have to add that, during the pandemic, I actually feel safer taking my kids there, than having someone come to my home. They truly are doing an amazing job with masks and daily sanitizing schedules. read more

I enrolled my two year old daughter in August of this year and am so thrilled with her progress! The staff is engaged, communicative, and my daughter adores them. Miss Esme & Miss Rochelle are so incredible with her and she gets excited when I even mention them at home. She has blossomed in vocabulary and even gotten better at taking directions. Watching her do the Itsy Bitsy Spider and seeing her so proud of the art she makes at school (even though we do TONS of art at home) is so heart warming. All I have to do is say "School" and she gets excited and asks to go. We had a blast at the Fall field trip and look forward to spending the next few years at CPMS! read more

I have been a customer of the Montessori School in Camarillo for four years. My daughter started when she was two years old and finished through their Kindergarten program. My son is now attending in the two year old class. The best aspect of the school is the staff. They have always been great to my kids. They go beyond and above. My son has been diagnosed with a speech delay. Since attending the school, his speech has progressed significantly. The staff goes the extra mile to ensure he is progressing. My daughter was potty trained at two years and five months. I owe much of this success to the staff. The Kindergarten program was amazing for my daughter. She left the program reading, doing basic math, and was prepped for Kindergarten in the public school system. I highly recommend this school to parents. I LOVE Camarillo Progressive Montessori. I am a Montessori graduate myself (East Ventura branch) and I couldn't be happier now having my son attend the Camarillo School. He started the month he turned 2 (not potty trained yet) at two days a week and now, at 2 1/2, he is almost completely potty trained and begging me to go three days a week. The staff is awesome and very caring. They answer all of my questions in a timely manner and give great advice (when it comes to potty training for instance). I also really like the extra opportunities they offer such as the Underwood Farms pumpkin patch day, verious holiday potlucks, Halloween parade, and the after school gymnastics. I'm very happy with CPMS and am excited for my child to be there for his remaining preschool years. read more

We are a proud CPMS family and have nothing but great things to say for this school. It has been a parents dream come true to find a school that truly cares, shows warmth and love, is attentive and kind and has sooo many fabulous activities and learning lessons for young children. My daughter is 4 so she can tell us what's up and she has raved about her new school since our initial tour. Every day she says how much fun she had and how her teachers are so nice and let her make cool art, play with fun toys outside, games, books, dress-up and more. She is one happy girl at her school, which makes for very happy parents. I would just like to give a shout out to Miss Kris, the beautiful owner, who I admire so much. I see her passion and care for the kids and families. I am impressed by her and her capabilities and every single member of her staff. You truly cannot put a price on GOOD quality childcare and teachings for your children...I have so much respect for the people who guide, teach and love on our children daily. I recommend this fine school to the fullest. They have an amazing calendar year ahead filled with great things. Absolutely love the friendly atmosphere! My husband and I both are thrilled and thankful that we were led to CPMS. I also would like to mention; we didn't go tour this preschool because of "Montessori" in the title. We both don't have Montessori background and we would chose this school time and again with or without Montessori in the title. Montessori has been so cool to understand and learn more about and is SUCH a neat philosophy for children BUT that isn't why we're here. We're here because we felt the warmth, safety, love, kindness and good quality school with good quality teachers for our daughters growth. My kids started at CMPS at the beginning of the school year. We did a lot of research for pre-schools and ended up choosing this school. Everyone from the school has made us feel very comfortable right at the beginning. Since this is my kids' first preschool experience, we were a little nervous with the kids fitting in and getting use to school in general. All the staffs (especially their teachers) have definitely made the process much easier. My kids really enjoy going to school and don't want to miss a day of school. My son has been attending this school since 2014. There are two main reasons why I like this school. The number one reason being my peace of mind that my son is safe here and number two is he is learning so much. He has a speech delay and has progressed significantly. His speech therapist has repeatedly told us that he is very ready to move on to Kindergarten. Besides learning the basics, he is being taught respect and caring of others.
