I had a very disappointing experience today, September 3, at the San Jose Almaden Branch Library…read more As a resident of the Almaden area for more than 15 years, I have used this library frequently for working and studying and have always appreciated having it as a community resource. Today was my first time reserving one of the group meeting rooms because I had an important Zoom meeting scheduled from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. With the assistance of a library staff member, I successfully reserved the room and received an email confirmation. About five minutes after my Zoom meeting had started, the branch manager interrupted my meeting and told me that I needed to leave because the room belonged to someone else. Since I saw that a group of children was waiting to use the room, I cooperated and left without arguing. After my meeting, however, I showed the manager my confirmation email, which clearly demonstrated that I had reserved the room correctly. I was then told that there had been a system error and that the room had been double-booked. What I found most upsetting was not the system error itself, but the way the situation was handled. Before asking me to leave in the middle of my meeting, the manager did not check my confirmation email or first verify whether I had made a valid reservation. Instead, I felt that it was immediately assumed that I was the one who had made a mistake. As an Asian woman, I also could not help but wonder whether I was being treated differently, particularly because the other party involved was white. I cannot know the manager's intention, but the interaction left me feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and disrespected. I understand that technical errors and double bookings can happen. However, I believe the appropriate response would have been to first verify both reservations, explain the situation respectfully, and work with both parties to find a solution rather than abruptly asking one person to leave an ongoing meeting. After being a longtime resident and regular user of this library, I was extremely disappointed by today's experience. I hope the library will review both its room reservation system and how staff handle situations like this so that all patrons are treated with courtesy, fairness, and respect.

Our daughter is in her second year at Sinai Nursery School and is thriving in every way. The teachers and staff at Sinai are extremely kind, attentive, communicative, and knowledgeable about children and their development. We receive regular updates on the learning experiences they are designing for students. Though we are not Jewish, we have found that our child really enjoys learning about their cultural traditions and rituals - often teaching us new things at home. We are delighted to be part of this school community, and most importantly our daughter is happy, safe, and growing. We highly recommend this program!

When I went outside there was impressive amount of Food Vendors ( the way it should be) so it was interesting ( the Japan Cherry Blossom in May??? I forgot). The thing is we were late ( this time) for July 4th. Celebration. There was some kind of Pancake Breakfast (Optomst Club?) but way too expensive...offer Pancake, Sausage, fruit cup, Coffee,Hot Choco for $ 15 dollars? $ 3 OJ. Since Mom is Diabetic & Dad has cancer, Dad & I decide that $ 15 is too expensive for just Pancake/Sausage. I was still curious if other people showed up, as in Cupertino $ 15 is cheap. So I was curious what other people had to say about the Breakfast July 4th. I also saw huge line for kids event. Dad is a huge food fanatic but he gets sick of overpriced Chinese ( his favorite). I keep telling Dad to see Mexican Food Trucks as they are cheaper than Most overpriced restaurants. Even Pho ( one of my favorite foods) is expensive in restaurants these days (I love Vietnamese food as it is one of my favorite, next to Mexican is my favorite but I lived in California back in 1990 when Mexican food used to be cheap...Now the prices have sky Rocket...the only cheap Taco restaurant is Los Dos Compadres near Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd & Prospect Rd ( DeAnza Blvd & Prospect Rd). Most of their Tacos are only 3.5 or maybe close to 3.75 by now and they give more meat than most Taco Trucks. Only one time their Carne Asada was less taste but majority of time, they have really good Taco and good Carne Asada. Only problem is they close at 3pm. It's been a while since I've been to a library, but I've started getting back into it to make more…read moreuse of it. I didn't stay here for long because I was primarily here to pick up a hole that I had ordered and it was very easy to find parking since the parking lot is huge, but I forget that this library also has a gym along with a community center room. The library was peaceful and quiet, and it was actually a fair amount of tables to sit and get work done/read.
