As soon as the cleaner was in the door, the little extra charges started adding up. Silly me, when I purchased Carpet Cleaning, I assumed that meant they would clean my carpets. Apparently, vaccuming is not included and would cost me an additional $35. WTF? You would think they would at least mention that when you make the appointment. Nope. My carpet area is not nearly 1,500 square feet, but I would have to be charged an additional $5 per stair to do the stairs (which racked up to an additional $60). And, because there are a few stains in my carpet (which is why I purchased the damned thing in the first place), it would cost an extra $60 for those to actually be removed from the carpet. So, the $59 I spent on the LivingSocial deal (supposedly a $286 value) includes what exactly? Getting my carpet wet? Everything else was extra. Ridiculous! I understand that companies don't make much money off a LivingSocial type deal. But, it is an opportunity for them to advertise and drum up new business. I purchased the LivingSocial deal to determine if Hector's was a company I wanted to use for my future carpet cleanings. Obviously, I will never be calling Hector's again.

Even the first time, which was just a routine cleaning, was disappointing. The carpet was drenched in water, to the point that it took three days in the middle of summer to dry completely. When I search for vendors locally, I usually rank by rating on Yelp. This place consistently came up, which is why I kept using them. MY EMAIL TO THE CLEANER: Hi Zuriah, I just returned home and was able to inspect the basement. When I first received the cleaning receipt and saw that I was charged for 4 hours of work, I was extremely surprised and skeptical but wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. I typically do the cleaning myself, and it only takes me 45 minutes from start to finish. Given that I am very familiar with the space, I expect it to take strangers longer. However, I have previously hired another cleaner from Task Rabbit, and it took her one hour and fifteen minutes. When considering the 4-hours I was charged, my first thought was that you had misunderstood the task and actually cleaned my entire house, as that is typically the time it takes my regular cleaner to do the main floor, which includes 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a full kitchen and living room. After receiving your before/after pictures and confirming that you had, in fact, only cleaned the basement, I then thought that maybe you did a deep clean, which could potentially explain the long time frame. However, after coming home and inspecting the basement, that is clearly not the case. Spaces I would expect to be cleaned in a deep clean, such as the oven, the windows, and the refrigerator, were clearly untouched. In addition, surfaces that should've been cleaned in the most basic job were still dirty, such as the tables next to the beds. All of this is to say that I will be disputing the charge with Task Rabbit and filing a formal complaint with your cleaning company. I do expect to receive a refund for the services for which I was charged that were clearly not performed.
