I want to preface this with CB's policies which could be a deciding factor for a wary shopper. There is a NO RETURNS policy on anything electronics (i.e. camera bodies, glass, etc.). Once you slide that card or fork over cash, it's final. However they do accept returns on non-electronic items. And I can understand why they do this, to protect their inventory and the would be buyer. BUT that can be a huge deciding factor when you have other, more return friendly retailers. There is a small sign on the wall above the register (in my opinion, this should be right in front of the register when you pay) and verbiage right on the receipt. They will not warn you this verbally which I think they should too. Let's be honest, sometimes we purchase things that don't fit the bill and we realize this until we get it in our hands. The other thing is that their prices reflect what their overhead is, i.e. location, staff, etc. vs volume. So you'll probably find better prices elsewhere. But, if you want to support a local business that has staff to help answer questions you may have and prefer a hands on approach. And you don't mind a bit pricier product for the additional support and immediate availability. And lastly, you can look past a strict no return policy, then the CB is the place for you. Over the years I have purchased several cameras and lenses from them. The prices are in-line with other vendors. I can't comment on advice because I know what I want, call ahead to ask whether it's in stock, and when I come by half an hour later it's already waiting for me behind the counter. I called them to see if they had a particular lens in stock. The person over the phone was friendly and helpful. Went into the store to pick it up the next day and everyone there was friendly and very personable. Only downside (and not at the fault of the store) was that it was hard to find parking so I paid $5 to park in a lot for a five minute trip into the store. read more

I recently visited the Camera Bar on a Saturday afternoon in search of a new camera. I was not disappointed. Rick and Aaron are extremely knowledgable and patient. I had a LOT of question and they took their time to make sure i got the perfect camera for my needs. I had done a significant amount of research online and in a few moments they guided me to the perfect body and lens i was looking for- Sony A7c with a Tamron 28-75 f2.8. Also, they did not try to oversell me on anything. In fact, they made sure i didn't buy expensive and unnecessary accessories for what i was looking to do. Their prices were competitive with anything you can find online; however, their service is what sets them apart. They also gave me a short tutorial to make sure i had the basic functions and operations under my belt before leaving the store so i could start shooting right away. I just moved to the area. I went to the Camera Bar a few days ago because 2 of my filters were screwed to each other and would not come apart. The guys made quite an effort to get them apart even though I did not purchase them from their establishment. Fortunately, ​they did have the exact items I needed at a great price. This place is just greedy for money and will tell you anything to get you to buy something they have. They have told me my batteries were dead to sell me new ones when my batteries were just fine. They are rude when you don't want to buy anything. They have never helped me and don't give any genuine advice or feedback on the product(s) you bring in. They don't want to just help out they want money from you. read more

Unfortunately I decided to reach out to this place with hopes of going in for equipment or classes if that is something they offer. But before I was even able to get that far I was told that if I did not purchase my camera there they couldn't help me?! Being that I am new to photography I am sure I will need equipment in addition to my existing camera but I would not chose to spend my money here. Aaron is great, but his father is not so much. Returns don't seem to be welcome. I am a little "rough around the edges' because of my profession. I don't appreciate being followed around like I'm suspected of stealing something. Above all, being hurried out of the store does NOT make one feel like their presence is valued. I came into Camera Bar on a Wednesday with some old negatives (from 1948) seeing what they could do for me. The salesman was very helpful and said they could be scanned onto a CD and prints could be created by the next Monday - I thought that was a good turn around time. I picked up the photos today and the quality of prints is terrific. I thought the price was a bit high for the scanning, although I would trust the Camera Bar again - especially with older items having sentimental value. The negatives & the envelope they were in (which were over 60 years old) were returned to me in the exact condition in which I dropped them off. These guys are awesome!! Just came in with a lens error on my Nikon...could've been up to a $200 repair if I sent it out but they were able to fix it FOR FREE in less than 5 minutes. They also showed me other comparable cameras to mine in case I wanted to purchase a new one but were not pushy at all! Super quick visit and they were so nice and helpful! Getting there is easy as well...there's a cheap parking garage just down the street or a little bit more $$$ parking lot directly across from them. read more

There are some items that the vast majority need trustworthy professional guidance with in order to purchase. Camera's and related accessories are certainly something that I am uneasy purchasing at a big box store. I found the Camera Bar two days before Christmas. The place was hopping when I got there, the staff (turns out it was the owner) cheerfully greeted me and I waited only a few minutes. I explained what I was looking for and that I was on the fence about upgrading my wife's Cannon Rebel. A recommendation to get a wide angle lens and to not bother upgrading the camera if it was still working was made. Nice to do business with people who solve your problem for the lowest possible cost. Trustworthy, informative expertise not available at a chain. My wife's hobby is her camera, the Camera Bar has a new loyal customer in us. read more
