This is my second review of this office. The first review was over five years ago. I have been…read moregoing to Carolina Lakes Family Dental for several years now. Hands-down, they have the best staff. Very friendly and accommodating. Office is clean and inviting. I've seen multiple dentists here and they're all top-notch. When people are looking for a new dentist, I tell them about Carolina Lakes Family Dental. Thank you, Carolina Lakes Family Dental for great care.

I did not have a good experience. I'm 37 weeks pregnant which I disclosed upon making my…read moreappointment. When I got to my appointment I was told that unless I was willing to "double wrap" my belly and have X-rays taken I would have to reschedule for after I gave birth. I offered to have my recent X-rays sent over from my previous dentist and was told that would not work, it is their policy to only do exams if they do their own X-rays. When I asked why I was told "it's just our policy" I was not given any logical reason for this policy but was instead asked why I could not schedule for after the birth "don't you have someone who can watch the baby?" This is an inappropriate question for many reasons. I continued to press for an answer as to why they couldn't clean my teeth today since I have very recent x rays available and at that point the hygienist got rude and suggested I just go back to my previous dentist. The policy is obviously so they can bill insurance for the X-rays. Money is their top priority; the way I was treated shows that they care very little about their customers

Had my new patient appointment/cleaning yesterday. They took great care of me. They were…read moreprofessional. Explained everything to me. I'm 100% happy with them! They were definitely worth the drive from Ft Bragg! Also to add, they got me in pretty quick as some places I've lived you had to wait up for 6 months for a new patient appointment.

Me and my daughter have been attending this dental office since 2020. I called in on 1/11/22 to…read moreschedule a tooth extraction, which the receptionist advised me that she would be able to get me in for an appt on 1/12/22 @ 1p.m. So, I showed up to my appt on time, they took my temperature and immediately took me to their back room. The dental assistant was very nice and talkative which helped pass time while I waited on Dr. Taylor. The dental assistant took x-rays in the mean time. At about 1:30 Dr.Taylor came in to talk to me which was fine. Dr. Taylor left out again and at about 1:40ish she came back in to administer the numbing medication, in the mist of her numbing my tooth another dental assistant (male) stood in the doorway of the room I was in to tell Dr. Taylor he needed her in the room next door to me. (Note. The people next door had literally just gotten there, and I've been there for 45 mins now), after she numbed my tooth she left out. I assumed she went into the next room which she did. Now from my understanding numbing medication takes about 15 mins to fully take affect. With that being said Dr. Taylor didn't return to my room until 2:45. At this point I was very irritated. (Note. I'm 9 months pregnant & need to eat every 2 hrs.. so at this point I'm pretty much starving). In the mist of my hr wait 2 dental assistants kept asking if I was numb and I stated Every-time "yes, I've been numb almost immediately after it was administered" they also kept advising that Dr. Taylor would be in shortly. But the shortly never came. At 1:45 when Dr. Taylor did come in she asked me "is there a problem", I stated yes and explained to her how I felt. She then stated that she was doing me a favor by extracting my tooth and that She had other patients to attend too. She then laughed to her dental assistant and stated that I was very rude. Which I then told Dr. Taylor I felt She was very rude and unprofessional. I understand that these offices have to maneuver between patients, but to leave out of my Room to attend to another patient who literally just arrived in the middle of her numbing me is just insane. Dr. Taylor took so long to Come back that she had to administer more numbing medication because I could feel everything she was doing ( I'm assuming the bit of numbing she did give me was wearing off within that hr time frame). I felt as if Dr. Taylor picks and chooses which patients to treat in a timely matter.. and I feel like this is due to Insurance type and race. Dr. Taylor then stated "well You can leave" & after waiting 2 hrs to get a tooth pulled who's leaving at that point...?!?!? Not I. Please perform the extraction that I've been waiting on for 2 hrs. So to sum this up, Fr. Taylor Came in at 2:45 and to pull my Tooth and I was getting Up out my of the chair at 3p.m. I'm saying this to say it took her 2 hrs to do a 15 Min procedure which is RIDICULOUS. She laughed at my feelings which was disrespectful. All in all, I most definitely will not be going back for further checkups. Ps. Dr. Taylor staff were GREAT. It was literally Just the dentist with problems.

Very disappointing experience. My son has a cavity that this office identified months ago, and the…read morefollow-up was never properly scheduled by them. I had to call myself and book the appointment weeks in advance to get him seen. We then drove 45 minutes and arrived early for the appointment, only to be told he would not be seen because I did not respond to a text confirmation. What made the situation worse was that management wanted to argue with me about whether or not I received the text message instead of focusing on the real issue: a child was there, on time, needing treatment for a cavity, and the office refused to see him. Families take time off, rearrange schedules, and travel for appointments. Customer service and patient care should come before debating text messages at the front desk. Poor communication, poor management, and a frustrating experience overall. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

I've been thinking I should tell people to remember to inform the "dental hygienist" ( not sure…read morethey fit that title) if you're allergic to anything. My first visit I very firmly informed them of my allergies. Epinephrine was one of the allergies I provided. Second visit for a filling..I'm placed in a room to girls in the room chatting and then say ok I'm going to numb you. As she was coming towards me so with a needle I said ok before you give me that needle does it have epinephrine in it. Because i was pretty sure that my allergies were not considered. And that didn't give that.
