We got some to-go from here last Friday---it is Lent, after all---and overall we enjoyed the food. I had the fried catfish, which to this Southern Louisiana gal was surprisingly good. Not the best, not even close, but it tasted fresh, didn't have too much breading, and was definitely something I would order again. My husband got the platter, which included a variety of things. The fish in the platter (I'm not sure what it was) did not taste as good as the catfish. The crab cake was very blah and tasteless. The scallops we're too gooey for my liking (although my husband said he didn't mind). The fried shrimp looked ridiculous (like pancakes with tails, I've never seen a fried shrimp like that before). But, the spiced shrimp was very good. It reminded me of a good New Orleans shrimp boil. Very tasty. We called and ordered ahead, which ended up being a very good idea, considering the line of people waiting for their food was rather long and we just walked up, paid, and left. I was so happy to get crabs on memorial day weekend! Once I got home with my half bushel #1 crabs my excitement soon diminished. The crabs were light and no where near the size of number 1's this Marylander girl was used to! Very sad all the crabs were small and very light. I will never get crabs from them again. Best seafood place around. Fifteen to twenty bucks will get you a platter so big you will have leftovers, and the seafood is jumbo and fresh, not small little shrimp and scallops like you get at a chain place like Joes or Red Lobster... I highly recommend either the ultimate or supreme broiled or fried platter about 15 to 20 depending on if you want a regular or jumbo lump crabcake... The soft shell crab platter is also a favorite when in season, about 11 bucks for two big meaty soft shells, two sides and a roll... Overall great carryout seafood place... This place seems to be the place to be on the weekend. We went in to see what it was all about and they have some great food. You can have the seafood cooked to order. This is definitely different and not to bad. The lobster bisque is really good. We tried the seafood sampler and it was great. They give you a lot of food. Bought a broiled sampler platter which included scallops, shrimp, crab cake and tilapia (tilapia which I wasn't expecting and don't care for)To my disappointment the flavor of the meal was very bland. The crab cake that Came with the meal was loaded with fillers. I though there was bread in it at one point. The steamed vegetables were tasteless and I couldn't even stomach the food to finish it. Yes...I almost threw up and needed to stop eating it. A few months back I ate here and had a totally opposite experience and enjoyed the food back then. Unfortunately this establishment is racist and ignorant. I just witness a young lady getting screamed at by the manager regarding payment. The young lady had proof of payment and even pulled up her online banking. Yet the owner which clearly was looking to argue, screamed LIAR!!!! His employees even tried to calm him down. The young lady was just standing there in shock. I will not come back to this establishment. After coming home to try to enjoy my food, I was even more disappointed by the tasteless food. this is the last time i will ever buy crabs from Cameron's...Frederick, MD about a month ago i bought 1/2 bushel ($115) which is supposed to be about 3 dozen and at least 30% (12) were inedible ...75% of these were rotten and smelled like ammonia, and the other 25% the meat was too mealy...That is almost $40 we had to throw away. And when I emailed the firm they couldn't even bother replying. Last Sunday we bought another 1/2 bushel ($125) and most were very mealy. Never again read more

Definitely a top seafood spot in Frederick. My family and I have ordered from them on numerous occasions and have never been dissatisfied. Fried shrimp platter is my personal favorite. I honestly don't have anything but good things to say about this place. I am use to going to the Cameron's in Rockville. Tonight was my first time at this Frederick location and all I can say is wow. It's so different... but in a good way. It displays the menu so clearly on flat screen TVs. The owner (this one is franchised) was sooo nice. He let us order even though they closed at 9 and we got there at 9:05 (google is wrong). Our order looked amazing and he even gave us a couple of extra shrimp since he was closing. Very friendly and clean. But the food wasn't great! One exception was the jumbo lump crab cake for $13 or $14. Could have used a little bit of seasoning but it was good & all crab. Ordered snow crab legs and corn as well. They cooked them for us. The crab legs ($$$) were VERY salty & nearly inedible because of that. The corn cobs were not good and discolored on the ends. We had the impression they were reusing the same water over and over to cook the crab legs and corn. We could have gone to a high end restaurant for less money. I was craving some solid seafood and remembered Cameron's off of 85 was right down the street. Parking is easy up front and the signage is easy to spot. Upon walking in the cashier was nice, he took my order of catfish platter with rice, veggies, and 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp. The cost with a drink was kinda high (well over 30 for one person). I waited about 10 minutes and the food was ready and I took it to go. When I got home I put the food on the plate and prepared for a feast. The catfish was well fried, taste was good (not great). Had to add some tartar sauce to the fish for a bit more taste.The rice and veggies were fine along with the bread that came with it. On a good note... the portions are very big and can be shared.Overall the platter was 3 out of 5. I added the 1/2 pound of shrimp. Almost all of the shrimp were good, sadly one shrimp was downright bad and had to spit it out. Kinda ruining that part of the meal. I did get cocktail sauce from Cameron's but it was frozen and tasted off. He shrimp would have been much better if the sauce and single shrimp were much better. 3 out of 5. Cameron's is a solid 3 out of 5. I wouldn't recommend as my choice but if someone wanted some quick seafood I'd let them know this was around read more

I had the soft shell crab sandwich and my gf got the jumbo lump crab cake sandwich. The soft shell was definitely on the small side and slightly overcooked/fried. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't very good either. Tbh I wouldn't order it again I did enjoy the restaurant experience which is why I still have it a 3rd star. The seafood was laid out fresh in a refrigerated display. I felt like it helped get an ideas what I was ordering. My gfs jumbo lump sandwich was pretty good probably one of the best I've had. It's worth it if you're in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip. Hopefully this helps someone. read more

I am normally pleased with my food from here (I would say 90% of the time the food is fresh). The fried fish, cold shrimp salad, and spiced shrimp are some of my favorites. While the food isn't the best I've had (I lived in Texas where cajun and seafood were popular and always fresh), the dishes I've tried are still pretty good, especially compared to what I'm used to. The sides leave a bit to be desired but still make good complements to the platters. The guy I see there most often is a nice Filipino fellow (maybe he's the owner?) who is willing to let you taste test some of the dishes before buying and is really helpful with suggestions. He's the one who introduced me to the spiced shrimp and cold shrimp salad, the two dishes I get most often for lunch now. Usually when the spiced shrimp is running out or isn't fresh, he'll let me know he's making me a fresh batch, which I don't mind waiting 5 or so minutes for. I would say this is probably the fastest place to get seafood for lunch if you're craving it and the prices seem reasonable. I haven't gotten any crabs, which seems to be one of the most common things purchased by those giving low reviews, but I can definitely recommend the spiced shrimp, for sure. :) read more

I have gone into the store on four occasions. My first visit I listened to a woman berate the owner for his rude treatment. My next three visits I found out first hand what her complaint was. The owner waited on the men as they came into the store totally ignoring me until I rather loudly reminded him that I was there first. He grudgingly waited on me. My last visit he started to wait on me until the phone rang. He stopped mid sentence and answered the phone and took their long order. I turned around and left. He will never get my business he is a sexist pig and I call on all Frederick County women to boycott his business. read more

We came this past Saturday night right before closing time and got a pound of shrimp and a dozen of male crabs. The shrimp were large hot and very tasty. The crabs on the other hand were horrible. All but three were mushy inside and I'm sure they were dead before they were cooked. We may go back again for the shrimp and possibly to try some of the fried food platters. I was on my way back home from a short vacation to Ocean City MD and felt like I wanted some fresh steamed crabs to bring home to round out my vacation/trip. I stopped by Cameron's in Frederick and placed my order for a dozen #1 males. Almost half of crabs had a mushy consistency in the meat, meaning, they were cooked when they were already dead. It's not a good idea to eat crabs that have died before they were cooked. Very disappointed. The problem is, I don't know where else to go for decent fresh steamed crabs in the area. I have no malicious intent....I feel quality control is important, especially with seafood. read more

I went there at 8:40 on a weekday evening to buy some fresh fish for dinner the next day. They were open and a 3 or 4 people were waiting for platters. The uncooked fresh seafood area contained covered plastic containers in ice, like they wanted to close up at 9 on the dot. (not sure of their hours...just assuming it was 9). I asked about softshell crabs and they said they had frozen ones for $5.99, but he didn't offer to show any to me when I asked about the size...just mumbled something about them being okay size. I then asked if the fresh seafood area was closed and he said yes. Okay...store is open, there is obviously something in those plastic containers (they were opaque so it was impossible to tell what was in the containers), but, instead of being glad to have a customer, he just acted annoyed that I was there and wasn't willing to show me anything (and another guy in the background wasn't doing anything). I just walked out and doubt I'll bother with the place in the future, although I may try again early in the day if I am in the area (but definately won't make a special trip there). read more

Having lived closer to the shore in southern Maryland, I was happy when i moved to Frederick, to find a familiar restaurant name in fresh seafood, Cameron's Seafood on Buckeystown Road. And while the seafood itself (I buy uncooked steak-cut salmon) did not disappoint, the service was dismal. First, I have thought long and hard about what I am about to say but say it I must: the Hispanic staff is rude, prejudiced and arrogant. When I entered the store on my first visit the representative who looks like an escapee from detention somewhere, said "Wha yu wan?" in heavily accented English. There was no greeting of any kind. If it was meant to be insulting, he succeeded. I said, "Excuse me? What is your name?" He repeated what I said to him, twice with a smirk. I said "I'm familiar with this enterprise and I will make a complaint". I left without making a purchase. On my second visit, the steak-cut salmon was not on display. I asked about it and this same man said they had it, but it wasn't on display yet. I asked how long it would take and returned at the stated time. It was still not on display and his attitude was unpleasant. A woman peered from the rear and they spoke in some dialect of Spanish; she eyed me without a greeting or pleasantness. Conclusion: Many or most of the unskilled immigrants from Central and South America have had little education in their own countries. They bring gender, racial, ethnic prejudices and animosities. Unless taught, they have no knowledge of the roots beneath American workforce customs and standards, particularly regarding the diversity that is America. Yet, they are plopped right down in our midst. If Cameron's Seafood has a goal to ensure good customer service, they are failing in Frederick. read more

We have bought bushels of crab from Cameron's many times before and have been satisfied. Wondering now if they are going downhill. Got a bushel yesterday that were charged as large. Got home and found them to be mixed medium/small, and were mushy. I called immediately, the manager passed it off as standard. We won't be back. read more

I'm from California and every time I'm in town I make sure I have my Cameron fix. This place has good quality seafood and in some cases half the price compared to seafood in California. Serving size are big and taste great. The cream of crab soup is my favorite and their crab cakes. read more
