Always a pleasant experience. The hot food in the deli is a frequent go-to for my family and the staff is friendly.

Not a huge selection of food, but for a small town market it's pretty good.

(Anyone want to know how to cold smoke 24 filleted salmon in a cardboard refrigerator box? Let me know!). I needed to find some Chesapeake Channa to make updated Baltimore Coddies for a tasting event. (IYKYK, hon). The Trouts were able to special order the fish for me - not easy to do because CCs are a by-product catch so not always available. Outstanding service! If you can get them you really, really should. Chesapeake Channa are an invasive species that are wreaking havoc in the Bay. The good news: they are incredibly tasty, with a firm, flakey flesh that's suitable for pan frying, roasting, poaching (and sous viding, my technique of choice for this event). Everybody raved about how great the fish was - even after I told them that Chesapeake Channa is more commonly known as "Snakehead". (Hey, it worked for Chilean Sea Bass, which used to be known as "Patagonian Toothfish"). So, thank you to Lighthouse for helping me introduce an old Baltimore dish to a new audience, and help save the Chesapeake Bay at the same time. Score!

On our first visit on a winter Wednesday, we were impressed with everything we saw. Being a self-professed seafood snob with extensive periods of my life living ( and eating) in coastal areas, we bought some fresh fish ("blue catfish" to be specific). We help the Chesapeake Bay by eating this endangered species. We also bought some homemade compound butter - they have several seasoning blends. The verdict was that the freshness was outstanding and the trimming (no bones or other waste) was perfect. And with fish, freshness is everything. The price was fair too for the area and the service was personable and helpful. (Note that the inner lining paper of the wrapper stuck to the skin too much - they should change that but I'm not deducting a star - the fish itself was that great). On return trips, we'll check the other faire (shellfish, prepared-on-premises seafood, dine-in options). For now, we are quite happy and the Lighthouse deserves more business.

No greeting just silence and then got hung up on after a second of them picking up. I called again and they finally young lady decided to answer with a greeting. Upon arriving to grab our LG dozen... we've always been able to stack military discount and the online coupon for $5 off since our last visit. I even confirmed with the cashier during our last visit because I thought that was really nice of them. The young lady cashiering this time around had no remorse or explanation but a "NO" just military or the coupon. If you're okay with this type of customer service and can over look it plus this place being a bit $$$ definitely try their steam crabs and fish they got here. Customer Service definitely needs work. Its very awkward coming inside to an awkward staring contest with everyone behind the fish counter and cashier ( NO GREETING OR HELLO) as if your trespassing into the building or hi how can we help you today? Are you looking for anything specific???. ... Anyways ... not sure when we'll return..

Their menu had a decent selection and we were excited to try our picks. Unfortunately for the adults we were not impressed. The kiddos, on the other hand, were quite content. What we got: Kids meals: comes with a 12oz drink. - Mac & cheese - no idea on the rating. The little devoured it and was still hungry so we ordered a slice of French toast for $2.25. The fries that came with the Mac and cheese were not impressive. The chocolate milk was loved by the kiddos. - French toast - I tried some of this and wasn't impressed. But once again the kiddo loved it and finished it. The chocolate milk was also devoured. M.O.A.B. - 2.5* the toast was fine. The eggs were fine, they were over easy (asked for over medium, but not a big deal). The home fries were on the drier side. The pork chops were tough. The hot cake was fluffy but nothing special. Would've enjoyed it more with real syrup. Sausage & gravy on home fries - 2* very little sausage and gravy compared to the home fries. I thought the home fries were fun as they were little potato discs, but I didn't want nearly as much as what came with the meal. The sausage and gravy was also lacking in flavor.
