A pretty decent Tex-Mex restaurant with a menu with quite a few options to choose from. My coworker and I stopped by on our way from Charlotte to Raleigh, and we ordered the Matador Omelette and the Chicken Chimichanga with fruit drinks. They were pretty good and tasty! The restaurant is located in a big shopping plaza with a free parking lot with a lot of spaces. It's easy to find. Not bad at all!

Our first time and really happy we stopped in. Fresh food, great menu, good prices. I really want to come in for the breakfasts. Had a taco salad: Yes the old school way with a tortilla shell. Got to make it my way. Enjoyed every bite. Clean place not a lot of seating, does have outdoor patio seating. They were busy and hoppin (always good to see). Can't wait to try them again!

Friendly staff, good service, reasonable prices. If you like cheese you will love this place as you can seedl from my photos they do not skimp on the cheese sauce.

It is very nice to have Mexican food/Salvadoran food with such authentic dishes. This place was fast, well priced and delicious. We got Carne asada tacos, Carne asada Torta. For the Salvadoran dish, we got carnitas and cheese pupusas. I think this place has a little fusion going on but it doesn't take away from how good it is. This place has become one of our top three places to eat. Again staff were super great which also helps the meal be very pleasant

We were on a long road trip a couple days after Thanksgiving, and traffic was horrendous with accidents every 30 miles. Dinnertime approached and I was irritated and hangry. We took an exit in Thomasville as yet another car accident was backing up traffic according to Google Maps. We like to eat local and as fate would have it we pulled into a random parking lot, and there stood El Camino Express. It's a small hole in the wall type of eatery with ample parking outside. You walk into a bright white decor with black lettering, food counter to your right and a long dining room ahead. All the decor highlighted that this restaurant supported the community and provided a local farm to table type of eats. We knew at this point we hit GOLD! They had several folks coming in and out for takeout food, but we were the only ones dining in. Looks like most interstate travelers are bypassing this gem! Anyway, we ordered ACP, Taco kids meal, and Chicken Tinga Birria Tacos. Everything was phenomenal! The Chicken Tinga Birria Tacos were not on the menu, but I asked if they could use Chicken instead of beef and they happily obliged. They were packed with a savory light spice flavor, and the dipping sauce made the dish even more epic. I've been raving about this place to my friends ever since that day. El Camino Express was the highlight of my 10 hour road trip and a welcomed bright spot that addressed my hanger issues lol. If you are driving through Thomasville, make it a point to visit this landmark without fail!

Fresh as it could be. This is not fast food. It is fresh made to order with love and care. The sopes were wonderful. But the stand out for me was the Burrito Texanas. It was full of meats and peppers and onions and had cheese sauce and more than enough for a big eater. I even went back to it later and ate it cold, still delicious. Sergio puts heart and soul into his food. I'm a huge fan and since i frequent Thomasville often, i will be a constant patron. I promise to take more photos in the visits to come.(I was really hungry) Bonus: You can get fabulous coffee, lattes and such at The Blend in the same space. Did i mention the decor is very pmeasing and seems like a great place to hangout and visit after a delicious meal.

Great breakfast food and great service. I have an egg and dairy allergy. They have a build your own burial option and worked with my difficult order!

It's been a few months since my last review and it's only gotten better. Best Tex-Mex in NC.

Your taste buds will be in heaven. Never ever again going to a chain like Chipotle. Camino is the way to go. Not only was the burrito amazing but service was awesome. Gave us a sample of every salsa to try. Everything was fresh and great!

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

Service was really bad. Our server was absolutely terrible. Got most of our order wrong despite showing her the items on the menu. She didn't check the table at all and we had to send other employees to get her and even then she performed what was a very simple job extremely poorly despite having only one other table. Ambiance was terrible. Music was so loud. We had to actually yell at each other as did the other patrons and we asked multiple times to turn it down without success. Will never return to this awful restaurant.

Grapefruit was too tart - worst one. Strawberry was okay. I also tried a cocktail bluebonnet, which was tasty. Refreshing and light in taste. My fiancé had the downeast raspberry cider, which was really good. As far as food, I had the salmon tacos without avocado crema, sour cream, and guacamole. What was left was a juicy piece of smoked salmon. Parts were crunchy and my fear was that there were bones, but once I figured out it was just texture, the food was enjoyable. My fiancé ordered the lil sampler with brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and sausage. Chicken was dry, brisket was good, pork was flavorful and his favorite, and sausage was a little dry. Overall, I'd get my meal again but he would not because he knows what he wants. Nevertheless, sampler was great for our first time, so he could try a little of everything. He also ordered the brisket empanadas. They were crunchy, flavorful, and good amount of cheese to meat ratio. Would get again. There would be moments of a lot of people, but the service was still good. We would finish something, and someone would be right over to take it away. They also had cotton candy, even though we didn't get any, it created a nice, fun feel to the place. We watched soccer and had a great time. Even the music was setting the great tone. We will come back if we have time while we're in town.

True to its namesake, there are brightly colored folk art designs throughout the restaurant in line with their Mexican heritage. The trees that make it look overgrown from the outside actually serve to allow sunlight while masking the surrounding city, facilitating the transformation that makes you feel like you're in Mexico City. We came at an off-peak time in the afternoon and it was nearly empty. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt and attentive. I was pleased to see some unique menu offerings like Birra Ramen and Sopes that deviate from the standard American-friendly fare in most places. Drinks were good - we had a regular house margarita, a triple berry margarita, and a jalapeño cucumber margarita. All were tasty and I would order again. I tried to order a Mezcalita, since it's not often I see a Mezcal option, but they were out of that particular liquor. We tried to get street corn as an appetizer, which they were also out of. We got cheese and salsa with chips instead. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa generous with the cilantro, and the cheese bold and warm. For entrees we had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and the Birra Ramen. The quesadilla was good, though the beans on the side were pretty bland. The ramen was a unique and very tasty option, and I was not able to finish such a generous portion. I think I'd leave the cheese out next time since it made some weird textures, but the flavor was great overall. Overall, there are some small things to improve (having menu items in stock, bland beans) and the prices were a bit high, but we had a great experience overall. I'm not often in the area, but I'll certainly eat here again if I am!
