1st time here. My wife and I had a small pitcher of spicy margaritas to start with some chips, salsa and an order of queso. We split a single order of Texans fajitas (steak, chicken, and shrimp) and it was plenty and came out sizzling hot. In today's restaurant world I have to say that this place is an oasis. This place has the best Mexican food I've had in NC. Everytime I've been has been great. I went with my pastor this past week and both of our meals were SO delicious. I got the ACP on beans instead of rice, with steak and the steak was melt in your mouth tender. She got the fish lunch special and it was so moist. The food and drinks are pretty good, Yelp 4 stars on the food for me. This includes the cheese dip, entree and the pitcher of margaritas. This is not a place where you get the menu with Speedy Gonzales or numbered options. The entrees are more upscale from the run of the mill Mexican restaurants. Prices are fair. I personally don't like the cheese they use on anything I've tried (enchilada and quesadilla), so I stay away from anything with cheese. That being said, the fajitas are great! Delicious! We ordered the Enchiladas (with five different fillings), the Nachos Especiales, and the Grilled Chicken Fajitas. All three were great and extremely filling. It was really a lot of food. I didn't care for the salsa - it was too watery - so I didn't have any extra chips. They would've been good with the refried beans. Also, I'm not big into corn tortillas, so I would've preferred them to offer the enchiladas with corn or flour. Service was quick and easy. I called in my order and it was ready in 15 minutes. This restaurant used to be a staple in Lexington. I just moved back to the area and ordered Togo over the phone for my family. The girl on the phone was very rude. We ordered 3 meals and queso and quacamole- our bill was 72$. I went in to pay and both girls running the cash register were not only unpleasant but they barely spoke. One of them brought our food out then took the bag with our chips and salsa back to the kitchen. She came back with the bag and handed them both to me without saying a word. She turned and walked away. THEY WERENT BUSY! 5 or 6 tables inside. We get home with our food and discover that the cheese enchilada had not been cooked or heated at all. Only rolled up and put in the container with cold beans. Our shrimp fajitas were warm but barely cooked. We estimated maybe 4 oz of meat, two whole onions and maybe 1/8 of a bell pepper. The beans had been so watered down it tasted like nothing. Shells were pretty good. While passing through NC on our way home to Atlanta, we met a friend at Don Juan's on a Monday night around 6 pm. The place was packed! My party of 3 had a 30 mins wait which was good considering there were people waiting both inside and outside. According to the locals, I was told it's the best Mexican restuarant in town. Although I was pressed for time, I'm a sucker for good food so I opted to wait. We were seated in a booth near the bar. There isn't much space between tables but the resturant still had a cozy feel. The bar was a decent size and I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the overcrowded dining area and bathroom. All of the staff was friendly. Our waiter was fast while being amicable as well. I ordered the Seafood fajitas, which came out sizzling. The seafood included shrimp and fish. Thankfully, the fish was not tilapia which I usually see on the menu at a lot of Mexican resturants, I think it was flounder. The shrimp were a good size and the fish was cooked perfectly. My friend had the Mexican pizza and didn't have anything good to say about it. My niece loved her chicken chimichanga. Don Juan's is a great spot to take the family, a date, or just meeting up with friends for food and drinks. Fresh food, the prices are reasonable and the portions are large. This is one of the few restaurants in Lexington that I can order a vegan meal and be offered more than white shredded lettuce and balsamic vinegar! (You'll only get that if you're actually vegan!) I can order just about anything I want on the menu and make it vegan - enchiladas, burritos, tacos, nacho salad, taco salad, you name it. It is clean, they effortless move through SO many people, either call in orders, or in person. It has a great atmosphere, authentic and contemporary. But be warned, they are so popular, if you don't get there in between busy times, you may not find a parking space! It is in a plaza, so my only recommendation to the company would be to find yourself some property and build us a new Don Juan's even bigger with more parking so we can bring our friends! read more

I ordered the Mexican pizza and it was very bland and thrown together. Nothing really had any flavor at all. Cant says its any different than a billion other places just like it but its packed every night & they have a few locals that eat here almost every night. I know a lot of locals rave about this spot but because I'm honest, I don't see what the hype is about. Food was bland land all the way. I ordered the enchiladas, which is one of the most simple foods in the Hispanic world of cuisine to make... like you couldn't screw it up, but somehow... they managed to. So darn bland...
