We arrived at Bryerly Farms and it was nothing like we expected (not a farm in the traditional sense) BUT it more than made up for it in hospitality and the majestic horses we got to meet - most of which were wild rescue horses. Anne was so warm, very patient with my daughter and her one thousand questions about farm life and she introduced us to all the beautiful horses and ponies by name! On our way home, my daughter kept saying their names and how she wants to take riding lessons with one of the ponies. How often do you get to get up close and personal with giant tortoises like that?! The owners were so knowledgeable and kind to open up their home and space to all of us. You can tell how much they care about their animals and sharing what they know with kids. Such a fun and unique experience, and we can't wait to come back again with my youngest for his field trip!

While the children still managed to have fun, the overall environment felt stressful and uncomfortable for many of us. We understand that managing large groups of young kids can be challenging, but the way the situation was handled made what should have been a positive field trip feel uneasy and disappointing.

Lol We ended up getting a dozen as he purchased the $20 per person for both of us. So much sunflowers! Hahaha I love it. We trimmed the stems in their tables area, and returned the cutter to the front. I saw that the person offer twine so I asked for some twine to help tie our bouquet of sunflowers. I definitely enjoyed being here, and I've been here twice so far. First time my bestie took me here to celebrate my birthday two years ago. Then the second time I came here with my boyfriend! :) They don't have a parking lot, but you can park on the street for two hours according to the street sign. To get this experience going, you'll check-in with the staff and let them know you want to do the sunflower experience. It's $20 for 6 sunflowers and they give you looper (thing used to cut the flowers), sign a waiver, and you can into the two different sunflower fields to pick which ones you like. If you want to walk the fields, without picking flowers, it's $12 per person. Once we paid, we grabbed our looper and headed out. We had the dogs with us, and they had a blast just walking around and taking in the scenery. We found the sunflowers we wanted, and headed back toward the entrance to cut and clean the ones we picked. When we were finished, they wrapped up our flowers in a bag with some water so they could make the journey back home with us. The staff here were amazing. Since it was our first time doing this, they were patient with us and explained their best tips to cut and clean. Very nice people all around! Definitely a fun coast side experience and a great thing to do when the weather is as nice as it's been. If you are planning on going out into the fields, highly recommend bringing shoes you don't mind getting dirty.

We took a tractor out to the fields. We were able to pick Lapins (deep red and sweet), sweethearts (which my kids loved, but they were a bit more sour to us), and rainiers (the yellow red ones and our favorite as they were super sweet). The cherries were easy to pick even for our little kids, and there were a few ladders in the trees as well. We went on Memorial Day weekend so there was also a shaved ice tent and cannolis and Italian spritzes available for purchase. The farm was also selling sweet corn at the cashier. We ended up with about 8 lbs. You can bring your own food, drinks and your own bag/backpacks. Don't forget snacks, sunscreen, a hat and drinks! Also a cooler for your produce!

I was easily able to book a private guided ride with just the two of us and an expert rider. Our guide was so nice and equipped us with everything we needed to have a safe, but fun trip. It was a reasonably priced experience and absolutely worth it!

One of the horses, Elmo (20yo), does walk a little funny. I rode Ben who was a nice horse, snacked a lot, but overall a little silly horse. One of the guides told me to pull on the reins harder to get him to stop grazing, but I didnt know if he had a bit or not. I didn't want to hurt him. Elmo did try to bite Ben, but the guide brushed it off as horseplay. I didn't think it was since he kept trying to create distance between them. Upon mounting and adjusting the stirrups, I noticed that the saddle kept leaning to the left. I asked the guide if the saddle was okay and not ready to slide completely to the left, but she told me that it was just uneven ground. During the whole ride, I had to overexert my left leg to distribute my weight and not fall off. We stopped to double-check the stirrups halfway, but the guide only checked my right stirrup. I tried speaking up, but she ignored me. The guide's horse also got angry with another horse which a child was on. He looked about 10 years old and he seemed scared. The guide's horse did try to kick the other one. One of the ponies had a muzzle on due to biting. He did try to bite a teenage girl's leg. I couldn't tell if she worked there or not, but she seemed pretty young. A 7 year old was mounted on the pony and he did not like it. He kept reversing and shaking his head. The next day, I felt really sore in my left leg. I thought it was because of the bumpy ride, but the soreness kept getting worse. I couldn't (still can't) walk properly, lay down, or bear weight on it without being in pain. I talked to my friend who does dressage and she told me it was because of the left stirrup and saddle was set incorrectly. I wish there was an adult guide alongside the ones who looked about my age (17-18) because it would make others feel safe (especially ones with little kids) to know that there's another adult who has a lot of experience. I'm not saying that the teens are inexperienced, but based on what I've seen and been through... it seems like the best option.

Which meant easy parking for guests and tons of options to order snacks/ food etc nearby so you wouldn't have to lugg stuff from home - I called several similar places in East Bay, and Busy Bee was by far the most uncomplicated wrt managing guest lists, number of attendees etc. Most importantly: kids LOVED it and were super tuckered out after that!
