My family has been using Camp Bow Wow to board our dog for years now- it's the only place we've used since we got her 12 years ago. We've only had good experiences. Riley usually comes home nice and tired! We did learn the hard way that you cannot skip a bath before coming home after being there for a few days, but that's really to be expected. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming. Whenever we have looked at the Camper Cams to check on our pup, there is a staff member present. ‼DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR DOG.‼ I boarded my happy, healthy 6-month-old puppy at Camp Bow Wow Rockland (Nanuet, NY), and when I picked him up, I immediately saw a wound on his face. The staff had no record of any injury, and they originally dismissed it as "just dirt" or a "hotspot." When I brought him straight to the emergency vet, I was told it was a puncture wound and scratches consistent with a dog bite. Not only was it clear that no one noticed (or reported) the injury, but when I brought this up with the staff member (Karen), she aggressively grabbed my puppy's injured face, causing him to cry out and bite her in pain. I later learned she went to the hospital and likely reported the bite -- without disclosing that she handled him against my permission while he was visibly injured. I watched the facility's live cam during his stay and saw too many dogs in one pen, including my small puppy in with large, rough-playing dogs. I hardly saw staff interacting with or watching the dogs. It's clear that proper supervision was not happening, despite what's promised. I was left with a traumatized puppy, a $1,000 vet bill, and zero accountability or follow-up. This is not a safe place for your dog. Please think twice before leaving your pet read more

Camp Bow Wow is awesome! My dog Roxy LOVES going to camp. All I have to do is say "camp" to her and I get that head tilt and she starts bouncing up and down. Once we get to camp she can't get into the playroom fast enough! She comes out soaking wet in doggy slobber so I know she's had a great time lol and then she takes a nice long nap at home! my puppy used to go to camp bow wow. Until she broke her leg. A 5 month old puppy broke her leg in their care. The first call said they think she sprained it. After we called them to say it was broken and for them to "check" their film to see what happened (we had to ask them to do this) we never heard from them again. I could deal with an accident happening but I could not deal with a place that says they love dogs, not even checking on this puppy!! I left my dog at Camp Bow Wow for a temperament interview and trial play date prior to us needing to board our dog in the coming weeks. I was profoundly disappointed. My dog is very sociable and loves to play. Camp Bow Wow has webcams, thank goodness. I figured the first couple of hours he would need to adjust. I let the first 3 hours go. I started regularly checking after that, and was not happy that my dog was still in the corner. I watched staff members "interact" with their charges by talking to each other over the partitions separating the enclosures, or just standing in the enclosure talking on their cellphones. Not only was my dog not engaged at anytime, nobody else's dog was so much as petted. Skip this place. read more

It's literally my favorite place in the entire world! When I realize that my daddy is bringing me here, I get so excited I nearly miturate all over his car! I get to play with the other pups for hours, and I met some of the best friend's I've ever had here! The owner's dogs, Bodhi and Farfel, made me feel right at home. My mom and dad know that I'm being supervised and well cared for, so they can relax while I play until I can barely move! so we had a really terrible experience to say the least. I'm not one for writing reviews but this is important. I'd like to start off saying I've used camp bow wow in the past about 4 years ago for my other dog and we were pleased with their service and felt comfortable while away. Our older dog has since passed and after a year we got a 6 month puppy. He's now a year old and he's about 25-30 lbs. the first few days we couldn't find him on the camera. we called and the next few days we did find him on the camera (although I wish we hadn't) there were about 30 dogs piled into one single "playroom". and about 15 in the other one. and a solo dog in one playroom by himself. Oliver was left with the 80-120 lb dogs and boy did they have their way with him. anytime we logged in Oliver was being humped and fighting, biting other dogs back (and not in a playful way) other dogs were lining up to hump our small dog. the icing on the cake are the tons of screen shots I have of the straight neglect and lack of attention the employees give to the dogs. I have screen shots of the employees walking directly by as this is happening and not intervening. we ended up feeling so uncomfortable with their service that we ended up calling a family friend for an emergency pickup. pleaseeeee don't leave your dog here. it's not what it used to be and the employees don't care. they charged full price regardless of their lack of ability to do their jobs. we now are training our dog to not growl or bark at people in red shirts when this was never an issue before dropping him off. he came back with his ears batted and needing a check up. This was the chillest sweetest dog ever. Super easy going. Again please, if you care about your dogs well being, and it's under 80lbs. Don't leave your dog here. The customer service of this establishment is by far the worse. I have attempted to schedule a grooming appointment at the Nanuet location for 2 days. A gentleman who I spoke with on both days, indicated that the groomer would call me back to schedule the appointment. Neither day was I contacted. I refuse to call for a third time. Clearly they favor existing dog owners and do not respect the business of new clientele. Update: I finally received a telephone call from this establishment at 6:17 pm due to this review. Instead of resolving this issue or apologizing for the inconvenience, I was told my number was lost and was asked to remove this review. Poor organization. read more

I felt a bit uneasy leaving my girl with strangers. I was afraid that she would pick up bad habits from other dogs. But I will say that when I retrieved her, she wasn't shaking or disoriented. However, when she was trying to settled in her normal environment, she was somewhat lethargic, and not able to settle back into her day to day roll. After one day she was resuming her normal schedule. Over all, i would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone that needs a sitter. read more

We LOVE Camp Bow Wow! We've been bringing our dog Kozy there for about the last year, and absolutely love the convenience of being able to drop him off for the day rather than leave him home alone. We also love the ability to drop him off for the night when we want to go out or go on a short trip. Most importantly, Kozy loves his visits to Camp Bow Wow. As soon as he realizes where he is, he goes crazy to get in the door and start mixing it up with the other dogs. He's a particularly outgoing dog, but I would think that most dogs would like the opportunity to hang out with other dogs for an afternoon or evening. And most importantly, the people who run Camp Bow Wow are dog lovers and truly professional business owners. The owner David and his wife are terrific with the dogs, and you can tell just from meeting them how passionate they are about what they do. I love doing business with people who love what they do, and I truly feel that David and all the people at BowWow care about the dogs in their charge and take great care of them. I have a German Shepherd and Great Dane that I have left over night many times already at the Rockland location. The staff is great. They are very friendly and great with the dogs. There's also an app that you can use to watch your pups while they're playing. I feel very comfortable leaving my dogs here as I believe the staff takes good care of them. The only con I have is the price is a bit high. We moved from the west coast and noticed a significant price increase from the Camp Bow Wow we used to take them to. read more

My dog stares at me all day wondering when we will be going to day care, in fact I don't think she likes hanging out with me anymore but just wants me to be her escort service to and from Camp Bow Wow. The staff is extremely friendly and it's very apparent their first priority is the dogs. They all know the dogs by name even after just one appointment. They have even come outside to help me get the dog in and out the door when I have my infant in my other arm. The facility is clean and you can even see the rooms getting cleaned every night if you look at the webcams too late! I also have the itching suspicion that they've been doing my dogs nails for me without taking credit for it because she always looks fabulous when she comes home. The prices are extremely reasonable for boarding, day care and grooming. read more

They do excellent work at this location. This is my first time bringing my dog to day care and needless to say I was very nervous to leave my boy. The staff were completely understanding and put my mind at ease. I watched him throughout the first day on the live video feed and not only was the staff patient with my nervous check-in calls, but the counselors paid special attention to him as he acclimated to the new environment, encouraging him to play but also giving him space to get used to everyone. The communication with the staff is excellent. Since the first visit I have checked in periodically and I always see counselors checking in on my dog. They know exactly what is going on with every dog. Even today I sent my dog in with a sweater and saw on the video feed that it was gone. I called in to ask and they told me (without needing to check, they just knew exactly what happened) that the first thing he did when he got in was rip it off and throw it, lol. They also assured me that the counselor is keeping an eye on him (he was sitting on a snow mound, of course) and if he gets too cold they will bring him in to warm up. I have nothing but good things to say about this location, very well run and the counselors are attentive and go out of their ways to make sure all of the dogs are comfortable. read more

My Dog, Diego, is a very anxious dog who is very skittish around men. Bringing him on walks is a game of tug of war - if he sees a dog, he RUNS and when I try to get him closer to make friends, he gets aggressive. I decided to start bringing him to camp to introduce him to other humans and dogs. I thought this might help him get used to 'strangers' and also help him to play with other dogs in a friendly manner. I honestly thought he would fail the interview because of this but to my surprise, he PASSED! They are very knowledgable about what they are doing there and I could not be happier. Though this is only my second drop off, I felt compelled to write this review because of how awesome this camp is, along with those who work there. I used to love bringing my dog here, she always used to have an amazing time and the staff was always really nice and accommodating to her needs. After bringing her there for quite some time my dog got very sick and by doctor's orders I was no allowed to give her certain shots anymore and it is a requirement for all dogs that come here to bring in proof they had their shots, which is totally understandable. I would have no problem obtaining a note to bring in, which they told me they'd accept. One day I had brought her in and everything was perfectly fine they had no issues letting her in. I got a call once I got to work that her heartworm shot had expired (which I didn't realize) and they weren't allowed to have her near the other dogs so they would leave her in one of their cages for the rest of the day (so heartbreaking!). While I'm not discounting the fact that I completely understand their reason for this but it was everything that happened afterwards I was mad about. For starters, they should NOT have let her stay in the first place. I don't know why they waited until after I was at work to let me know her shot expired. This is something they should check right away before letting each dog in. On top of that, they said they would charge me a full days visit if I was leaving her there which is completely absurd considering the fact she would be in a cage all day. The woman on the phone (can't remember her name) was completely rude so I left work to go pick up my dog. When I got there the woman charged me for half a day when it was only about 45 minutes worth of time my dog was there. I tried to dispute it but the woman was completely unreasonable and unpleasant. When I asked to speak to the owner she said she'd contact him but NEVER did. We had to reach out to the corporate offices to get anything handled. I would never return because of this horrible experience. It is such a shame because the owner is a great guy and I always felt completely welcomed by him but because of this woman and how she treated my dog and myself, I'll never return. read more

My boyfriend's dog goes to Camp Bow Wow when he needs to go on vacation and no one else is available to look after her. Camp Bow Wow is close to where he lives, so he's easily able to drop her off. We've even been able to watch her on "doggy cam" too as she has fun running around with the other dogs, an enjoying herself. Its so nice that she is able to get so much exercise and have so much fun while she's there. She also goes crazy with excitement when we pull up to drop her off there.
