I've been a longtime client at the Tchoupitoulas location, which has been wonderful. I started taking my dog to the Conti location because it was more convenient for us. Unfortunately, my experience there has been disappointing. The staff at this location have been consistently less friendly and professional. During one visit, I was clearly next in line when a staff member asked who I was bringing, I responded and then the staff member looked directly past me and checked in another customer's dog . When I asked about it, I received only a confused apology with no real explanation. Additionally, I paid for a bath service at this location, but my dog still had an odor afterward despite being kept separate from other dogs following the bath. Due to these experiences, I will not be returning to the Conti location and wanted to share this feedback. read more

My healthy dog went to boarding with them for the weekend while we were out of town, and when we came to pick her up on Tuesday, she had kennel cough. Now she's been coughing, choking, and throwing up left and right. They didn't even have any medication we could give her. The lady who brought her out to us even said she had kennel cough, and how it was contagious and everything. When we asked about it, the lady said she started coughing that morning, and then tried to say our dog was already sick when we dropped her off. Not only was it expensive to leave her, there was no outdoor play space (at least not any one they used, as far as the cameras said), the pool was a straight-up lie, and the indoor play space had no equipment, was small with four bland concrete walls and a floor, and between that and the small kennels, it really wasn't all it was choked up to be. They didn't compensate us for the money we'll now be spending on medication and vet visits, nor did they have anything over-the-counter supplied on hand for us to use complimentarily or even to purchase. We will not be returning to Camp Bow Wow. We boarded our dog for 2 nights during Mardi Gras because we had to travel. After picking him up and returning home, we noticed he didn't want to eat or drink water. He threw up bile on several occasions. The only way he will eat is if we hand feed him. its been 2 days at home now, and it's clear that he was traumatized. This is a dog that is very well socialized and full of energy. After checking with our vet they think it was due to stress. We talked to the manager at Camp Bow Wow and he told us they had 100 dogs boarded over the Mardi Gras weekend. That's an incredible number of dogs to try to supervise. Our dog is slowly getting better, but we will never return. read more

In this review I have detailed my dog's and my own negative experiences with Camp Bow Wow Mid-City. My dogs experience included contracting hookworms and consistently being humped by other dogs under the supervision of the counselors. My experience included picking up a sick dog, incurring the cost of three vet visits, and a lengthy and tedious remediation process with the Camp Bow Wow Mid-City managers Bianca and Jason. I boarded my Golden Doodle, Rowdy for 3 days during November 13-16. Every time I checked the live video cam Rowdy was being humped by other dogs (see pictures below). I found this to be due to the poor supervision of the counselors involved. When I picked up Rowdy I was informed that he had an upset stomach and they had switched his food. I had not been notified of that via phone, it was something they just did. I also inquired about him being humped which the counselor apologized for and didn't seem to know anything about. The ensuing days Rowdy had wet stool and I became concerned. I thought maybe he was just traumatized from his experience. When I went to my initial vet he thought the same thing and prescribed stool hardener. Rowdy's stool become solid and appeared to be back in good health after a week. The following week Rowdy began having bloody stools and lost control of his own bowel movements. At this point I took him to another vet to get a fecal test done. The fecal test revealed that rowdy had contracted hookworms. In total it took 3 weeks to de-worm Rowdy and get him back in good health. Contact with Camp Bow Wow Mid-City My initial contact was with Bianca. I informed here that my dog was ill and inquired about whether or not that had a vet on site or a preferred vet partner, which they do not. My second contact, again with Bianca was to inform her that my dog had contacted hookworms under the care of Camp Bow Wow Mid-City. Her response was to pass me on to her counterpart Jason. My initial contact with Jason involved Jason denying any involvement or correlation between my dog staying there and contracting hookworms. At one point Jason had the audacity to compare it to a child getting sick at day care, when my dog contracted an intestinal parasite. My second contact with Jason involved negotiating only one of my three my vet bills. Jason who is not a vet was trying to educate me on what treatments were and weren't related to my dog's illness. My third contact with Jason involved him telling me that he was going to speak to his owner. My fourth contact was finally settling on an amount that ultimately was less than the cost of what I paid to board Rowdy there and not even close to the total vet bills that I incurred. I finally received a check for approximately 1/5 the amount of my total vet bills on January 11th , nearly two months after I first picked up my sick dog and after speaking with two managers five times. Overall, I would say the environment and supervision my dog was subjected to was extremely poor. There are simply too many dogs to supervise in one area. Additionally, the management showed no sense of urgency or care for the matter or the well being of my dog after he was picked up. Resolving the situation and caring for my sick dog during the holidays was the most painful and costly process that I have ever had to endure. I would not recommend this boarding facility to anyone. read more

Penny and Rainbow LOVE their time with their friends at Camp Bow Wow!! We had a family "emergency" and I realized I had a real problem... two energetic boxer puppies who needed frequent play and attention were not going to be easy for anyone. Friends recommended Camp Bow Wow Mid-city and I'm grateful for their guidance. Our boxer babies luckily fit right in and so was so glad to watch them playing with their new "friends" on the computer. I was able to get them in a suite for the time we were away and checked to see how they were doing often. It was hilarious to see how exhausted they were and how many times they shifted in their sleep. I think it's a great place for both doggy day care and boarding- I want my 'girls' to be happy and safe and they definitely get this at Camp Bow Wow Mid-City. read more

I live within a couple blocks- I'm in the back of my house with ear buds and I can still hear the incessant barking. We can't enjoy our porch, even guests and family have made comments. We can't enjoy our yard, dogs barking and employees screaming at them. We go for a walk, barking. The small park next door can't be peacefully enjoyed. The weekly farmers market, barking. Bands set up for a free concert, barking. Community gathering, barking. Why the city ever let you build on the edge of a neighborhood is beyond me. The building looks like a jail, and now the neighborhood suffers daily. I'm an animal lover- but you should have never built in this location. When we moved into our new place, we were incredibly excited to have Camp Bow Wow located literally around the block from us -- just a two minute walk to boarding, day care, training, etc. However, after her first/only long weekend with Camp Bow Wow, we will never take our dog there again. I suggest you don't either. Bottom line: our dog left Camp Bow Wow with several deep cuts and scratches all over her face/head. When we asked the staff about it, they told us that they'd informed us that she was a "hard player" and "enjoys rough play" -- which (a) they definitely did not, (b) definitely isn't true - we take her to the dog park several times a week, so we're very familiar with her play style, and (c) even if they had told us this, it wouldn't be an excuse for returning our dog to us damaged and sad. Do they not keep an eye on these dogs at all? Way to blame the victim. This happened more than four months ago and she still has a deep scar right above her eye. Since then, when taking our dog for walks down the greenway, we've heard staff yelling and swearing at dogs multiple times. It just sounds like a terrible environment. She's since stayed at two other boarding facilities and neither one described her as "rough" -- we instead heard "sweet," "gentle," and "shy." That poor pooch. Never again, Camp Bow Wow! I have been a customer here for my 2 dogs for a few years now. I won't be going back! I made a reservation back in March and was told I needed to email them new shot records. This was no issue since their annuals were in February (received Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella) in addition to their 12 mth pro-heart shots, a years worth of flea meds and a general wellness checkup. I took pictures of the records and emailed them in. I was notified months later that they never got the email. So I sent it again. No answer. This week, I was told they STILL did not get the records, so I forwarded the same email with the attachments. The manager responded back in all caps with an exclamation point, "I CANNOT MAKE OUT THE DATES ON THESE VACCINATION RECORDS!" That is ALL the person wrote back to me... My vet still uses handwritten forms with vial stickers for their vaccination records, so even though I thought the email was rude to say the least, I sent him a close up of the date (where you could still see the dogs name and the vaccination stickers). I even sent in a screen shot of my credit card charge at the vet that day to show it was that date. Then... after we have settled the DATE on the record, I get this email: "Ok so DOG 1 is out on his Distemper and DOG 2 is out for her Distemper and Rabies. None of the pictures sent are showing me the information I need." WTF!?! I have records from the vet that state they BOTH received these vaccinations 5 months ago and they aren't due yet! I called.... phone rang and rang and rang. I had to call 4 times before someone answered. Shocker... of course it is the same guy who emailed me in all caps and can't read a simple vet record! I explained that after sending records over 3 times, I wanted to walk him through each form to show what they each had done that day. His response was that he has been doing this for 14 years and that I was outta line for calling him with an attitude! I was still calm at that point even! He told me I have failed to send them vaccination records from a VET! I explained that Dr. Batt still does handwritten records and I'm not sure what else I can provide because these are records from Batt's office. He said he knew that but cannot accept these. Why?? I'm still unsure! I asked to speak to a manager (total Karen move I know... but I had a week long boarding stay with them booked in 3 days!!!) and he said he was the manager! Thank you Jason for being soooo helpful and kind! I shouldn't have to go back and forth by email with a business for 4 months to get my dog's records updated. If they needed to verify something they couldn't read, they could have just picked up the phone and called the vet. Even PetSmart does that when they trim my dog's nails. You'd think I company that I'm about to pay almost a grand to next week to watch my dogs could pick up the phone and verify something with the vet instead of treating their customer like a liar that doesn't get their dogs the vaccinations they need! I canceled my boarding stay and called Pawlins. I forwarded them the email chain from Camp Bow Wow and shocker.... They could read the records just fine! I wont' be returning to Camp Bow Wow... ever. I used to love bringing my dog to bow the Mid-City location. The last 4 times of bringing him has been nothing but problems. The first time I requested a bath before I picked him up. When I came at 3 to pick him up they had no record of him being there. Had anything happened to my dog during the day they had no recorded of who he was or who to call. And with that he obviously did not receive his bath. This most recent time I brought him I watched the cameras trying to find my dog. I called after 30 minutes to question where my dog was and was told he was in the kennel because he was barking at another dog. He had only been at camp for 1 hour at this point. I immediately went to pick him up and the rude girl at the front told me she was doing me a favor by only charging me for a half day. So $20 for 2 hours. I questioned her why he was in "timeout" for 30 minutes and she argued with me that it had not been that long. Gave nothing but attitude when I questioned her. I absolutely will not be returning to this location. It has become nothing but issues and the people working do not seem to care in the least. read more

Initially I thought this would be a nice place to board our pup, but after three visits I'll never come back. On her first visit, I would check on her about once a day with the camera feature on the app, and saw her getting harassed and mounted by multiple dogs with a supervisor standing idly near her. She came home with scratches and a scar on her side. I figured this would be a one time occurrence and boarded her again, but checked on her more often to make sure. Again, she was mounted by a dog and even scolded by a supervisor when she tried to move while the dog who mounted and humped my dog wasn't even addressed at all. Finally, despite having all her vaccinations, she cane home with a nasty case of kennel cough, an open wound on her leg, and another scratch. Find new supervisors before more dogs get hurt, this was an awful experience of negligence and uncleanliness and I would not recommend it at all. read more

Don't bring your dog here for grooming if they're scared of getting their nails clipped. They will be turned away. It seems like if your job is to handle dogs, you should be able to handle dogs. Apparently not here. Also, dogs have to be groomed before boarding, so if your dog is scared of having their nails clipped, they can be turned away for boarding last minute. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION!! The service was unorganized from the start. I made reservations but when dropping off the dogs they acted like we hadn't preregistered requiring us to complete the same paperwork we completed online. We brought both dogs food and medicine but neither was used. My dog has food allergies and I have no clue what they fed her but it wasn't the food I left for her because the bag was full. We also sent treats and none were used. When we picked up the dogs there was a 3 people there before us and about 10 came in after us, all left before us. We asked about our dogs twice and they tried to have me pay again in all their confusion. When did finally get our dogs (about 45 minutes after we got there) their harnesses were on backwards which I didn't notice until my dog flipped over backwards trying to get out of the building! One of the staff asked another doggie mom to go get her animal's collar from her bag she just took to her car because the collar they tried to use was broken. As we exited the building the staff put the broken collar on the dog and attempted to walk her out of the corral area just as we opened the door to exit. The dog darted toward the door, the broken collar gave way and the dog went unleashed out the door nearly knocking me over and fortunately into her Mom's arms before she crossed the street. The staff member ran outside and instead of apologizing she yelled "that is why we didn't use this collar"! Well DUH, why are you yelling at the mom, it was your mistake! The staff was rude and seemed unconcerned that they nearly caused an animal to escape into a heavily trafficked area. I have called twice to speak to a manage about the poor service, neither call was returned. I was left on hold for over 10 minutes on my 3rd call and disconnected. I will NEVER use this location again! It is more convenient than the Tchoupitoulas location for my family but they are so much better than the Mid-City location I would rather go out of my way!!! We just came to walk a foster, since I can't have one. He was a friendly little brindle boxer and was pretty good on a leash. Looking at all the awesome reviews I had high expectations of Camp Bow Wow but I did not have the same experience as those raving fans. My little pom needed a groom and unfortunately our regular groomer at the vet was no longer available and they were currently searching for a replacement. After doing my research I decided Camp Bow Wow was the best solution and being close by was also a plus. When I called their office no one answered. I called multiple times with no success and so thinking I had the wrong number contacted their other location. Turns out I had the right number but they were too busy to answer the phone but there's no business voicemail just an automated "no one can take your call right now." The day I arrived for the groom the only paper work I was asked to fill out was my dogs name, my name and phone number. When I mentioned this was my first visit they said that was all they needed and were about to take my dog when I asked if I could meet the groomer first. My dog gets snippy when you touch his feet and since there was no formal intake form I thought the groomer might appreciate some basic information about my dog and also what kind of haircut I was interested in! Kristen was very sweet and I felt better after speaking with her but I still felt uncomfortable that no one asked if my dog had his shots or a history of biting or if I even had a local vet. When I picked up my dog he looked great and was happy. But when we got home Zulu was overly thirsty (a sign of dehydration) and began profusely scratching and biting his entire body. At first I thought maybe he had picked up a flea or something (he's on Trifexis) but upon closer inspection his skin was pink and irritated. He had begun to break the skin. My vet said it may have been from over drying and to give him children's benadryl for a few days and cone him if the skin irritation persisted. A week later he's beginning to improve but I felt that my experience might be of some interest to Camp Bow Wow so that moving forward a few improvements to customer service and dog/employee safety might be made but a manager still hasn't returned my call so I'm sharing my experience in a review. The Camp Bow Wow facility was incredibly clean, the staff friendly and my dog got a cute haircut. However my vet has hired a new groomer and I will return to Canal Street Vet for my dogs next bath and trim. read more

you only get a 15 min. unpaid break during a 7 hour work day, sundays which are 5 hour work days, there's no breaks. many days, you'll get scheduled for a double you did not sign up for. they will work you 5 days a week and your hours will still be below 40hrs a week even if you're full time. for $11/hr you're expected to, scrub the walls, mop the floors, clean the cabins (100+ of them), work the yards which means playing with the dogs, preventing fights, dealing with aggressive dogs who like to attack others when you open the gate, dealing with mounting dogs. when you get hired they tell you that you will get bit, you will get poop on you, you will get pee on you, you will get thrown up on and you will get wet. you're expected to clean up all pee and poop in cabins and yards and keep them clean. and at the end of the day, squeegee all of the yards, feed and pill dogs, groom the dogs, let dogs in and out of yards, do dishes, drain the washing machine, clean the dryer, do laundry, mop the entire building. staff and coworkers are friendly, but everyone is so underpaid and burnt out that we don't want to be there. we've had someone quit by just walking out of the yard and letting all of the dogs out before. getting a promotion at this job is very difficult, and there's people who are shift leads that go in the yard when they're not supposed to. they will take all of your good dogs and put them in their yard, leaving you with an unbalanced yard. management refuses to dismiss severely aggressive dogs that have attacked both humans and other dogs. most days you'll be in the yard for most of your shift, besides for your 15 minute break, and in that time you're expected to not stop moving and to interact with the dogs without letting them in your face or getting on their level. there is also very minimal ac in the building for when you're in the yard because unless it's raining, you're expected to keep your doors open. read more

We walked in and walked right back out with him after giving it one more try. Original review below. Do not leave your dogs in the care of Camp Bow Wow. Here is the feedback we just gave Camp Bow Wow mid-city. Recently, there was a staff and management change. If you had asked us to review them one week before it would've been five stars all around. However, since this changeover we would give them zero stars if it were possible. Our dog, Larry, went from loving the place to being terrified to walk into the building within one week of your "changeover" that happened a few weeks ago. We love the staff and management before this change happened. Also.... On the last day Larry stayed at Camp Bow Wow, when we arrived to pick Larry up from his half-day stay we discovered the food we left the day before for his full day stay was not eaten. The first excuse given by the incredibly rude new employee was that he probably didn't finish his food. Larry finishes anything put in front of him. There is no way he did not eat his food. The next excuse was that he was fed the food that you guys provide instead of the food we brought for him. If this is true, this is absolutely unacceptable as we provided the food that we have chosen to feed him. Then, as we were about to leave, we were told we owed $28 for a full day. We informed the incredibly rude new staff member who cranked up the rudeness a notch at this point that it was only half a day. We were picking Larry up five hours and 40 minutes after we dropped him off. The new staff member informed us that a half-day is only five hours. Every bit of information we have ever received from Camp Bow Wow rated that half days are 6 hours. The staff member then informed us that it is actually only 5 hours and that you, Camp Bow Wow, had misinformed us for the last year we had been bringing Larry in. We were extremely confused by this and asked if this was going to be a warning so we knew in the future. No, they demanded to charge us for a full day. We asked why they waited until we were picking him up to inform us of this change instead of telling us when we dropped him off. This incredibly rude employee then told us that the information was on your website. And it was also on a flyer on the door. And there was no warning, we owed for a full day. That was the last day Larry attended Camp Bow Wow. We will not be returning. And we will definitely be telling everyone we know to stay away from your corporate nightmare of a company. read more

Even upon walking through the door, you can tell everyone here truly loves animals and their job. The facility is pristine and smells lovely. The little shop has a diverse selection of well-made collars and leashes for pups of all sizes as well as other items such as food. I brought my dog in for a grooming appointment with Kristin. My dog is a bit on the nervous side and is still relatively young and had only been groomed professionally before twice. Kristin took her time talking to us about what I wanted/how my pup was and I dropped her off feeling like she was in capable and caring hands. I received a call about an hour later (so fast!) that she was ready to be picked up. Not only does Guppy look great, I could tell she had a blast and all traces of nervousness had flown out the window. We will absolutely be returning. read more

We have also boarded here without any problems, and our dog is a nervous Nellie (this is the first place we haven't picked him up with hot spots from anxiety.) I called ASAP and no one answered so I left s voicemail. This place is amazing! The staff went above and beyond - even to the point of personally taking our dogs to the vet around the corner for booster shots during their own lunch break. Our two siberian huskies had such a great weekend at this location - they slept for a solid week after! They have plenty of staff who interact with the dogs constantly - we can spy on them via webcam and personally witnessed that they get over 12 hours a day of playtime. They even smelled great after their baths. Can't say enough great things - these people love their jobs, and it shows. want to like it. but, morning staff is less than comforting, annoyed, attitude. came home day one with deep cuts on belly and inside of leg. day two she reeked of urine, I don't mean like oh she is in dog day care and of course there will be odors on her, but this took it too a whole new level, either she was in one of those cells with urine for far too long, or she was peed on constantly. I don't know but came home and after spending $30 for staff to do nothing , I then had to wash dog in shower for last hour. pretty annoying. don't think I'll be going back. read more

Camp Bow Wow is an active part of my dog Attie's life. She goes to camp 2-3 times a week and loves it. She comes home worn out and it makes her a calmer, better dog at home. It makes me feel better that while I am away all day at work that she has something to do. Everyone there know my dog's name and actually gets excited when we enter the door...they say, Attie's here! Let's see Attie. How my Attie girl doing? I like that they also offer services to bathe and cut nails and clean ears, all while she's already there, all for less than having to take her somewhere else. We have also boarded her and completely trust the staff to do what's in the dog's best interested. I love watching her all day on the cameras, I can tell she's having a blast running around, playing with the other dogs. She also feels comfortable enough to take naps on the big red blocks when she's tired. I like there is always a person in the rooms monitoring the dogs. I like that CBW makes the holidays fun for the dogs too with Halloween pictures, Santa pictures and Christmas Tree Angels for dogs at shelters. We bought the largest package possible and go to camp frequently. It's well worth it for the 11+ hours she spends there on camp days. We love Camp Bow Wow, thanks for all your hard work and everything you do for the dogs. read more
