My family has a membership, so I get to head over the center whenever I'm in the area…read more The JCC has a (religious) school on the top floor, space for community theatre, daycare etc. But I mostly just use the gym! The gym is waaay better than it used to be! They did a major overhaul a few years back and it's now nice-sized. The cardio machines have their own area, and then the rest of the machines etc are on the other side of the desk. I wish they had more machines, but there is a pretty strict 30 minute sign-up rule when things are busy that seems to work. The locker rooms are nice, and they have a pool/sauna. I haven't used the sauna in like 5 years, but if I remember correctly they have a steam room and a nice hot tub. Now that I'm thinking about it..why haven't I used the hot tub the last few times??

Listen up, fall fun seekers: I tackled Maple Valley Acres' corn maze and yes... I got lost. A lot…read more But you know what? I had an absolute blast. Somehow, between dead ends, giggling kids, and my own questionable sense of direction, I managed to finish in 24 minutes and 40 seconds -- and I'm super proud of it, no matter what anyone says! I spotted the event on Facebook and had to get there before I missed my solo maze adventure. When I arrived around 2:30pm, there were maybe 10 cars in the lot -- plenty of space to get turned around in peace. The $10 admission included a free pumpkin afterward, which felt like the perfect little victory prize for surviving the corn chaos. The maze itself was challenging and super fun, full of twists, turns, and dead ends that had kids yelling, "It's ANOTHER dead end!" while I laughed and tried not to panic. The snack shack at the end was a sweet little reward, selling baked goods and homemade apple cider. I celebrated finishing the maze with a pumpkin whoopie pie, and oh my goodness -- moist, packed with pumpkin flavor, and stuffed full of sweet white icing. Absolute perfection. Props to Maple Valley Acres: beautiful property, friendly staff, and run by a first-generation farming husband-and-wife duo who clearly know how to make fall magical. I missed the farm stand this time, but that just gives me a reason to go back -- maybe next time I'll even find my way out faster! Moral of the story: get lost, laugh a lot, eat a pumpkin whoopie pie, and enjoy every fun minute of it!

We tried many sports before finding the Keeton's school. We've been here a little over a year now, the boys are both blue belts and first level certified in three weapons. They finally talked me into joining too and next month I'll test for my 5th belt. The kids are kind to one another; I implicitly trust our instructors. We had no idea how big our family would grow by taking martial arts classes.

Clean and a decent functional area HOWEVER they refuse to fix the air bikes (I've been asking for…read moremonths), they don't let you use dumbbells in the functional area (anyone else do devils presses or dumbbell cleans/snatches?). Just a bunch of really dumb rules. Shoes... really? Most people do deadlifts in socks because that's what's SAFE. Deadlifting in shoes is a great way to pull the old back. Yeah, I get you don't want people walking around in socks but to perform a movement in one place is perfectly reasonable. Please fix your bikes. Some of us are limited in what cardio equipment we can use. Also, look into a new leg press and adductor/abductor machines. They don't give full range. The leg press forces sheer force on the knees that's super painful. It's pretty much unusable if you have any OA in your knees.

The staff at the Carlisle YMCA childcare center lacks many things.. They are all young volunteers…read moreor young "teachers" who have no children of their own to offer real life experience. Communication amongst the center is terrible. Everyone will say how wonderful your child is & then the director will send you a nasty message bringing something to your attention you weren't even aware of.. save your time & money. Unless you want your child to be thrown on the playground with children of all ages ranging from 1-5 years old for most of the day with their expectation of them all acting right... They are good at throwing parties for the kids but god forbid a 1 year old doesn't know how to properly regulate their emotions or have better impulse control they'll start making accusations that your kid has a developmental problem... not to mention, after having our son evaluated by his doctor he was certain the daycare was the issue & insinuated they were not equipped to handle children's normal developmental behaviors. Most importantly, the fact that the directors daughter was starting in our sons class was the prime reason he was kicked out after being given SEVEN days to turn his behavior around, A ONE YEAR OLD. The situation is laughable, since it's clear they don't know how to handle the children at their center. While they only had 3 students in his classroom, the new center we recently switched to has 16 & they truly know how to handle each and every one of them all at the same time!
