This is a beautiful hike! There's limited amenities - only a pit toilet at the trailhead and one at…read morethe lake (with a campground), and you have to drive on part of a gravel road to get to the parking lot. The trail is a 4.5 mile out and back hike that takes you an absolutely gorgeous lake nestled in between mountain peaks. It's worth the time and effort. The boardwalk around the lake tilts and sags, but it's still navigable. The first part of the trail has some stairs and is nicely lined with gravel, but it gives way to more rocky area with tree root ladders. Pay close attention to the bright plastic ribbons if you're not sure where you're going. Other cool things to spot on the trail are wildlife (I saw a banana slug as well as small animals scurrying about) as well as small trees growing on top of large tree trunks. This hike however will reward you with beautiful views and a workout and if you make it to the top you will feel beyond proud of yourself. A quick climb up the ladder to the fire lookout will take you back into history with old letters and photos of what this land once was! It was too hot to read through everything when I came up so I will have to make more trips. The road going up is filled with holes, large holes that your whole car will dip into. I took it slow at first until another car passed me and I found the right technique for my subi. Yea a subi can definitely make the trek but just be gentle on your cars and enjoy the journey! The hike up is all stairclimbers. It's definitely not a walking trail for a casual stroll; it's strenuous but very fun. I felt I was in great cardio shape while hiking but my hips and knees definitely made it harder. Stairs made of stones, stairs made of wood, and the last bit leading to the lookout is all hopping over rocks and even pulling yourself up. Bring your hiking poles and it'll definitely help! $5 for parking without a Discovery pass.

There are limited parking spaces available, and you have to pay for parking from 8am-8pm. The first hour is $2.25. Pretty reasonable for the lighthouse, view, park to walk the dogs and clean public restrooms. The lighthouse was closed when we visited. From the signs, it looks like it's only open through September, so we just missed being able to go inside the buildings and gift shop. The grounds are kept so nicely...lawn edged, and beautiful flowers, some still in bloom when we visited. Overall a very cute and quaint lighthouse. Would highly recommend a visit!

There is a 10.00 boat launch fee and and it is always very crowded with very unhappy people most of the time. On top of that, no one follows the boating rules and posted signs and often wake boards and personal seadoos do circles around the end of the dock making it perilous at best to try to dock or launch your boat.
