The rangers drove by regularly to check on things. I would not choose Site #33 again, solely because the view there is mostly of the base of the big blue water tower. There is electric on sites #32 & 33, however, if you need it. Those two sites are closest to the camp host site.

Electric hookups in Butterfly…read moreloop, clean, hot showers, cabin rentals, and on-site firewood make this a comfy spot whether you're vacationing or just passing through. A paved health trail, multiple playgrounds, and a little lending library (books ranging from the Magic Treehouse to Bill Bryson and MFK Fisher) make this a family-friendly spot. The amphitheater view of Watts Creek was a great spot to recharge watching fish jump, hear frogs, and spy a lizard or two creeping the trees. Denton has groceries and other amenities within driving or biking distance, and The Martinak Boat and interpretive signs were neat. Alas, the nature center by the pavilion was closed during the week, and Martinak is rehabbing trails and the boat launch--no sunset views from the Point Trail at present. The park is at least up front about these two bummer's and hopefully work will be complete soon. We still has an excellent camping experience despite the construction. Use the dump station at nearby Tuckahoe State Park as the Martinak dump station's closed. Bring a kite to fly in that nice field by the park entrance, and enjoy bird watching. Woodpeckers, song birds, river raptors, even a blue bird appeared in our short stay.

That being said, we really love this campground, and I wanted to give them a well-deserved shout-out. We first visited in early November and liked it so much that we went back two weeks later. I was honestly surprised by some reviews claiming the owners are money-hungry or rip people off, because that was the complete opposite of our experience. We were originally supposed to stay there in October, but we had an accident that damaged our truck on the day of arrival. I called the resort to cancel and even told them I'd understand if they still needed to charge me due to the short notice. Instead, they gave us a credit for our next stay, which was wonderful and much appreciated. If you're looking for a campground loaded with frills, this isn't it. What you do get are beautiful sites, including the pull-throughs we stayed in that offer direct views of the Chesapeake Bay and some amazing sunsets. Sites include electric and water but no sewer; however, they provide septic carts and several dump stations, similar to many state parks. They also have fire rings and picnic tables, which should be standard everywhere in my opinion. Other than that, it's simply a quiet, relaxed, and scenic campground. My only wish is that WiFi were free, since it is at many other campgrounds. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The camp store has a solid selection of necessities, and the prices were not unreasonable. Given its proximity to Rock Hall (which is an amazing little town), Chestertown, and the Bay, this is definitely going to be one of our regular camping spots. We're already planning several trips for next year.

This would be a 5 star review for sure if the WiFi coverage was better, if there was sewer at the sites, if the bathrooms were open. They made it clear that these things were not included, so it was not a surprise and they do have portable restrooms around. One more portable in the middle of the B-site area would be good. Overall this place is great and we will be returning. Already booked as a matter of fact :)

Hmmm, seems more like the pool is available for school season only. Games room also closed. These closures should be listed on their website and not told when you arrive. It seems to be the season for giant horse flies too so reader, think carefully if this is a campground you want to come to. On a positive note, it is very peaceful and sites are spacious with lots of shade.

We said no, because we were just tenting it and their power center has 110V and that is all we need. Had to go back later to get said adapter because none of the 110V outlets work. So she got short with us because now we needed it. Apparently once these outlets quit working they don't fix them. Too expensive. Later we find that the 30A outlet doesn't work either. So, we used the neighboring site outlet. Bath house was clean albeit rather dated looking. There was about 2 feet of green mold on the outside. These people are crazy with dozens of rules and signs everywhere. A bit over the top. Speed limit signs are in 1/2 mph increments. Still trying to figure that one out. We probably won't be back.

It was an absolute joy. I would've recommend this to anyone. Even the trails that were rocky that go outback through the woods we did on a street bike no problem. They seem to be very well-maintained trails. At one point you had the super long bridge that goes over a swampy area, which is really cool too. On the way up on the trail, we saw a turtle crossing the trail on the way back. We saw but I assume is the same turtle taking a hole with his back legs. I don't know why I spent my whole life going to the Jersey shore. You drive an extra hour. You could come down here and have a super nice beach that's not packed and the super nice trails that you can bicycle too.

It's a smaller State park and slightly confusing with the direction's but the staff was helpful just get a map. We camped in a "walk back" section of E. Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter.
