When we showed up to the campsite, no one was there. We tried to contact the owner by phone, email, and text message with no response. Since we agreed upon the date, we set up our tent, called an Uber (the only reason we picked this place was for the shuttle service) and headed to the show. 4 hours passed still with a response. Had to walk back from the venue (Their site says its only 2 miles away but its actually double that) and when we arrived back to the campsite, we were welcomed by a guy shouting (I'm assuming it was the owner) that he was going to shoot us and the campsite was closed. Between all the emails, text messages. and phone call attempts, we were never told that the campsite was closed. The other group of people we ran into were also never told the campsite was closed. Stay away!

We were there for a Journey/Steve Miller concert at the white river amphitheatre, and were waiting for the shuttle graciously provided by the owners for a small fee, when my wife had to go back to the site for something she forgot. We came back to find out we just missed the shuttle. Ric, the owner, happened to be walking by and he offered to run us down in his car. I thought this was a great service to offer after the hard work he had done that day, getting everyone registered and settled in as they were all there for the show too. This place is brand new and Ric and Rebecca will be improving it more and more each year but for a new business they have won our hearts and we will be back for future concerts. I would love to keep this a hidden secret but I promised Ric to share with the world on YELP for everyone to enjoy. We will return!!!!

Also, you can rent a campsite or other parts of this camp whether your boy is a scout or not. There's a firebowl with concrete benches that face the water with a really lovely view. It's a good spot for meetings and performances and has a firepit. They have 13 campsites for rent with picnic tables and firepits, along with a lodge that has a full kitchen, fireplace, covered porch and restrooms. You can also rent canoes. There are BB gun ranges, archery ranges, an obstacle course, and activity fields. They have a rock climbing wall too. Set on about 20 acres, this camp is large enough for kids to get lost in so be sure to pack appropriately for the woods. I've been here a few times for Boy Scout events. The camp is well maintained. The firebowl is a great meeting place and the view over the water is nice, but it does get cold, even in the summertime. My son told me there are a lot of trails. There is a gravel parking lot with a narrow lane leading into/out of it. You can rent the whole freaking camp for $1,000 if you aren't a Boy Scout. If you are a Scout and in-council, it's $250, and if you're a Scout and out-of-council, it's $500. That's a pretty awesome deal. Very good family friendly spot and they do what they can with the space they have. The only downside is the consistent lack of food/snacks/games. 1/3 or or more of the very few games they have are ALWAYS out of order. The food is not always good and very often sold out as they don't make much during sessions -they mostly reserve the pizza just for the rooms. The candy machines are awful - all the decent stuff is regularly empty and the full sided candy they offer is about 3-4x the size price (i.e., the really small bag of lays is $3). Plus I once bought a candy bar there for my kid and the chocolate looked and tasted old, which means their stock rarely moves. Also, would be great if they offered some adult beverages on tap. FYI, it's never a "true" experience here unless u catch a glimpse of the older white gentlemen casually solo out dancing everyone on the rink. I think I will nickname him "White Lightning".

The guides were helpful, informative and efficient. The forest scenery was absolutely gorgeous with a light drizzle of rain. I have done several zip line tours and this one definitely had safety locked down. It required no athletic ability so it was easy for someone in their sixties and a child who barely weighed enough to be included. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The location was stunning! Did I mention the lavender lemonade was such a special treat?!

There's a total of 6 zip lines. They start at shorter and easier and increase in difficulty. I wouldn't say it's a very extreme zip line, there were plenty of young children doing it as well. Fun fact: the longest zip line is slightly longer than the Space Needle in length! There were about 8 people on the tour with my husband and I (not including guides). I think the only con is having to wait for everyone at every canopy which is understandable for a safety point of view but can take some time and I'm a bit impatient. But you're quite high up so I took the time to enjoy the views, peace and quiet of being in the forest! Also, a good opportunity to strike up some conversation with everyone else. The staff helped us get into our gear, get in and out of every zip line and gave us a velocity push when we wanted extra speed very kindly. Halfway through the tour, you even get freshly made lavender lemonade which was delicious. I would try to book this in advance if you're trying to go on a weekend. I went on a Friday afternoon and was lucky enough to book same day. All in all, if you're looking for a fun day trip activity nearby Seattle - this was an hour and a half drive and just a lovely day! Would come back for sure!

Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.

It's a wonderful community destination because it's easy to reach, and both the park and lake are generally kept clean, attractive, and well maintained. Like many popular recreation areas, the lake can become quite busy on warm days and weekends, and occasionally some litter is left behind. What I appreciate is that by the next morning the area is often cleaned up again thanks to the hard work of park staff and community members who help keep the park looking its best. One of my favorite things about Steel Lake is that it is stocked with trout once or twice each year, providing great fishing opportunities throughout much of the season. Visitors come here to fish, swim, kayak, paddleboard, and enjoy boating, with only battery-powered motors permitted on the lake. Overall, Steel Lake is a fantastic local resource that offers something for everyone and remains one of the best places in the area to spend a relaxing day outdoors.

The cops do come around for their rounds sometimes, but not all the time . I always have my eyes on my kids because there were sooooooo many people and soo many kids during school break holidays and I can't even imagine summer break. If you want to entertain your kids for hours bring them here and just have a picnic and enjoy the sand with the kids. Don't forget the shovel and bucket though lol.
