My kids have been coming here for years, long before the new ownership. I hear they're doing some renovations, which are long overdue. Very good family friendly spot and they do what they can with the space they have. The only downside is the consistent lack of food/snacks/games. 1/3 or or more of the very few games they have are ALWAYS out of order. The food is not always good and very often sold out as they don't make much during sessions -they mostly reserve the pizza just for the rooms. The candy machines are awful - all the decent stuff is regularly empty and the full sided candy they offer is about 3-4x the size price (i.e., the really small bag of lays is $3). Plus I once bought a candy bar there for my kid and the chocolate looked and tasted old, which means their stock rarely moves. Also, would be great if they offered some adult beverages on tap. FYI, it's never a "true" experience here unless u catch a glimpse of the older white gentlemen casually solo out dancing everyone on the rink. Adult skate night was THE most fun I've had in years! The DJ was outstanding. He knew how to mix the music and read the room to keep people skating. First of all, the music never stopped. It just flowed from one song to the other. It slowed down to let people rest while skating. Then after a while he gradually picked up the beat until people were up bouncing again. You cannot buy that type of skill...you have to have some YEARS & Experience on you to learn that! ElCentro skating rink was friendly & Inviting with security on campus. Free ice water at the snack bar. Newly renovated bathrooms. Nice rental skates & blades. Tables, chairs and rental lockers for those who need them. There is a small arcade for the kids but I did not use. My girls ordered fries, "They were perfectly salted." Painted murals on the walls with the color scheme nicely done. They have a skate store where you can buy stuff. I noticed a prize ticket store for the arcade. If you want an upgrade to your regular skate night, and if you are grown, choose to go to Adult Skate 18+ and have a great time. read more

This place is severely neglected and feels unsafe. The ceiling tiles are stained, sagging, and look like they could collapse at any time--a major safety hazard, especially for families and kids. IT'S A NO FOR ME, DAWG! I used to skate at Pattison's West before the change over. If you know what the rinks all about, prepare to be disappointed. A $15 entry fee per person to a family skate session gets you: - BAD MANAGEMENT. All of the employees are kids, except for the dude who sits in the back twiddling his thumbs, watching cameras. They don't skate the floor to ensure safety/enforce rules on the rink during the sessions. Kids skating the wrong way, people walking/running on the rink with no skates, cups of water/food/candy brought out onto the floor, constant debris on the rink because they don't sweep/mop/vacuum, wet spots on the rink when it rains due to a ceiling leak. I could go on. - BAD SKATES. Dirty wheels, no wheel rotation, no bearing maintenance, poor laces. They do have a wheel wash, but they'll charge you a fee to wash their gunk off of their wheels that they charged you $15 to use. - NO RINK MAINTENANCE. The floor has been refinished, but they never sweep or mop. The carpets are so filthy that your wheels get gummed up bad, even post wheel wash. - NO FLOOR GAMES. No limbo, no Hokey Pokey, no number game, no dice game. Occasionally they'll stop the session for speed skating/races, but winners won't receive a prize. No candy or even a small concession. Lame. - TOO MANY SKATE TRAINERS. They rent out so many it becomes hard to maneuver the rink. You get stuck in pockets where you're caged in. - GROSS BATHROOMS. The bathrooms have been remodeled, but nobody ever services them. No toilet paper/paper towels/soap, wet/messy floors, clogged toilets. You name it, it's there. - BAD MUSIC. A small inconvenience, but I go weekly and it's always the same playlist on repeat. Song requests only happen if you're diligent enough to ask more than three times. Bring headphones. - The doors don't open early for tickets, so 15+ minutes of your session is wasted standing in a "line" that has no beginning or end. Bought online tickets? You're still stuck in that line. Renting skates? Add 10 more minutes before you can hit the rink for that hefty $15 price tag. A lot of the games are broken, the icee machine works maybe 50% of the time, they're bad at inventory and re-stocking their snack bar refreshments, and it's common to wait 20+ minutes for a simple pretzel with cheese. This rink is being run into the ground. It's a sad time for rink skaters trying to pass the baton to our kids. read more

If I could give a negativity rating I would. This place seriously needs some health inspection at the least. the smell in this place was horrendous. When we finally got into our party room about 145pm the smell was overwhelming strong, a chemical, instant sickness kind of strong. After speaking with the person in the DJ booth they informed me that the floors were just redone and that the ventilation in the place was supposedly on. I asked to speak to the manager multiple times but no one seemed to care, they brushed me off, and left us to just suffer. We had to keep going outside for fresh air and still tend to our guests which was unacceptable. Not to mention, some of our guests needed to leave due to medical conditions which flared up as a result of the chemicals lingering in the air. The party check in desk was just horrendous because of the general line to get in, we literally had to squeeze in with all our party goods and bumping into people while waiting past our paid party time. I paid for party room to be in the actual room at 130pm, but was not even checked in until after 130pm we got into the party room to have to still set up. Considering that we got into the room 15 mins lat the staff should not be rudely kicking us out just because the process for party check in and setup are lacking! I had to keep asking staff for stuff for the party room such as our 3rd pizza arrived 30 mins later but no one came to check on us, I had to go and ask where it was. The lighter in the room was broken and I had to hunt someone down to get another. The room itself needs better ventilation and air. This is such a serious health issue with little kids and the chemical smell. There was lack of attentiveness, or any kind of care for that matter, when asking for help or speaking to staff in general they plainly didn't care to engage with care or intention. Either they hired the wrong people or the staff are not trained nor given proper consequences for poor service. read more

Despite our group of four having clearly occupied our seats with personal items, several individuals pushed their way in and sat down without asking. After taking over the space, they began eating food right beside our belongings. It was incredibly rude and inconsiderate behavior that I haven't encountered before. Which is okay, but we are all 21+ , so why the focus on pop and stereotypical AND censored hip hop. They used to play southern hip hop and better oldie jam skate music- now it's "Yeah" by usher and all the TikTok trend songs. Trying to make this place for for everyone is making it generic & unexciting. Adult skate nights might as well be family nights too. The music has been terrible lately. No flavor at all. Our 5 y/o daughter decided she wanted to try our roller skating for the first time. We don't have many options in the area and having read existing reviews I was reluctant to take our family to this establishment. However, the whole experience was great. Location had sufficient parking. Staff were courteous and friendly throughout our entire visit. Our visit was cut short after our daughter fell and was too upset to continue skating. Both myself and the wife had a few minutes each and then we left. We will come back and visit again and hopefully stay a little longer. read more

We rink rats are so lucky to have such a fine rollerskating rink, with a HUGE, smooth, world-class skating floor, excellent management, friendly, efficient, helpful employees, capacious parking, DELICIOUS pizza, and a wide array of nice people of all ages skating at all skill levels. Instruction is available for beginners and experienced skaters alike (kudos to rollerskating teachers Kim, Kayla, and Linda!) It's the best around the Puget sound. Rink is big and smooth. The energy is good. Took my kids here during family skate and they loved it. It's newer and better maintained than most of the places we've been to. The staff is also very friendly. It gets packed but they do have period when you can skate fast which is nice. The customer service here is pathetic! Just had a b-day party here and rented skates, trainers, etc for multiple kids. Also, purchased the terrible pizza (overpriced) with pitchers of soda. The kids enjoyed skating and it's a shame roller rinks are becoming extinct. After skating and eating tried having a gift exchange at a table and the manager came over and said that we were violating policy because we didn't rent a party room. You need a party room to exchange b-day presents? Interesting as I guess party rooms are not required for all the intoxicated adults walking around. Pattison's West Skate is currently my favorite location to skate between Seattle and Olympia. We attended an Adult 18+ Sunday night skate and were impressed by the live DJ, wonderful music, reasonable concession pricing, and shop within the skate club. The food is what can be expected of a movie theater, not necessarily poor quality but not necessarily amazing, simply okay enough to hold you over. The shop has a wide variety of skates, shirts, sweat rags, shoe laces, etc. To choose from with reasonable pricing! In addition most of the people skating were quite nice and fun to watch as an amateur skater. Many people were dancing together and helping one another when needed. The service was wonderful and the people working there seem to really enjoy being there. I'm hoping to return here soon as I continue to practice skating and hopefully learn to dance with the rest of the skating crew. read more

I've been coming here every Sunday for the last four to five months. 18+, good music MOST times! $11 with your own skates. Can't beat it. There's many friendly faces for beginners. I've gone by myself a time or two before and it's not awkward or anything. Love the skate culture & the smoothness on Sundays. Things to note: slow skaters on the inside. Fast skaters on the outside. The only complaint I had was struggling to use the toilet because it Renés so low to the ground compared to normal one but it's no big deal. Me and my friends had fun but in the time of the virus you have to buy your tickets in advance online which wasn't a problem for us. They had lockers and we fit 3 purses in there and ever time you want to lock it, it cost a quarter. They still had the reverse time and some little games or skate time for just little kids so that was nice. Adult night Friday night: Disappointing to see what it looks like now that the Pattison Family sold it. The lights were barely on so it was dark. The wood floor had pit marks all over and gum in certain spots. I kept skating and staring at the floor in disbelief. You could feel every little mark as you skate. The reason I loved the rink before was the pride I saw in how well they maintained the floor. The music sucked the first couple of hours and then a few real songs for rhythm skating played probably because skaters requested them. I will not be returning unless they clean and take care of the floor. What a shame. read more

If old and grimy with a side of claustrophobia doesn't bother you might actually like it here. This is supposed to be the best skate place in the puget sound? It needed a remodel decades ago. Anyway, we drove up for a birthday party on a sunny Sunday and not only was it crowded but the kids party room was ridiculously small. The glow effects (an upgrade in the birthday package) was the only thing that made this confined space somewhat cool for the kids. The lighting in the whole place was just awful tho so don't count on getting any decent photos. What's lame is they sold out of the skate trainers before 2:00 so I guess we should feel lucky my kid who's never skated before got one even though it was toddler sized where he had to hunch over to use it. Not a great experience. Arcade games weren't appealing either. Only reasons I gave 2 stars was because the punch & pizza wasn't bad and the employees we did interact with were pleasant. Oh and I was feeling the music playlist. Still not somewhere I'd personally ever choose to return to. read more

My friends thought that I was joking when I said that I wanted to have my 24th birthday party here. I wasn't. This place brings back childhood memories and can be fun for all ages. Watch out though because the ones who are under 12 years old and under 4 feet tall seem to take over the rink and the place. You can't really blame them though because it is their territory. You wouldn't believe some of the middle school gossip I overheard in the bathroom. Some of the kids are so snobby, they sort of hurt my feelings. It didn't smell tooooooo much like socks like I had expected. Overall, this place is fun and its nice to have a night different from the typical and usual. Flashback to my elementary/middle school years, I won't state the actual years, just so I don't feel any worse than I did skating with my 9 year old daughter and her friends:) This place was just how I remembered my old skating rink!! Hardwood floors, the snack area, games, lockers and even the restroom stalls, haha!! Oh and I will add the smell, which I won't say is pleasant but it ALL just brought me back. My inner child came out even more so than at my own daughter's skating party at Wheelz. The music they played was pretty good, my daughters and friends looked at me weirdy as I got excited when they played "Pour some Sugar on Me,'... ok just gave away a little hint:) I had to skate hard to this song, LOL!!! Even though this place brought back alot of awesome memories, I will say that I preferred the Wheelz location as it was much more open and spacious and just more modern, i.e. no smell:) An added plus- I saw the pictures of Apolo Ono and pointed them out to the girls, they were sooo excited to know that he trained here! My Husband has never had a birthday party (he's now 37), so I decided to throw him a private skate party. I'm so glad I did. This establishment is clean and smoothly run with a staff that seems more like family. They were all so awesome, especially the young man that helped us most throughout our 2 hours. His name was Spencer! He was friendly, helpful and super fast. My family said he was super cool too. I appreciate that. We ordered pizzas / soda from the snack bar and although they weren't gourmet (wasn't expecting that lol), they were good! Everyone enjoyed them. The gal in the back making these up seemed a little shy but was super helpful also. She checked on us often. I would totally throw another party here again. I've been going here my whole life. It's a great place to skate as an adult or child! A couple downfalls include the air conditioning.. do they have ANY? It's extremely hot in there even just first stepping foot inside. The smell isn't the greatest either. They hire mostly young teenagers which I also think is a small downfall. Do not go to El Centre Skate Rink. Visited my first time with my girl and some friends the weekend before Halloween; kids throwing skate trainers at each other and tripping each other on the ring. Had to tell them to stop repeatedly only to be confronted by a young employee that sided with the kids. I told management and they sided with the young employee about me trying to swing on kids. The assumption that I would threaten multiple children in public because I'm older, and not listening to what I had to say Because I have a threatening appearance, yet I'm in a anime devil cosplay costume, on Halloween night. The kids stole the skate training guards from kids much younger, and stole food from other paying customers that complain and are not heard. I vouched for the Mexican grandma that had her granddaughter skate guard stolen, for her to vouch for me and a bald headed Caucasian manager saying they can't do anything. In short, the staff do not listen to customers, the young employees favor the kids and so does management. I eventually willfully left. Just don't go here at el centro skate ring. read more
