The highway isn't too heavily traveled, so the sites are fairly quiet, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Tables, BBQ grills and fire rings...plus very clean vault toilets and running water. Being in view of the highway, the sites don't feel very secluded or private -- but that is more than made up for by the fact that directly across the highway is a little all-natural sandy-bottomed hot spring, right on the banks of the Payette River. As far as I know you can soak any time, day or night, in a little rectangular pool that used to be part of a bathhouse or something back in the day. We walked over from our campsite after dark, and hiked down for a very relaxing soak. This place is not hardcore, remote or rugged....but I still give it 5 stars because it's clean, beautiful and EASY! And sometimes, that's what you want! I would definitely stay here again...but if you don't want to camp out, you can use the springs for free by parking in the little day use lot at the trailhead, just across from the campground.

The RV sites are terraced with plenty of space so you do not encroach on your neighbor. There are plenty of tent spaces, but portable toilets are being used near the lagoon. Some tent sites have spectacular views or your tent can be in a remote location in a wooded area. WiFi is spotty, but who cares when you're surrounded with peace and quiet beauty. The cabins appear to be clean with abundant parking spaces that don't obstruct your porch and entry. As a RV'r, I highly recommend this location.

Being more of an RV park, It seemed like a campground where most of the people bring their own entertainment (aka quads/sxs/dirt bikes). As far out as it is, there's not a lot to explore on the campgrounds. To explore you have to go out on the dirt road. They do have ping pong tables & a horseshoe pit. Most of the people staying there had dirt bikes and quads. They'd all be coming and going at times. At night, it was very quiet. They have warm showers, and a clean bathroom (clean for camping standards). To note: It's a fairly long (~9 miles) trek on a dirt road to get to the campground off of I-90. Expect your vehicle to get dirty on the way in/out. There was zero cell service (Verizon). Overall, I would recommend this campground!

Site 60 | great location | great amenities…read more We stayed one night in our sprinter van along the way to Yellowstone. This place is perfect for what we needed. Our site was close to trash bins to empty our trash and a one minute walk to the bathroom and camp kitchen area, if we needed to do some cooking. Our site has a nice little picnic table and fire ring. Lots of folks were using the fire pits, so there is no fire ban here. We are so close to the lake! Lots of trees here and our spot has enough shade to hide from the hot summer sun. Our site was #60 with an electrical hookup, thank goodness. It helped us not to drain our battery when using the a/c. Our site is in between a cabin site and a tent site. The site is small and fits our 24ft van perfectly. The big thing was that it is level! No adjusting. There is a store in the front and a swimming pool, which is popular when it's hot out. I did not need to do laundry, but they also offer that here. Patchy internet at our site, but we were able to use our starlink instead. Overall, we can't complain because this is glamping to us with all of our needs met. I recommend stopping here if you need a place to camp on your way to Yellowstone.

To see the actual location, refer to Google Maps. A lot to like here, and it's all dry camping. But if you are used to metro area conveniences, be ready to drive 20+ mins, with Suncrest being the better option, vice Reardan or Wellpinit. It's a pretty drive, wherever you decide to go. Sites here are spaced nicely for semi-privacy; meaning, it's nice to have a quiet space, but it's also nice to see neighbors 30 yards away. A full camp is a safe camp this far out. If you have a travel trailer, don't get Site 4. It's set up is 'against the grain' for the 1-way road, and the only reason we made it in was because of our smaller RV. Big rigs? No way. They have these--I guess--decorative rocks to define each camp site. They're in the way, mostly. Otherwise, if you have booked online, it's plug and play. We got to our site; name on the reserved placard; and let the relaxation begin. Easy...

If you do not like being next to the freeway, this campground is not for you. It did not bother us. We also take advantage of their half off rates during September. Thank you Wolf Lodge for that. Next, the campground has a lot of activities which we were not able to take advantage of. We were visiting friends in CDA and spent most of our time with them. I wish we had time borrow a canoe, hike and use the sauna. We had site number 12 a pull through with full hook ups. It is an end unit and we enjoyed it. The campsites in the center row have you facing the backside of another camper and it's hook ups. There are pull thrus, back in sites, tent sites, and adorable log cabins for rent. All sites come with a picnic table. There is a lot of shade. We felt very safe and even left our bicycles outside of our RV overnight.

The former site of a Naval training station: Over 293,000 sailors received basic training here. Who would've thought a Naval training facility would be in Idaho? It was also used as a German POW camp during WW II. There are so many things to do here. Tour the Museum At The Brig, go hiking of one of many trails, camp at one of their numerous camp sites, play disc golf, bring a lunch & picnic along the shoreline of Lake Pend Oreille, the largest lake in ID. Fishing, sailing or boating. Visit the beautiful viewpoint at the end of South Rd. Shooting ranges or even a model airplane flying field! However, I must say their gift shops are somewhat lacking. Go for a day or a weekend, this park is just great.

It's walking distance to cheap liquor and old broads hitting on you, and that will always be on my life's agenda. I don't know if the Wifey would agree with that, but she did say the bathrooms were large, and set up nicely for anyone who has ADA needs, which we do not. No sewer hookups to be seen, but we never use our black water line, so. Cool thing is they let non-members stay here, too, and for $60 bucks (members $40), that's a good deal; but, they offer an option to party at the lounge for a small cover charge, and that can be done on the online reservation system. Smart as all get out in my opinion for getting new membership. We stayed on a Friday night, and it was a bee hive of activity. Located in a very quiet suburban area, with some light industrial and the airport right by it. Man, you could do worse in this area for a lot more dinero. Great job, Eagles...
