My god-daughter enjoyed the pony ride. We definitely enjoyed the entire day here. My god-son fed and petted a few animals.

There are mixed age groups and it's amazing to see how kind and supportive the older kids are to the younger kids. The counselors (mostly former campers I think) are hilarious, energetic, creative, kind. Don, a former teacher who has run the camp for over 40 years, is very thoughtful and reflective and the kids love him. This camp gives kids the space to discover their own confidence, creativity, initiative, and it's really really FUN!!!

Starting with Nature Camps' "Little Feet" program, they have grown through the Day Camp and, for the first time, this past summer, "Teen Adventure". The counselors' skills in facilitating each child's personal development and ability to connect with people and the environment around them are astoundingly spectacular. I've lost count of the time I've found myself using the word "magical" to describe how Nature Camps is able to reveal, respect and develop children's best selves. Pick up and drop off at Nature Camps' rustic, wooded location in Monkton offers parents an opportunity to connect with their children and participate in fun activities like "Big Circle". (The (optional) van service from Greenspring Station and/or ad hoc carpools offers other options for families who'd prefer to reduce their own driving time.) In these ways, Nature Camps' values and opportunities outweigh the factors of cost and convenience. Our family's favorite part of each two-week session is the Family Overnight. Overnight activities include a potluck supper followed by entertainment from campers and staff as well as family and friends followed by activities like as night hikes, crafts, and singing by a campfire. They have tons of cool animals, mostly reptiles and sea animals but also some birds and an armadillo. All the employees seemed super passionate about their job, they were great with the kids, and they facilitated the party well. There was plenty of space for the kids and their families and I'd say the adults were as engaged in the activities as the kids. There was free time for the kids to look at all the exhibits, the charismatic host brought out a lizard, an armadillo, a boa, and a cayman to teach us about and let the kids touch. There was time for pizza and a dinosaur egg hunt. Everything was clean and they did a great job sanitizing between animals and doing hand washes before food.

I visited Beachmont's corn maze this past weekend with my family. It was a great time! The staff…read morewas very friendly and really seemed to enjoy their job. The corn maze was Star Wars themed, complete with an automatic entrance like a door to a spaceship. There were four separate areas of the corn maze designated as different planets (White Marsh the swamp planet and Towsonene, for example) where you had to find different stations on your quest to become a Jedi knight (goggles to protect your eyes from the sandstorms, "Hon" frozen in graphite, "See 3PO" to guide you). Along with the corn maze they had a concessions stand, a bonfire where you could roast marshmallows, a hayride, a few carnival games and a play area where younger kids could play. It was a great set up and I highly recommend this maze for adults and families.

Our family experienced discrimination when they unenrolled our daughter when I kindly expressed concern about some things the director stated at orientation. Keep your kids safe from this harmful and hateful place.make sure you read through the church doctrine before you enroll your child. It's very hidden on their website which makes their "outdoor camp" theme super misleading. .

I came the last two…read moreMemorial Day weekends as a staff member of Sun Sibs, through John Hopkins University - a camp designed for the children of siblings w/ cancer. Our mission is to provide the children with a fun filled weekend solely focused on them, since so much of the attention in their homes are given to their brother or sister battling this terrible disease. The campground at Puh,Tok is beautiful. Everything you would need is there, from scenery, to swimming, last year we had a rock climbing exhibition, to archery, and plenty of things that I'm sure I'm forgetting. The cabins are cool too. I'm a city guy so it's incredibly difficult for me falling asleep in cabins with thin mattresses and bugs, but me being able to do it, then come back a year later and do it again speaks to the quality of the entire experience. Ultimately, I will be doing this as long as I am physically able, and I hope that Camp Puh'Tok is our chosen destination.

I sent my 4 year old son to this establishment for Summer Camp starting in June 2019. He was born…read morein January 2015, so he will not be 5 until next year. Before registering I had a phone conversation with one of the staff members. I specifically asked if they were sure that they accept preschool age children for camp. He reassured me that they have in the past. I explained that my son was in preschool at a center but would start pre-k at a private school in the Fall and was told that was fine. I visited the place twice without my son to obtain paperwork and to drop off the paperwork and immunization records and still was told that all was well. His age and school information was included in writing as requested on their forms. Fast forward to my son starting camp. The first week was fine and he seemed happy. I did not receive any complaints from the staff or my son. A couple of weeks later, my husband picked my son up and the female staff person asked about my son's academic abilities. She seemed surprised that a 4 year old child could not write numbers independently. That was strange to me as I assumed that staff working with children would receive some sort of training on developmentally appropriate activities. I chose not to make too much of the issue. The next week I received complaints about the need to redirect my son from approaching the deep end at the pool during a field trip and again about them taking his play time away because he was not writing his numbers. Any parent or individual properly trained to work with children would know that four year old children often require redirection. They also should be able to recognize numbers and letters but might not be writing independently yet. My son can write letters of the alphabet, his name, count to 100 and more but that was not enough for them. I was appalled at the fact that his play time was used as punishment since play is the most important form of learning for a child at that age. The straw that broke the camel's back was that a staff person called my son "stubborn". My family is not perfect but we definitely are not tolerant of name calling. We do not call our child names and would never allow anyone else to do so. US Martial Arts is not a bad place for elementary age kids but parents of preschoolers beware. I would NOT recommend sending your child under six years old to summer camp at this establishment. Expectations are unrealistic and trust me when I say you will notice a difference in your child. My happy go-lucky boy who has always been rated as above average and is very well liked by teachers was in tears when I reminded him on Sunday that he would go to camp on Monday. Needless to say, I pulled him out and made other arrangements for him to be in a loving environment with folks who understand how to work with children his age. I would have appreciated a denial when I inquired about signing him up for camp if they are inexperienced with his age group. I would have also appreciated feedback daily about his play time being revoked instead of finding out the way I did. When I called to inform them that he would not return, no questions were asked. That is less than ideal customer service since I have already spent almost $1,000 with them. All is well as the happiness of my child is all that matters.

What sets Arrowhead apart from other camps is that it is a Christian Community. In terms of the day to day life of camp, this means that campers stay with their unit for all of their activities. This provides campers with a group of people who they really get to know and feel comfortable around, which allows campers to push themselves.
