The sad part is when a person have to work they have to deal with the consequences of dealing with terrible daycare facilities. First off the cook at this establishment is very nasty and unclean. His clothes are very dirty and smells bad and he walks around touching food and doorknobs with his bare hands. A typical breakfast there would be a single cup of yogurt, or a blue berry muffin, or simply just a plain waffle. They don't feed the kids a real breakfast and it's high in sugar. My child was brought food and on his last day there they remembered he couldn't eat their food but didn't get him his snack until 20 mins after giving the other kids gold fish. It was heart breaking watching my child cryin to the adults for food and attempting to grab the kids goldfish. Not to mention one of the staff members stood next to them on his phone the whole time. I told them and even provided a doctors note that my child isn't allowed to have milk but they actually poured him milk on serval occasions after being reminded and he was even able to get other kids cup of milk. They say they do family style dining but they don't sit with them while they eat so if your child has a deadly allergy to any food do not and I repeat DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!!

Classes became increasingly rushed, with students quickly churned through and rewarded with belt stripes after every session, regardless of skill or understanding--akin to a meaningless participation trophy. Their scheduling approach makes everything worse. Classes are booked back-to-back with zero transition time, creating absolute chaos. The parking lot is a constant traffic jam with one group trying to leave while another arrives. Inside, the changing areas are a zoo with kids literally pushing each other to get their belongings while parents wait in the designated area. Classes routinely start 5 minutes late and end 5 minutes early - that's 10 minutes of instruction time lost just to accommodate their overcrowded schedule. I brought this up politely, but my concerns were completely ignored. After two years, my child still hasn't learned the basics: proper stances, how to punch correctly, or even simple defensive moves. Instead, she spent time running obstacle courses, practicing phone numbers she already knew backward and forward, and getting lessons on cleaning up after herself and helping parents. I don't need to pay premium rates for things I teach at home. The overcrowding got ridiculous. One freezing day (19°F with 35mph winds), we had to park a full 7 minutes away from the building. We brought this up stating that this has become a recurring issue. Our concerns were met with dismissal rather than understanding. Immediately after, our child developed a severe ear infection resulting in temporary hearing loss and antibiotics treatment. Children get sick for all sorts of reasons, but as a parent, this correlation was hard to ignore. So, our kid lost interest in martial arts. When we expressed our decision to leave the school due to these issues, instead of addressing our concerns or taking accountability, we were told to send a handwritten cancellation notice via certified mail 30 days in advance--a clearly designed inconvenience to deter cancellations and extend payment cycles. Ultimately, their practices do not reflect the integrity, discipline, or accountability they claim to teach. If you genuinely seek meaningful martial arts instruction for your child, delivered by people who actually embody these values, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I will say that they've had some turnover with some teachers and similar to many daycares, one of our cups went missing and they could improve on some organizational skills but we are all human and they always keep my baby safe and loved and I know it's a great place because everyday since he's started, he's been excited when we arrived and any question or concern I've ever had, has been addressed timely! They are also super clean and clean the toys and rooms often and have "parents night out" usually once a month which is an awesome way to know your kid is with someone you know and trust and you can have a nice evening out or even at home to yourself! I could say so much more, but all I need to say is, it's a great place. Your child will learn, remain developmentally on target (even early), be loved and cared for, have lots of time outside, and establish friendships!

It's a common story, one that could be avoided by tempering growth until the business has a chance to scale with the increase in business. This maintains product quality while also adapting the methodology to serve more customers. It's a difficult process that many businesses fail to account for, which is why we see once-great businesses close their doors when better options become available. A once-great daycare that has grown to the point where the quality of the education and supervision the kids receive has become substandard. My family has had a long history with Impressionable Years. Once owned by parents, now passed down to their daughter. The parents built this company from the ground up. The population cap was low in those days, and the parent owners were on top of their game. The employees were of high quality, the owners were always there, and the collaboration between the parent and the center was easy, streamlined, and productive. That is no longer the case. My three children went through Impressionable Years, and I lament that my third child did not receive the same standard as my older two did. When dropping my child off, teachers are commonly too busy talking amongst themselves or doomscrolling on their phones. Most teachers won't even look up from their phones when acknowledging your presence. This can only communicate that this practice is tolerated. The feedback you receive from the school will commonly be short-handed and unhelpful. I can forgive this for most things because when you have a class of 20 children, I don't expect a fully articulated essay on my kids' day. This becomes an issue, however, when your child doesn't meet the center's expectations. They will berate you with short-handed comments (that are pre-written) that say your child made terrible choices that day. But here is the main issue with the center: when you push for specifics, you will commonly get the cold shoulder. The owner of the establishment (Courtney) makes high-level decisions and then blames her mother when she knows the outcome will be controversial or is not justifiable given the student handbook. Her Mother handed over the business to her almost 2 years ago. A director who deflects responsibility is a giant red flag. When my child was dismissed from the daycare for "bad behavior," I asked for the video footage so I could see what happened (this was denied). I asked for specifics on what happened, but when Courtney kept deflecting, and I kept pressing her, she hung up on me and then refused to pick up the phone again. If you take nothing else away from this, then highlight this part. If you ask basic questions about your child, they will crash out because you don't buy the narrative that they are giving to you. The reason they can't give you specifics is that your child will not be adequately supervised. The teachers are too busy on their phones, talking on their phones (please count how many ear buds are actively in the ears of the teachers when dropping your kids off), and the center is removed from any responsibility because they can kick your kids at anytime with no notice. There are other problems as well: They commonly send employees home when the student population doesn't justify their presence. Yet, you have to pay full tuition whether your kids show up or not. This is a predatory practice that seeks to maximize profits while causing inconvenience to parents. This little flaw will show itself when they put your kids in a room that is developmentally inappropriate for your child due to "staffing problems," because the room's population didn't meet the standard for them to pay someone to be there all day. Impressionable Years was a great daycare. It is no longer. This is what happens when something is given to someone who doesn't have to earn it. The quality of this place has been run into the ground. And even though the cake you get isn't quite what it used to be, you should, as a parent, ask yourself what you are paying for, and whether the management is competent and coherent in their ability to communicate to parents. All of which this place lacks.

They have an app called Tadpole, but yet the information entered is never correct. They are short-staffed every day and yet most teachers still leave at 4, so unless you can get out of work early to connect and discuss... you simply have no idea what is going on. Kids are constantly placed in rockers and chairs and are left there most of the day. The legal ratio of 3 kids to 1 teacher is rarely followed, in fact, I have seen as many as 10 kids to 2 teachers more times than I can count... We gave them sleep sacks for him to nap in each day, yet they just sat in his cubby. On more than one occasion he was left to sleep in a rocker as he was placed in a room that had no open cribs due to staff shortages... it's just not a good place to leave an infant. We started in January 2024 and there is not a single kid left in the class who was there when we started. To a child, they have all left and gone to other daycares... and now we are too. I wouldn't send my kid here if I were you. We are now 54 days past our last day and have still yet to receive our deposit back from the school. They claim its been mailed, but their by-laws state repayment will be made within 30-45 days and we are well past that... its a joke. Just find a different day care, this place is awful from the top to the bottom.

My wife and I stumbled across Wilde Lake karate and learning center after mindless searching. Everywhere we found was filled, far away, expensive, the timing wasn't right or just plain expensive. The boys have really enjoyed coming here to make friends, learn about karate, play, swim, etc. Everyone has a great attitude and extremely welcoming. The boys come home and are excited to tell us about everything they have learned and it has been much more stimulating than our previous summer care. The price is worth it and everyone is great!

Despite this, he was given only a few days to acclimate before being sent home, briefly allowed back after a meeting, and then dismissed entirely -- without a reasonable adjustment period or meaningful accommodations. His twin sibling was allowed to remain enrolled. During one meeting, the owner, Melvise Powell, yelled at my husband and me and abruptly told us to leave her office. We also became aware that another individual appeared to be listening in via the office phone without our knowledge, which raised serious concerns under Maryland's two-party consent law. When this was pointed out, the meeting was immediately ended and we were ordered out. Additionally, our daughter later reported that an employee would pinch her when she did not nap, which we found extremely alarming and concerning. ADHD is a recognized disability under the ADA, and excluding a child without attempting reasonable accommodations -- combined with unprofessional conduct and concerning reports about staff behavior -- raises serious concerns. Based on our experience, the owner was extremely rude and unprofessional, and families should steer clear of this school!!

Sure, I may be able to get a little cheaper if I have my kids go to a home daycare, but the care that they get here is why I love it. They have cameras in the class so I can always check in on my little ones whenever I want and they give multiple updates a day via the daycare's app so I never feel like I'm missing much. The teachers treat my kids like their own and I truly feel like they love them. If I voice any discomfort or worry, they work with me immediately. You can tell the Director truly has a passion for this job and the kids, and she schedules fun times each season and most holidays to really make you feel like this is more than just a daycare. That teacher disciplined kids almost everyday! I doubt her profession, because kids were reading books alone just before discipline. I knew it was the perfect camp for my son since Camp Jurassic deals with dinosaurs and gemstones, both of which my son loves. The camp staff seem to be very caring of the children and offer plenty of fun activities. My son was excited every day to go to camp (and it was his first time ever going to camp) and after each day he always brought home a variety of projects that they had worked on during the day which varies from an erupting volcano, to an edible volcano, to a dinosaur model, to magnetic gemstones, rock candy, and so much more! My son was thrilled to go on a dinosaur dig where he "discovered" dinosaur bones that they put together. I'm thrilled to discover a camp that challenges my son both mentally (since they do scientific experiments and learning projects) as well as physically when they go outside to play. I've never seen my son so excited about attending anything before and he comes home every day with stories of all the fun he had during the day and all the new things he's learned. I highly recommend this company if you're looking for some place for your child to have a lot of fun as well as learn a lot in the process, since my son can't seem to stop raving about how great of an experience he's had with them!
