"Dad, I want to go back for Father's Day."…read more We had not visited the Adventure Park in 8 years. We are fortunate enough to live 15 minutes from the park. When our daughters were younger it was a go to place for them and their friends. But the girls got older and their interest declined. I'm not sure what motivated my daughter want to go back but I'm glad we did. We went yesterday one day before Father's Day. My daughter chose this day because we went on Father's Day years ago and it was extremely crowded. Good plan. Not too crowded. Great weather too. Our experience we great. The staff was terrific. One downside. I'm 8 years older and I noticed it. So, if you are thinking about visiting don't delay because as the song says: Time Waits for No One.

I have never gone to one of these adventure parks before so for my first time - it was AMAZING !…read more I took my niece who is 9 for her birthday and she had the time of her life - I was seriously impressed by the challenges in the courses and with how bravely she tackled them! We were very high up in those trees! The great thing though is that they have courses for all different types of thrill seekers - if you want to stay low to ground or just zip line, they have courses for that. If you want to physically challenge yourself or you like heights - they have courses for that as well. Safety wasn't a concern as there is an orientation video and then a practice course on the ground so you can repeatedly go through the process of locking on to a line and moving from line to line. I mean my niece did the practice course once and was off into the trees with out issue. There is a nice picnic area with tables so you could easily pack a lunch or snacks and make a day of it. I am eagerly waiting to go back for one of their night time clim

I recently attended a yoga retreat at Pearlstone Center. The meeting room where we practiced was…read morenice, with a window wall overlooking a beautiful view. However, the carpet was filthy, and clearly had not been vacuumed, even though the staff must have known we would spend all our time in that room on the floor. Several of us had immediate allergic reactions to whatever was in the carpet, and I spent the rest of the weekend on benedryl. We stayed in the Fidler's Grove cabins, and I was extremely disappointed with our accommodations. Our "kitchenette with microwave and mini fridge" consisted of a tiny fridge sitting on the floor in the hallway. It was so small we couldn't even fit our water bottles in it. That was it. No microwave, no kitchenette. The room I slept in had no heat, on a night when the temperature dropped into the 20s. We had a difficult time figuring out how to operate the heater because the instructions posted on the wall were not for that particular heating unit. Slats of the mini-blinds were twisted and broken. The sitting area was functional, but depressing. I would call the cabin overall very spartan and barracks-like. We requested a vegetarian menu, which we received. We were also welcome to choose from the buffet. With a couple of notable exceptions, the food ranged from mediocre to inedible, the main problem being that none of the cooked food was actually hot. The hummus that was provided to us as a snack was excellent, as was the whitefish we had with our dinner on Saturday night, but that did not make up for the food that was served to us the rest of the weekend. I won't go back.

Really more than I expected. There is also an organic farm attached to the retreat center with vegetable rows, chickens, ducks, and goats. They served some produce from the farm at a couple of the meals. And the meals were also impressive, with mostly vegetarian options and the occasional high quality meat. And there were always refreshments available for those moments when you need a snack. The conference facilities themselves were also beautiful, from the large open hall on the first floor to the smaller meeting rooms to the ample rocking chairs on the porch around the main building. Not to mention that the center is surrounded by forests, streams, and a pond. Yep, it was epic.
