There are also interactive exhibits and acrobatic/performance shows. There is is ample parking at Koka Booth. Also, the ticket prices are less expensive in person than via the website. If you're trying g to go on a holiday or weekend, you may not want to take a chance. However, we save about $15 for three tickets buying in person for a Tuesday night in January. This year, I overheard someone say, "It's like walking through Avatar." I think that's a perfect description!

I love this festival…read more The fact there is an NC based festival that focuses on local vendors and creators is such a wonderful idea! I went to the sip and shop area where you can get an alcoholic drink and wander around. I got to sample so many amazing local foods, sauces, and sweets. I walked out of that place work so much stuff! Then the agriculture center has livestock and learning experiences for the little ones. This festival is definitely a must try if you've never been!

It's been really neat to see Village of Drekheim move into its new space as the festival continues to grow. They offer two weekends now in the spring and Yuletide Experience in winter. There is camping available and they have an academy weekend if you want to fully emerge yourself in the experience. You'll see lots of great outfits, they have demonstrations (fighting, food, iron forging, dancing, etc), they have great vendors, animals rescues, and everywhere you turn there is something new to experience. This year I was particularly drawn to the Vikings of Scotland and the Wildefell Wolves. But I always love getting to see some familiar faces at CLAWS, Inc, and learning about the Norwegian Lundehund. Also on the property, Goshen Haven Farm is currently under development. They plan to use the land for educational purposes and breed preservation. Their website says they are going to have bees, chickens, sheep and goats, to be incorporated into the festival, educational programs and farm products.

What I did not expect was that this was literally in the middle of no where. Like, I had to drive a mile down the road to get cell reception. It was a little disconcerting but overall it was a fun time. If you have never been, be prepared for a lot of walking. You will encounter people dressed in costume (some of the outfits are AMAZING!), a lot of vendors selling handmade items, a lot of "stage" shows (and shows in general) and a lot of different foods. You will feel as if you've been transported to a different time or a different realm. Everyone we met was so kind and helpful. We got some food, got to be "held" by falcons, and got some fairy hair. It was a fun experience :)

There's a festival map that indicates where each of the soundstages are and gives playing times of the scheduled performances. They really do a great job of representing the many varieties of music that thrive in our local scene -- rock, blues, jazz, folk, celtic, bluegrass, :new:grass, indie power pop, etc. As street fairs go, this one seems a little less organized (could definitely do with some food and drink vendors). Bring blankets or tote-able chairs if you plan on spending the day, so you have some comfortable seating!

We absolutely enjoy the fair!…read more Going to the fair is easy- buy your tickets online- it's free to park. We parked in the field on Edwards Mill- buses came every 5 minutes- very comfortable! Friendly drivers. We got dropped at the gate- then enjoyed ourselves- We didn't ride any rides - way too expensive (giant slide $7) unbelievable. The food was so pricey- one sausage $18 - lol - eat before you come (and bring snacks) Seeing all the shows and all the vendors- so much fun!

The garden/flower area was beautiful and they had some volunteers stationed to take your picture. "The Art of Bonsai" demonstration courtesy of the Triangle Bonsai Society my favorite activity this year. It was awesome to learn (and see) how Bonsai trees are raised.

Having gone to the Eno Festival two years in a row now I can say this will hopefully become an…read moreannual tradition for me. I have had an absolute blast both times. Luckily I missed any sweltering heat. This past year I went on Day 2 and danced to live African music, salsa, bluegrass, and a New Orleans brass band. I also hula-hooped, ate Jamaican patties, walked down to the river, listened to an amazing ukulele cover band, watched sand artists in action, and toured a working grist mill - all in 4 hours. Don't be deterred by the off-site parking and shuttle system. It works very well. My only suggestions to the festival organizers would be to improve the quantity and quality of the food offerings. There are not many choices at all, resulting in long lines and high prices. In 2013 there was an arepa vendor, but he was not there this year, so I went with Jamaica Jamaica instead, which was a decent value, and I brought an apple and some water with me. I would like to see an NC brewery in the beer area rather than Sweetwater. But it's really not necessary to get your drink on here. Just enjoy the nature and the positive vibes of the musicians, artists, and crowd.

Wonderful, small farm light show venue…read more The light tunnel at the entrance is the best display I saw all year. You are surrounded by lights and a slow moving line. The sensation is one usually saved for theme parks. Your car is being transported into another world. There is a live Santa at the end of the light show. The festival is ideal for mature audiences and individuals with small children, as both groups are easily entertained by flying objects in close proximity. The festival organizers to do a great job of: 1. Attracting attendees from a broad age group, including adults interested in testing their latest custom made kite and families with small children looking for cheap entertainment. 2. Providing simple entertainment at a great price. The festival is free, and held near Bond Lake. I usually bike to the festival, watch for about 20 minutes, and continue another hour or so of biking utilizing Cary's numerous and convenient bike trails into Bond Park. 3. Scheduling the event during the perfect time of year. March in the Carolina's isn't good for much other than unpredictable weather which includes mostly rainy, overcast days. The Kite Festival provides a great alternative activity for those hoping to break free from the Ides of March to have an easy day of fun. If I were a rich girl, I'd improve the festival by: 1. Publicizing the festival more...I stumbled across the kite festival on the Town of Cary website. Cary serves as a hodge-podge of international flair. I'd like to see festival organizers encourage participants to display some personification and multi-cultural pride on their kites. 2. Inviting some food trucks. A captive audience for three hours provides the perfect audience for a food truck or two!
