When you belong to the Campio club, once in a while you get some good offers. (You can join for free online). Recently they had a deal, buy one main meal and get one free. I jumped on the chance because I love the pizzas here. They have a soft doughy crust. So we ventured here for lunch. It wasn't too full, and it took a while for someone to notice and get us seated. We actually debated leaving, however finally they seated us, it was all good. (Hence why it looses a star). Atmosphere is pretty typical for a craft brewery. I am not a huge sports bar fan, and I was pleased to see that TVs were not a focus here. Menu is good. Lots of different things to try, but they are well known for their pizzas. Great selection of beers. Also an okay selection of cocktails and wine. I am on medication, so I tried a "near beer" can that they offered and I was pleased with the flavour. I wish they would have a non alcoholic that is more local on tap. Hubby because of driving went with a coke. We decided on two pizzas - PB & J which contained roasted pineapple, smoked bacon, fresh jalapeño, mozzarella, brick blend and the Animal Style -Ezzo pepperoni, seasoned beef, bacon, pizza sauce, crushed chilis, Grana Padano. Both came out hot and fresh and tasty. I enjoyed my toppings better, however my husband's pizza sauce was absolutely perfect. Service (once we were seated) was pleasant. We received some chocolate dipped strawberries as a customer appreciation gift and that was lovely. My goal is to try all the pizzas. Give it a go if you like Detroit style pizzas. read more

The brewpub has certainly been seeing its time in the sun for several years now with the popularity of microbreweries reaching its peak. Edmonton is no different than anywhere else in the fact that our restaurantscape has been dotted with more and more local breweries - which is cool and all - but the part that has caught my attention is the elevation and refinement that has also evolved. Gone are the days when the average pub is slinging a beer in your general direction and calling it a day. Now there are chefs involved, complete dining programs, and entire concepts. It's more than just a boozy good time (but it's also still that). One of the standouts in this game is Campio Brewing Co., which first opened its doors in 2018 and have since expanded to a second location. In a previous life the original restaurant operated as Characters Fine Dining for twenty some years, which is why the space might feel familiar. (I remember dining at Characters in my 20s and believing that it was the height of luxury.) Voted Best Brewpub 2025 by EDify Magazine, Campio has positioned itself as a reliable standby when it comes to beers and eats Downtown, and they ain't slowing down anytime soon. I visited on a Monday evening, only half realizing that it was also an Oilers home game night. At only a seven minute walk away from Rogers Place, you can be sure that the place will be positively packed with jersey-wearing fans, the majority of which who are grabbing a bite before gametime. This was absolutely the case during my visit, and while it was crowded there's something about the buzz of a hockey night that feels pretty special. Peering through the sea of blue and orange in the main dining area, it was clear that tables were at a premium. I had no idea that there was additional seating downstairs but quickly learned as the hostess lead the way down the stairs. The basement appears to be the brewery itself, lined with fermentation tanks and wooden aging barrels. The picnic-style tables are communal. While it's not as nice as upstairs and certainly feels like an overflow area, it is kind of neat to be sitting where all of the brewery magic happens. (Think of when you try to go camping but the campground is already full, so they just stick you in a big empty field with the rest of the extras.) The main upstairs dining area is expansive, rich in wood, and feels historic. You'll find exposed brick and the same epic wooden pillars that exist in many of the old buildings downtown. But the best table in the entire restaurant? That would be the elevator shaft room - now converted into a small dining area. The elevator buttons are still on the wall! Our server was super personable and friendly, genuinely seeming like she was having a good time. Campio is obviously known for their 16 rotating craft beers on draft brewed right in the restaurant itself. They also sell their beer in cans (covered in beautiful artwork) which can be found in liquor stores everywhere, as well as offsale at the brewery itself. My husband is a big fan of their seasonal Once in Oaxaca (a prickly pear horchata sour). I, myself, am not much of a beer drinker so I was pleased to find a list of house cocktails to choose from - way more my jam. The Iced Edmonton Fog (Baileys, Cointreau, Amaretto, walnut bitters, earl grey tea - $14.50) sounded really delicious and fun. (They also make beer cocktails!) The flavour profile of this drink is right up my alley! The combination of almond, walnut and earl grey sounds cozy and delicious! However, I found that I wanted even more flavour from each sip. The beverage tasted quite watered down and could've been more full-bodied. It did remind me a lot of a paralyzer though, which I was not mad at. The main concept at Campio is to fuse Edmonton's blue-collar nature and artistic flair into one, serving up whimsy and quality with diverse offerings. I do think that this shows a clear understanding of the clientele in this city and it points toward Campio's success. The menu is fresh, playful, and approachable, offering the kind of food that people actually want to eat in a brewpub today. They've got Fried Pepperoni (With honey mustard - $9.00) on the snacks part of the menu and I'm not one to refuse! A Halifax stable, Edmonton and this Maritime city seem to have a lot in common when it comes to cuisine (RE: the donair). Sliced paper-thin, each ruby-hued round is crispy like a chip. You could easily toss about 20 of these into your mouth and barely notice. I liked the tangy honey mustard to dip into. This dish is like the best part of a pizza without all of the unnecessary rest of it. I'd happily start my meal with these every time! A casual atmosphere, their beer list is expansive and always delivers. For food, there is a nice mix of bar items and more substantial options. We went here to start the night, the establishment was packed so we went to check out the outdoor seating, and it has to be the largest outdoor seating area I've ever seen. Now we were out there about 15-20 min and just got our drinks and nachos when we got attacked by a massive swarm of no-see-ums which after about 5 minutes of trying to tough it out we surrendered and ran inside. ( the extra protein was uncalled for) so inside we finished our beverages munched on some nachos and proceeded to our next stop. I wish I would have known about this fun spot earlier. We visited here after a work function, the vibe is industrial and fun. The pizzas are SO good. I personally love the PBJ (pineapple, bacon & jalapeño!) and the Sydney to Halifax (I think that's what it's called the Donair pizza!) I literally brought my husband back days later to eat there, he's a beer drinker so he appreciated the different beer selections. The deep dish pizza at this spot is to die for. If you're a mushroom lover, get the Forager; if you like a little crisp on your pizza, get the Smokeshow. My friend and I shared a Sampler of beers and it was more than enough for the two of us. My personal favourite was the Babe Tangerine Dream which was a nice orangey flavour, almost like mimosas. I also really liked the Ube Stout, it was a really unique flavour - but I don't think I'd enjoy a full pint of it. The server we had was very friendly and offered samples for my friends that were ordering full pints so they could ensure they liked the beer they ordered. We came here with some out of town friends for what we thought was going to be lunch. It was Saturday at noon but we didn't realize that they don't serve lunch on the weekends. They only had brunch available until 2:00pm. It was a tad disappointing as we really wanted to try some of their lunch menu items. But nonetheless we ordered some brunch menu items. We came with 3 kids aged 5, 6, 7. As I had heard that this was a kid friendly restaurant. Well they didn't have any kid menu or items on the menu that would be somewhat kid friendly. Luckily the server asked her manager and they did say that they would be able to make a kids grilled cheese with tater tots to accommodate the kids. We ended up ordering this and my daughter loved it. The sourdough bread for the Mac and cheese was a hit and the tater tots were also well received by all the kids. The other two girls ordered the French toast but it came with 3 pieces of toast so it was massive. Needless to say they definitely could have shared this dish. I wish our server would have told us this. They also don't have much for juice selection, just orange juice or pop, beer, coffee or water. The French toast was delicious, came topped with caramelized bananas, caramel, and whipped cream. For the adults, we ordered the short ribs and eggs platter. It came with a bit of salad, tater tots, 2 slices of sourdough toast, 2 crispy fried, sunny side up eggs, and a very small portion of short ribs meat. It was all very tasty and filling. A very good portion size with all the food. My friend ordered the pizza and she was impressed with the deep dish size. She said there was a ton of cheese on the pizza but it had good flavour and the crispy bits were delicious. Overall, it was great food, ok service, but not sure that I would come back here with my kids again. I would definitely try coming not during brunch hours next time as I really wanted to try some of their other regular menu items. But glad that it wasn't a complete fail. Our bill with 2 orders of short ribs with eggs, 1 kids grilled cheese, 1 French toast, 1 orange juice, and 1 coffee came to around $85. Oh and also, I know they normally have free parking here as well bur this time we came they had expanded their patio to cover the entire parking lot! This place is amazing. I went over happy hour, (which is 4-6 PM, a great time) and it was quick to get in. The place had the Olympics playing and was a sweet, jolly environment. Our server showed up quickly and was pretty sweet guy! I ordered ice tea and my Mom ordered her own beverage, and they were as good as they should be. In better terms: Delicious. Side note: the server came at reasonable times to check for refills, which was good detail. Then, for an appetizer, we ordered pickle chips (yummy, seasoned, crunchy pickles, like chips!) now, keep in mind it was happy hour. The portion of these chips was beyond appetizer and happy hour, amazing, amazing, portion. After finishing that, we ordered our supper. I ordered wings (Spicy Korean). It came. Came here to watch the hockey game on Tuesday and to enjoy some beers. The place was busy but had room from some more patrons. We parked in the parking lot right beside Campio. No hostess or anyone told us we had to scan the QR code to sign your vehicle in. That could be better labeled or discussed for new customers. However, I did ask our server and she told me about it. We were seated quickly and our server popped over quickly too. We decided to order a sampler of beers. I love sour beers and these did not disappoint. This place has a great vibe. Tuesday happy hour is until 6pm so also another bonus we arrived at 515pm and were able to still get happy hour snacks and drinks We ordered bbq chicken wings, kettle chips, and I tried the Korean chicken burger. Came here to look at the art for edmonton spark installation. Very cool and a good excuse to ramble around downtown. This was a great stop for a drink and a snack. I ordered the ube purple stout. It was a decent beer, but not quite to my taste. It did fit the bill as refreshing on a hot day. To snack on I went for sweet potato fries. These were good. Figured I'd stop here, since it was the last art piece on my trip. They have a nice patio, a center bar and spacious inside. I grabbed the Czech pint. I ended up getting Carpaccio appetizer. Alberta beef, beer mustard aioli, arugula, pickled wild saskatoons, crispy capers, aged gouda, sour dough slices on side was the description. I asked the bartender what I was getting into and I thought it was a sanwich. In reality it was a flat thin meat disk with the greens and all the toppings on it. While strange, it was actually really good! A bit big to be an appetizer in my opinion. I would absolutely go back. Prices are a bit higher. Looks like a fancy eatery. read more

Patio! Amazing Patio! Located right downtown with a big lot that opens as a patio. I ordered the falafel burger with a side of fries. The burger in its core was delicious. However, they did add too much of the cream sauce. I had to remove most of it cause it was overwhelming. The service is great here, super friendly and quick. The Korean sweet and spicy wings are really tasty. They use a Korean chilli paste called gochujang which I grew up eating but this is the first time I've had them on wings and I'll never go back!!! I usually try a new beer whenever I come here cuz why not?!? My favorites so far are the Tropical Pyramid Hazy IPA and Obrewsky's Pilsner. I love a good side especially fries and it was perfectly cooked. It was not soggy nor oily and i rarely finish the fries when i order a sandwich but i did. The happy hour wings were also yum. First time visiting this establishment with my husband and son. We were greeted cheerfully by a gentleman inside the restaurant who offered sanitizer and had us "sign in" for contact tracing purposes. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, inside dining was not allowed at the time so we were seated at one of their picnic tables situated in the parking lot. We just missed the sunshine as it dipped below the brown building across the street so we found it uncomfortably cold without any heaters nearby. Ordered a cocktail (forgot the name) but it was just okay. Also ordered their nachos with added short ribs and guacamole. Although they looked impressive upon arrival, we found them just okay. The corn was hard and tasted cardboard-like. The short rib was nothing to rave over and almost wasn't required. It is a very large portion so best to share with more than 2 people IMO. Campio Brewing is 100% my favorite new restaurant of 2020. They've only been around for about 1 year but their service and quality has blown me away! I've visited Campio once before the pandemic and a few times after. Since the beginning of the pandemic Campio has been one of the best establishments for safety. They take your information at the door to make sure that if there is a case of COVID, everyone can be notified if they were potentially in contact. During the summer Campio also took over the parking lot beside their building and created a huge outdoor patio. Great for social distancing! Pizza has been a huge thing here in Edmonton since the start of the pandemic. Pizza is a great concept for take home orders and I have to say that Campio has the BEST pizza in the city. They make deep dish pizza, but as you can tell from my pictures... it has an fantastic cheese to crust ratio! Plus the topping combinations are gold. The forager is hands down my favorite pizza. Also the pizza is super filling! Share 1 with another person or be prepared to have leftovers. Or if you're like me... you'll end up eating the leftovers as soon as you get home. Down to the beer. Campio brewing co offers a variety of beers and food. Atmosphere is fun and lively. They have tons of TV's and even a large projector screen in the patio to watch sports. Parking was a bit difficult when we went as it was busy and the parking lot was full. There is parking on the streets that is free after 6 pm though (it was also full when we went though). Food was decent. We ordered the bbq chicken pizza, OG pepperoni pizza, fries and korean wings. Fries were not my favourite. Korean wings were pretty salty. We had a hard time finishing that. Possibly need to add something to cut the saltiness of the korean sauce. The pizzas were pretty good. Really enjoyed the bbq chicken pizza. Good amount of toppings. Nice soft dough. OG pepperoni was okay. Nothing special in my opinion. But if you like pepperoni pizza it's worth a try. The beer was good! We ordered the sampler. Comes with 6 different types of beers. I have the parking app for downtown Edmonton, and I will use this review to recommend it insofar as I was here for lunch, parked a half-block away, clicked into the app and entered the four-digit number on the sign easily visible from where I parked and went on my merry way needing only to click it again on return, and it cost me 2.18. I felt like a thrifty tech genius of the sort who gets to park curbside anywhere. Get that app! So, pizza and beer. It was a beautiful day and my companion snagged us a table in the lower patio. I had the premium lager, and my companion had the sour IPA; she insisted that I try it, and I would definitely follow her lead in a future visit. Server brought water without request for it, which was fine given the sun was blasting down with that special Prairie power, slightly tempered by wildfire smokie. Pizza took a fair amount of time but that's fine too as who wants a soggy deep dish? These pizzas are the perfect size for two to share at lunch. We had the OG 2.0, which was my choice as I was just not feeling very adventurous. Maybe I would have done better to adventure a bit for a 27 dollar 2-person pizza? According to the menu, the OG 2.0 is made with Ezzo pepperoni, mozzarella, brick cheese, and Campio pizza sauce. If this is Campio's brand of pizza sauce, I'm afraid I'm not lured out of little Italy just yet. It seemed pretty bland to me, the whole enterprise. The pepperoni was charred a bit beyond crisp (it was crunchy), and any worries I might have had about soggy deep dish were cast aside -- the crust was indeed crusty and brown/black, with the dough itself cooked to not quite overall death but yes in some areas powdery. It was at this point that I decided to really concentrate on the social aspect of this outing, since the food aspect was not really going to pay off. And a good thing, too, since once we had food we were left on our own for quite a long time, with topups of water from other staff. Our server returned when we signaled to pay, once we saw her again. And that was fine too; the place was pretty busy overall. Again, it was a beautiful day, and I had sunscreened up. We watched as some potted florals were delivered through the patio gate next to us, presumably ready to serve as outdoor decor, which will no doubt really spruce up the relatively bare lower patio. This space will be awesome to visit during Taste, with Churchill just a short walk away down 102 Ave, We left and I dropped off my companion at her office; she had been the one to recommend the parking app so we both marveled at that. I had a really good experience here. I attended an appreciation night for the Holiday Hamper program! Campio took really great care of us. We got to sample some of their food - the fried pickles are awesome, and try some of their beer. The service was awesome. Our little event took place in the basement, where they have a room for private parties. You also get a great view of the brewery area itself. Our server was very friendly, and she made sure the entire event was running smoothly from what I saw! I tried the "Decade of Darkness" Stout. It was unbelievable! I can be a stout snob but this did not disappoint. I would absolutely come back again. They have crazy deals on Oilers game nights. We had the lager and Pilsner beer and both we recommend. Also had a flight and all the beer was not bad. You know some craft beer can be super overpowering but the case here. Great beer! Awesome spot! Love the food and the beer! The pizza is Detroit style deep dish and greasy awesome. I would say some of the best in town. Love the beer, the AlbeetaSourus Rex is a nice red beer that's a bit sour and kills it. The cocktails on tap are really well made and tasty too. Can't say enough about this place.
