The whole process of buying/trading in/financing our new camper ended up feeling like a bad used car experience. The numbers they show on their website are no where near realistic (so a total bate and switch) and then when we started talking trade in, they swung from $3K to $6.5K (without seeing the camper) and just with the sales guy going back and forth to his manager 3x. Then there is the hard sale for the "extended warranties and extra coverages" - nice finance guy, keeps you focused on his cool stories (read the fine print before you sign). They ran hard credit inquiries before ever even talking to a bank, then ran multiple additional ones with multiple banks (and we had a score in the mid 800's. Then the service walk through: 1) didn't walk through setting up the back-up camera (said they couldn't at the dealership... but I was able to at the McDonalds next door), 2) left major amounts of construction debris in all the compartments (didn't clean so chips of aluminum and saw dust all over the inside), 3) didn't hook the battery up correctly so the solar charge controller wasn't working and was actually too hot to touch (red wires go to positive and black to ground), and 4) when I called back to say these things were issues and I wanted to take it to a different location to resolve, they said "go ahead, but we can't help you with that". CHECK EVERYTHING TO YOUR SATISFACTION (OR IN WRITING) BEFORE YOU LEAVE THEIR LOT. Then after driving home, we noticed the black tank valves were leaking. So brought it into their service department. After two week sand three phone calls was told - "Forest River denied the warranty claim... do you have our extended warranty?" - which we did purchase, so that apparently means this brand new, broken valve will get fixed before our second use. Out of 3 weeks, we've only had it in our possession for 5 days. As they were fond of telling us, they own 60% of the market, they apparently don't have to be customer oriented. This was the first time I ever felt like I was taken advantage of because of my age. We bought it and are now stuck with the situation, hope they don't get you too. I'm sure this review will get the old "so sorry you had a bad experience, please reach out to our senior management we we'll help resolve it." response. IDK. This was our 4th camper purchase over 20+ years. WILL NOT GO WITH THEM EVER AGAIN. read more

Please be careful when selling your Rv with camping world. My 70 year old mom had the worst experience. Riley listed my mom's fifth wheel and said he would lower the price in our contract and he never lowered the online price but my mom lowered her price. Then come to find out he had her fifth wheel pending for over 15 days. My mom sold it to camping world for dirt cheap and now it's no where to be found.They are a very sketchy place and he had no sympathy or concern for his actions. Needed to sell our 2012 Cougar 5th wheel. Riley said on the phone it was probably worth $10,000. He came out and inspected it and later texted his concerns that there was some delamination on outside back wall ( no water detected, nor had we ever had any moisture issues). Also, one slide out needed a cable adjustment , (again, we had never had an issue with it). Due to his concerns, he now offered us $7,900. We reluctantly agreed as we were purchasing a new truck and no longer used the rv.. We made arrangements for him to pick it up as we live less than 10 miles from the Monticello dealership. Once there, we waited about one hour when he finally ushered into his office. I gave him my id and the title. This is where my fears were realized. Riley disappears and in comes Zach who now informs us there is a small hole in the roof and they will give us only $2,000 for it. Talk about misleading us. Our unit is very clean with all major systems working. We immediately left with our papers feeling they had been very shady with us. Attending the Camping World Camper Show in Minneapolis; we found a camper we wanted. After signing paperwork, we were told the printer wasn't working, and we couldn't get a copy until the following week. The advertised price was $26,999, but things quickly went downhill. Working with Brent and Zach from the Monticello, MN Camping World location, we were informed that we owed over $20,000. This was incorrect since we had a $10,000 trade-in and $4,000 down payment. $26,999 - $10,000-$4,000 = $12,999 + tax. Arriving for the walk-through, the price became $33,499. We did not agree to this cost as correct. I had taken pictures at the show, for proof. Brett didn't seem to have answers and continued to look for our paperwork from the show...then, it mysteriously surfaced. After Brett's much shuffling of the paperwork, he added in a service agreement for $3,600, which was originally included; but not anymore. To make matters worse, we were misled about the loan term being 60 months, but it turned out to be 17 years! The numbers also didn't add up; and further reviewing the paperwork, we realized the taxes were based on the incorrect amount of $33,499. After reporting this mess in more detail to the Camping World headquarters; the original loan was scrapped and we were allowed to go through our own bank, without the extra unknown "fluff." BUYER BEWARE, efforts are made to finagle you to sign over to Camping World a POWER OF ATTORNEY. Overall, a stressful and frustrating experience with misleading prices and terms. service stinks and even a little crooked. I took my trailer in a year before last to get the brakes worked on, and to investigate a "clunk" on my hitch. When I got it back, full brakes on the trailer would not stop a coast... service rep told me that was normal and the way it was supposed to be (no matter what the instructions for adjusting the electronic brake control said). I asked them if they checked the wiring connector on my vehicle, he gave me a lame half-excuse that it was not included in the service.... despite me specifically asking them to verify the wiring to the vehicle when I dropped it off. He did take the time to get pictures of my rubber roof to try to sell me a re-roofing job... it was fine, he was just a crook. I asked about the clunk I wanted them to look at, he tried to blow it off as a common clunk of slop in the ball to hitch... I made a stink and had to demonstrate that the ball WAS ACTUALLY LOOSE causing the clunk. He had the tech come out and tighten it. I doubt they even did anything to the trailer. I tried to talk to the service manager, but exchanged a few email, but she didn't seem to care. The reason for my review is when I took the time to check my brakes, ONLY ONE OUT OF THE 4 WAS WORKING. THEY DIDN"T EVEN CHECK THE BRAKES, only put new shoes on it. Given that brakes are a pretty important part of safety, I would expect they wouldn't be so half-ass'd about it, but they definitely were. If you have something important to be worked on, don't go here. read more

The service department and Zach, the store manager, need to learn a lesson in customer service. I recently purchased a 5th wheel at an RV show but had to pick it up at this store in Monticello. Before I picked it up, I had them install two slide toppers in March of 2024. First time out camping with the new unit, the topper on the large slide pulled out of it's bracket. When I called to ask what can be done about it, they offered no help what so ever. I was even willing to take it back to their store which is a 2 hour drive but they wanted nothing to do with it. No warranty, no nothing. They would not even consider that fact that it might be their fault and installed it wrong. Personally, I think they wound the spring too tight. So, I took it to another Camping World where I live in WI. The Eau Claire service department contacted the Monticello, MN store and still, they offered no help, nor did they even offer the WI store to pay for the repair. The Eau Claire store contacted the district office in order to get the repair completed The Eau Claire, WI Camping World went above and beyond to repair the slide topper and didn't even charge me for it. Cuddo's to Eau Claire, booooooooooo for Monticello. It's hard to believe that the same corporate store, in two different states could be so different in their management styles. If this incident had cost me any out of pocket expenses, I would also be writing to the BBB and to Consumer Affairs! Very bad experience. read more

We purchased our motorhome on 9/13/24. Once we got home, we found the auto levelers and the awning didn't work. We had to drive back to Monticello and Zack looked at it and was able to get them working. Three week later, I was looking at the loan paperwork and saw the total due, which included warranty charges and other items from Good Sams. I know we accepted those charges, but the total amount was never shown to us and when we were signing papers, it was sign here, initial here. That was our fault for not looking at the total amounts. I then called Camping World and told them that I no longer wanted the warranty. At this time, we only had six days to cancel. I was told that there was paperwork that needed to be signed. And funny how no one would return my call to set up an appointment. I finally contacted another Camping World and told him what was going on so he contacted Camping World Monticello. He did let me know that someone would call me back. That didn't happen so I sent a email letting them know what time I would be there to sign off. I was told that it would take six months to get MY money returned. So the next weekend I was looking at the original cost of the motor home and the loan documents. They overcharged us $4,995. I again called the dealer to let them know and they had to pull my paperwork. I waited a few hours and still no return call. So I called again and of course, no one in finance was available to take my call. I was asked if I wanted to leave a message. I left a message saying that my next phone call was to to be to a lawyer. My phone call was returned and that is when I was told there was a overcharge of $4,995. Total shit show. Stay away from Monticello Camping World! read more

We came to this location in January of 2024 to buy a used camper. We took it home and when we were finally able to try it out there was quite a significant issue. It took a few calls to get someone to call us back to discuss a resolution plan but once contact was established they had us back, took back the camper, and helped us into a new unit without issues. Their sales team is very nice and works with you to find the unit you are looking for. The finance department is also very nice, they do have a job to do and have a lengthy sales pitch for upgrades, although it takes a few hours it was a pretty easy process. We appreciate the team and their willingness to make a bad situation right. We can't wait to get out there and start using our new camper. Thanks again! read more

If I could give a zero I absolutely would! They seemed like a great place when it came to buying a camper but the second you need repairs or anything after purchase, GOOD LUCK!! We brought our camper in for hail damage repair which was covered under my insurance claim, and they did not repair the propane cover, storage latch and a level along a propane regulator recall. Seems like little things right!? Well...It has now been a year since the repair, and we still have yet to get those "Little things" There have been constant emails and phone calls saying they will "CHECK INTO IT AND GET BACK TO ME" which they NEVER get back to me. They screen their phone calls to avoid dealing with their lack of efforts of fixing issues for customers. Which even our outdoor kitchen door does not open nor shut right since they fixed it, but I'm over dealing with this company! Never going back and would not recommend to my worst enemy! I did file a claim with the BBB finally, waiting on their response now. read more

We bought a 32 foot Thor Freedom Elite Class C from Camping World in April 2017. We then left Minnesota for eight months and traveled around the country spending time in 22 states and 52 RV Parks. Of course we had some warranty issues when we returned in late March 2018, but the people at Camping World of Monticello Minnesota fixed our rig absolutely perfectly! Matt Farmerie and Travis Manske in the service and parts department are super friendly, easy to work with and great at customer advocacy! Camping World's policies have been very fair to us and have helped us make camping a super important and enjoyable part of our lives! Everyone we have been in contact with at Camping World of Monticello has been great to work with!!! Would give zero stars if it was an option. Drove almost an hour to specifically purchase 2 king size RV mattresses. When we walked in there was 3 women standing at the front desk and one sitting in an office. They all looked directly at us and said absolutely nothing. We found what we were looking for without any assistance and still zero acknowledgment. I grabbed a mattress topper to ask some questions about it since there was no info on the box. By now there were 4 women standing at the desk. I stood there with the box for a few moments so I didn't interrupt their conversation. One of the women looked at me and said nothing. RV did show up, someone at CW left the skylight open, damage to mattress, snow and ice and road debris. Sales manager said yes to $500 reimburse no conditions other than receipt and I have 2nd employee sent email stating same. Great service and great people at this Camping World! I'm really impressed by their knowledge and great service. Thanks to Camping World in Monticello, our trip was perfect! FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm not a camper. I'm not outdoorsy. I'm a California girl who LOVES a good hotel. But in the spirit of the Great American Family Trip -- we flew to Minnesota to spend time with our daughter, determined to hit the road in an RV. LET'S DO THIS!!! But first, we needed to get this beast thoroughly checked out. Our cousin loaned us his RV, which we quickly dubbed "THE MONSTER." I looked up some local places, and found Camping World in Monticello. I was a little hesitant to come here for service. Lots of reviews say the service department is problematic. And while the advisors were busy, they made us a priority. The Monster was thoroughly inspected, and only had a few minor issues, which were handled on time and in the correct price range. Very helpful people too. Austin and Matt were awesome! They walked us through everything and answered any questions we had. (And I had a bunch of dumb ones because I had never been on a vacation on wheels). They genuinely wanted to help us novice campers. The atmosphere of the store was nice and welcoming. Coffee and popcorn are offered in the customer lounge. My only *tiny* issue would be the lack of clear signage to show which area is parts and which is service, but a staff member led me to the correct area. (And this is barely a complaint, because, popcorn). I came in expecting to be less than satisfied, and trepidatious about RV'ing in general. I am happy to say my expectations were exceeded and service was excellent. Best of all -- THE MONSTER WAS READY FOR THE ROAD! I will be telling my friends about my positive experience, and if we ever do this again, I will be back. We had an excellent family vacation! (I still love hotels, though. Sorry, Monster). read more

This place Is a Joke from the start to finish. I was looking to buying a rig from them but was in a different location from the Monticello location. Talked with salesman and he said they would get it transferred from their other store. He informed me that I would have to put down a $2500 deposit fully refundable. I spoke with salesman and explained I found the same unit New for 20k less and would like best price. He then had his manager call me we worked out a purchase price I was happy with. The following day I asked the salesman to send me what the purchase price looked like on paper, and he did. Purchase price was spot on the down payment of 28,493 was agreed Apon with his manager's signature. I then text salesman to send me a purchase order for the unit so I could send to my bank for financing, he replies with ok no problem. next day I received a phone call from salesman stating that using their financing was part of them giving me a better price on the unit. This was not the case and was not a topic I spoke with anyone about. Well now I have a deposit on the unit and My family really loved it, I decided I would just use them for the financing and filled out the online app. Days later I receive a call say saying the unit is ready and we have a schedule for financing for you on Saturday at 11am. Thought this was strange as I never got a call to talk terms or anything of that nature. Well as weird as this was all going my family and I went to the meeting sat. When we arrived to look at the unit for the first time it was a huge disappointment. They told me the reason we had to wait a week to come see it was because they had to make sure it was up to their standers, well first thing I notice is the holes in the side of the stairwell where the fire extinguisher was supposed to be. A couple other minor thing witch I understood being a used unit. The outside walk-through starts i ask if we can start up the generator and was told it has to have a 1/4 tag a fuel to run and he had to get the keys to check, which he did, and it was under a 1/4 tank. I was told it just got all fluids changed and runs great. This is when I climbed under the unit to look at the plug on generator to look for signs of a fresh oil change, well that was impossible as the plug was dirty with road grime and no sign of fresh oil change. After walking around unit i found 2 locations to fill Deisel fuel and asked what they both where for no clue he said. After further investigation found out it has 2 fuel tanks, one for truck and one for generator. Last but not least after walk through with the guy that knew nothing and lied about what was done, he brings us back to are financing meeting waiting room, I asked him if he could find salesman, I have lots of questions before we say yes to buying the unit. 20 min later nobody came back so I went and found the salesmen at his desk, I asked him didn't that gentlemen tell you I had questions before I purchase the unit? No sorry sir he didn't. Now the best part walks me back in financing guys office, still haven't figured out warranty with the unit. First thing he does is ask me to sign paperwork before going over anything with me. I will skip to the end, He asked me how i was paying the 40k down payment I responded well that's not what we agreed on. The salesmen and manager never had any communication to him i would guess as we already had a number for that. They pointed fingers. I told them they are cooks and left. Still haven't got my deposit back and I am filling a complaint with the Attorney General Long story short this place is Joke don't waste your time like I did. read more

Camping World has a policy to charge the purchasing customer for the inspection and fixing of the camper trailer they want to buy. Seems crazy, doesn't it? The problem is, they do a poor job fixing and they refuse to do those repairs once you leave the lot. Will never buy a roll of TP from them again. We have a long list of items that need fixing but after paying premium price, they refuse. One big thing they told us they never sell anything with hail damage. I was raining cats and dogs, no hail though, when we picked up our trailer. When we got home and it quit raining, my husband got up on a ladder. Whole top of trailer was dented from hail- who collected the insurance on that?? We feel ripped off, crooked people work there. read more

DO NOT EVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE!!! My boyfriend and I went to look at RV's and asked them to NOT run his credit as we were not interested in anything. They did anyway! Sent his info to 8 different banks and tied up his credit so bad that when we did find an RV from another place he couldn't get a loan for over 30 days because it appeared to his bank that he was trying to buy two RV's at once. Also be aware that Camping World/Gander Mountain will charge you ridiculous fees for everything such as restocking fees to bring in another camper after you purchase one of theirs, batteries cause they don't provide them, inspection fees for inspecting their own damn Campers, etc...... Darrin was so patient, accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable helping us buy our first RV @ retirement age. We will be back when we upgrade. We even received an autographed photo from his prodays. Jason(the service rep) was super in every aspect when teaching us how to operate our new camper. He had to repeat tech things multiple times due to my age and memory and did so with respect and kindness. Absolutely horrible experience, from pushy finance member upset that we were out of town and unavailable to sign and he couldn't get his numbers in for the month or the lies about the finance company wants all the extra insurances and coatings to provide the loan to ensure I take care of the trailer, to a flat battery on a brand new camper so we had to wait an hour for the mechanic to show up then charge the battery to connect to the truck in camping word's parking lot , to a busted sewer drain cap that I had to point out to a damaged electrical connection on the front of the camper and when we drove 15 mins down the road to storage and now one of the leveling feet is stuck in the up position. I wouldn't recommend camping world to a single person. I bought this to share memories with my family but it's been nothing but a bad time. The manager called but offered no help and was condescending. The only highlight of the experience was the mechanic that offered help and guidance. read more

We needed our generator oil changed, needed our propane tank filled, and we needed to dump Our tanks. Just to get our generator oil changed was going to be a three week wait. NO DUMP STATION!! We ordered a palomino solaire from this camping world through our salesman Apples in March. First, he told us it would be a few months before it would be ready. Then he talked to his manager and all of the sudden they had one on order that was supposed to be going to the line in 6 days. We thought, awesome and the great news was, we could modify it how we wanted. He even called his forest river rep to confirm(unless he was lying about that too). We add what we want and he says the msrp was 40 some thousand dollars. We tell him that's way more than we were going to pay. He asks for our price, we tell him $36,000 out the door. He writes it down, has us sign so he has a deal if the manager approves it. He goes to speak to the manager and several minutes later comes back says it was approved and will be ready mid may. Beginning of may comes, apples says it will be mid June but we would have it by the Fourth of July. Next update was not until August because they were missing parts. At this point Apples knew we would not be happy and he suggested we could buy one of the other 3 campers of our make/model that camping world has on their lots and buy that for now. We decide on one, buy it for $1500 more than the one we ordered with less features but still want to buy our original when it's done. Next update is ours won't be ready until September. At this point, it has become a joke at our house. 2 or 3 weeks ago we get a call that it's coming off the line and we will have it soon. We call and talk to apples and he says the price went up. My husband says what about our signed deal? Apples says it said the price could change. We say not on the paperwork we signed. Apparently on the back of their purchase agreement, their is fine print that says the price can change. What we signed was not the purchase agreement. We signed a deal that says $36,000 and nothing about the price could change. Camping world will not honor the deal we signed with them. Camping world in Monticello doesn't give a crap who they lie to or any deals they make. Do yourself a favor, go across the street to Monticello rv center, drive to shakopee and check out a/c Nelson. Go anywhere else(except hilmerson in little falls b/c camping world bought them out). Don't give these ppl your hard earned money! Terrible experience with Camping World. I located online a 2011 Winnebago View available for sale from Camping World of Minneapolis. Contacted the dealer and was repeatedly assured by phone, email (see example below) and text messages as it related to the condition of the unit being sold that "this is an AWESOME motor home with 51k miles, no body damage, no pets, no stains, no odors, no interior damage. It is in very good shape and overall just a great used coach!" I asked repeatedly if there was any evidence of roof leaks or other problems, and again assured no problems whatsoever. We agreed on price, which included paying them nearly $1,000 for "a pre delivery inspection" that "goes through all major system components functions and operations to ensure that everything works and will work when you come in to take delivery of the coach. The technician that does the PDI will spend an hour and half or longer with you showing you how everything works and that everything does work and function properly." I then gave them a $2,000 deposit by credit card, picked up a cashier's check and booked a flight for the next day. Arrived at the dealership and kept inside for over 30 minutes (felt like they were hiding something). The unit was NOT as represented. There were lots of problems, most significant being evidence of multiple roof leaks (confirmed by their technician (I have lots of photos)), missing one of the roof fairings and the roof mounted HVAC unit almost detached (the technician told me he was instructed NOT to repair the HVAC and when I asked him why, he replied, "you would be surprised at what I am told not to fix"). So much for the $1,000 PDI to "ensure that everything works and will work when you come in to take delivery of the coach". The salesman (Kyle Hardy) had his supervisor Brian (or Bryan) (the Manager (David) was off that day), look at the unit and they both came in and explained that it certainly was not as represented, but that they could not do anything about it as it was a consignment. The salesman later said multiple times he felt like "a real asshole". When I asked what they were going to do to offset my time and travel expenses (I had to buy a return flight back to Salt Lake City) resulting from their misrepresentations, the Supervisor said he would talk to the Manager (mentioned Camping World gift cards) and get back to me. That was over 9 days ago and not a word, despite my having left messages for the salesman, his boss and the manager. My advice, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CAMPING WORLD, I believe they are dishonest. read more

Terrible Experience. Monticello Location is Horrible! I bought a Catalina Travel Trailer middle of August 2017. They hurried through the paperwork, disregarded my requests to keep the numbers private from my parents (who I was buying the camper for), they did not keep me informed of what I qualified for. The paperwork was not ready when needed to and then we were rushed to get it done. All paperwork signed within 5 minutes because they need we were in a time limit. After delivery of the camper, find out the ceiling fan options did not work, plugin outlet hanging from the wall, AC unit did not work, microwave did not work, there was a 2'x2' soft area under the flooring in the corner walk-in area under chairs they never removed. When they delivered it, they leveled it very poorly. I called about issues immediately. They argued that the level people knew what they were doing and it was good without looking at it. They wanted me to bring back the camper after being placed on a permanent campsite and after paying for them to level and knowing that this is my parents live in the summer. They finally agreed to put in a new microwave and agreed they leveling should be redone. They checked out the AC at the beginning of OCT and said it was fine. I said if when the season opens again and it doesn't work I can call you. He said yes. In April 2018, I tried contacting him again, he responded he still works there and would get to me next next week. After several attempts to get a hold of him, I started calling Corporate. I have called Corporate 5/30, 6/8, 6/14, 6/22, 6/27.... and THEY TOO still have not called me back. I WILL NEVER SHOP WITH THEM AGAIN, AND I WILL NEVER REFER SOMEONE TO EITHER. read more

On September 28, 2017 we picked up our new Keystone Cougar 29RES from CW Monticello. Our sales agent was very friendly and knowledgeable about our needs for our 5th wheel. We would like to give our salesman Keith an A+ but that's where the grade changes. They had a week to prep our trailer, clean it, install our Directv Dish. When we arrived they still had not begun our financing so we had several hours of sitting around waiting to sign paperwork. Although they had a week to get everything ready for us, it was not ready. A floor heater vent cover was missing and their fix was to lay one over the hole. We had to screw it to the floor. The remote was supposed to be programmed but it wasn't and doesn't work anything. They told us that the remote operated our auto level but it doesn't. I have to climb in a compartment to operate it! Then they left drains caps off that we had to search for! Ok, now we hit the road, sit back and decide to raise our sat dish to watch some TV but that doesn't work either! So here we are wasting another whole day at the CE Tulsa, Ok store. They determined that the Monticello store did not hook the sat up correctly so they are installing an all new dish for us costing us yet another day!!!! I recently attempted to purchase a used RV from this location. asking price was $86,999 and i offered what I believe to be reasonable, $85k. The response I received was shocking. the sales manager stated, "86,096.59 plus prep and must finance with us, sign out by end of month and give us a 5 star Google review." Is this not extortion? The sales rep was responsive but his manger extremely unprofessional. I am attempting to locate senior management. clearly not a customer focused culture. - John read more

We worked with Robert A at Monticello Camping World. We gave him our price range and what we were looking for in a new camper. He showed us numerous campers in our price range. Robert was able to answer our questions. He was an all around excellent person to work with during the buying process. He even offered to come out to our campground to make sure it was set up to meet our needs. read more

I would not advise anyone to purchase from this Camping World. I thought they were strong arm manipulators...anything to get the sale. When we got home and a cover for one of the outside lights was gone, their suggestion was to "go buy one". Brand new and they wouldn't help...a two dollar part! We couldn't get a loan percent from them or other info on our loan. At least 5 different people 'helped' with the book work. And after telling them our budget, they kept coming in with higher prices. I left with a very very sour taste for my camper. read more
