Our family has gone here during the holiday season the last 3-4 years for their free professional Santa photo. This year was even better. Not only did they give out free candy canes but also an ornament kit. They also had a Lincoln log station, free gun shooting of fake animals, and free bow-arrow shooting of fake ducks. We always enjoy their waterfall/mountain display or taxidermy animals and the live fresh water fish aquarium. It's a great place to go with kids. Very friendly staff and a well-stocked store with a variety of high-quality outdoor brands. The fam went here over the weekend looking for some boots for the kids. Unfortunately, our kids are too small still, but we did get a chance to experience the store as well as the customer service. Whether it is fishing, hunting or just camping, they have a great selection of quality gear and clothing that is specific to each pursuit. They also have a very friendly staff that works here. Yesterday I had the worst experience I've ever had at a cabela's. I ordered some gunpowder for reloading a couple of weeks ago and received an email that it was in and I could pick it up. So I drive there and follow the instructions in the email for curbside pick up. Call the store select option 5 and the phone rings. I say there listening to it ring for at least 3 minutes before hanging up. I then call customer service/ in store pick up (option 4 for those that don't know). Again it rings and rings with no answer for almost another 3 minutes. Lastly I figure I'll call the operator, they always answer. Ha! After a good minute or so I give up, go park, and storm inside since now I'm just pissed. I go to customer service and tell the guy that I was happy someone was working today. I go through my experience this far and he was very polite and apologetic. He then tells me I need to go over to another area for my pick up and tells me that he knew they were having problems with the phone lately and maybe that was why. So I go to this other desk and Michael comes out and asks me how I was? So I was brutally honest and said not good. That I wasn't happy and why. Michael then gets an attitude with me and says, "So you must be (John Doe) I told him yes. He told me he saw that I was calling but he was on the other line with another customer. I asked him well what's the point of having curb side pickup if no one ever answers the damn phone? He tells me "man, I've been working here x amount of years and I've never had a customer come in here and act like that, I'm paraphrasing as those weren't his exact words, but they were pretty close. I thought to myself I guess this explains why he wasn't working in customer service, he obviously sucks at that. We get into it a little but before he gives me a piece of paper telling I need to go back to the warehouse to pick it up. I'm getting even more pissed at this point because now I have to go to yet another place for my order. And yet curb side pickup was an option? On my way out I ask the customer service guy to get me that manager please. I wait a few minutes and a gentleman come and introduces himself. Nice guy and again apologizing for the inconvenience. He explains that they have been having problems with the phone system lately. Oh really? But yet Michael knew I was trying to call. Sends like maybe that's just the go to reply when someone isn't happy about not being able to spousal m speak to someone. I know when I was a service writer for a Ford dealer when I was younger and sometime called, I would ask the customer i was talking to if I could put them on a brief hold? Usually the answer is OK, I then answer the caller and ask them if I can put them on hold for a minute and then I go back to the customer I was originally talking to. That way the caller isn't sitting there getting more pissed by the minute and they know someone knows they are waiting. But apparently that was too much for Michael to comprehend. The manager tells me that state law prohibits him from storing the gun powder in the store and that was why I needed to go back to the warehouse. Ok, that I understand it told him. I also mentioned that maybe that should have been included in the email because then none of this would have probably happened since I would've known curb side pickup wasn't an option then. The final thought here is that this is why I miss Gander Mountain. Not that they were better, but at least one would have another option. Joe's, and other Cabela's stores are not close for me. This one isn't even that close, so I'm left with little options at this point other that paying extra for delivery. Which I guess is my only other choice. Those as cabela's, if you read this, your store needs better customer service training because of you were being graded, this would most certainly have been an F. read more

Please know - that after 60 days - Cabelas does NOT honor manufacture warranty for product defects! My son purchased a very expensive SITKA jacket with Christmas money less than a year ago. Sitka has replacement warranty on any manufacture defect, including zippers. Receipt in hand, Cabelas is telling me they will not replace. Maybe this is a naive mom, but I do believe people buy SITKA for the quality and the warranty. Don't buy Sitka items at Cabelas expecting them to honor the manufacture warranty! Living in Minnesota for the first time in my life has come with a lot of change. Warm to cold, California real to Minnesota nice snd from great Mexican food to Mexican that is painful. The unexpected gem in our new city was living a few miles from Cabellas: This store is an outdoorsman paradise. Fishing, boating, hunting and general outdoor gear all in mass supply with an aquarium, shooting range and every other fun thing a kid or adult could want. First time in a store like this. I'm a city girl passing thru in need of some snow gear. I really liked the spacious store with all the wildlife mounted up and on display. It was like I was a kid on a field trip to the Natural History Museum. They have a fish pond with feeding time and an aquarium. I got a pair of sunglasses and the girl at the counter was very knowledgeable. We got gloves, boots, a heavy coat and jeans. Then at the cashier we picked up some hot cinnamon nuts from the case. Waited in line for an hour to purchase a $1600 gun, with my passport and utility bill, only to be told I had to print the bill. I went to Cabela's to purchase a pair of Cabela's Men's Zoned Comfort Trac 2000 Hunting Boots on sale for $79.97 which was a savings of $50. The sales started on 11/2 and they were already sold out and could not order any. They explained that they lowered a comparable Muck boot down to $134 which is not even close to the $80 price. I'm a Black member at Cabela's and I'm totaling upset that Cabela's would use this type of tactic to get me in there store. Shame on Cabela's, I will buy my boots elsewhere. read more

It's fantastic and the customer service is readily aware not everyone that walks in their door wants to buy a hunting blind or enough camping equipment to scale Everest. They happily encourage you to enjoy all that Cabela's has to offer even if you're just browsing. In my case I wanted my wife to experience this place so we pulled over in Rogers while en route to St. Cloud. Her eyes lit up when we walked in. The scale really is impressive and the collection of mounted animals is terrific. As for shopping, they've got you covered for any outfitting needs. I order a Ruger 10/22 online. They cancel my order without telling me. I only found out after waiting 11 days later when it never arrived. The most fked up part was I end up buying accessories and ammo for a rifle I wasn't getting. Even more fked up was I went to the store a few days earlier and inquiry about the status of my order, the sales person straight up lied to my face that my order was still in good standing and I believed him. I love having a Cabela's in the town we live in. Bringing the kids there to look at the fish, all the stuffed/mounted animals, playing on the boats (kids are not supposed to go on the boats, but most staff allow it), the shooting gallery upstairs and eating some delicious fudge, is a relaxing nearly free couple of hours spent. I love the wide selection of everything they have, and I especially have grown fond of the Cabela's branded items. I was quite impressed at how they handled the crowds of people for the early morning Black Friday. They had a path to follow that snaked its way around the store. They were often letting everybody know how many minutes they had to wait from certain points of the path, to get up to a register. Surprisingly, it was not long at all, even at the very end of the line. The deals were good enough and even though all the customers were crammed into the space, everybody was happy as can be. There was a trick an employee told me that day as well, which was "even though that deal is out of stock, we can order it online at the special price". Sweet! Ordered! I'll admit, I have eaten at the café only a single time. When I want lunch or dinner, I don't ever think of Cabela's. There are plenty of other great choices in Rogers. I don't recall ever asking a question to a staff member, who wasn't very well trained to be in the department they were in. That makes shopping much easier. read more

While I wasn't one of the first 800 in line for the Black Friday give away, I was still there 2 hours early for some of their sales. While I won't be basing this review off a wacky atypical day, this was my latest visit and with perhaps 2,000 people wandering around, things went smoothly. Occasionally when I need to get away from work, I'll come here to the cafe for lunch. They have some of the best beer battered cheese curds around. They also have all sorts of crazy animal burgers. If you're in shopping around lunch time, I recommend a stop up to the cafe. You won't be disappointed. Everything in the store seems to be fairly well organized and in logical places. That's a big thing for me. I don't like thinking like a crazy person just to find one small item. The people there are friendly enough and they do ask if you need help finding something if you look totally lost. I'll get a few offers when I am wandering around looking at all the stuffed animals they have there. read more

And the fudge shop upstairs is a most stop. The mounts are always interesting for the kiddos and are impressive for adults as well. I have never incurred someone so rude and condescending as this guy. It was so bad that even my 10 year old commented to his nastiness. Cabela's has changed since they were bought by Bass Pro. A LOT. Total sellouts. I haven't been there in a few months, but I went there tonight, and instead of being a company that was devoted to its base of hunting enthusiasts, it has now just become a Dick's Sporting Goods with a few more guns. The entire front half of the store, which used to be camo products, has been replaced with cheap clothing (with probably huge margins) like Under Armor, North Face, etc. I couldn't even find the camo in the store, and we are in full swing waterfowl season and bow season here. Unbelievable. So, since I have to go online to buy my camo, I'll at least go to rogerssportinggoods.com so I can pay less. See ya Cabelas. read more

I've had mixed results with this Cabela's store. The gun counter was less than helpful the last 2 times I went in looking for a scope. They seem indifferent unless you are buying a super-expensive gun. The fishing guys are totally great. I was in yesterday to look at a portable ice house (burning my Christmas bonus) and they were all into it. Jeff helped me set up 2 different popups and we sort of compared them together. I ended up with the Eskimo 3 for a pretty good price. Overall, just a 3 for these guys. They have the selection but the prices aren't all that much better and most of the employees are just there to punch a time clock (not experts). read more

Where to begin with this place. They never have any workers on the floor so if you don't know exactly what you're looking for and where to find it, godspeed my friend. When I asked the guy behind the gun desk about the pros and cons of a shorter or longer barrel for a shotgun he said "it doesn't matter". The woman at the returns desk was disgusted that I was asking to execute....a return. She made me feel...so small. I asked if she could reorder the same boots in a larger size and she said she would have to log on to her computer which was 18 inches in front of her beak nose. I eventually convinced her to do her job but it was not easy. Shopping at the Cabela's in Rogers has made me question everything I thought I loved about the great outdoors. They have very cheap corporate policies. I recently ordered a wild game brat, on special for $2.99. I was told that due to a corporate policy, at that price point, I could not have a few small chopped onions for it. I was amazed that they even allowed ketchup at that price point. It was no fault of my own, that I ordered something at a certain price point/special price that they advertised to entice us to order that item. Since when is it a good corporate policy that at certain price points only certain condiments should be allowed? I was told if I ordered it at regular price, it would have been able to have a couple pieces of chopped onions on it. Guess corporate has determined ketchup must be economical at that price point but onions are not? Maybe the sign advertising the special should state what condiments are allowed or not allowed? How cheap can a corporation of that size be to have a corporate policy as such? Cabelas is basically what you would call your big boys store. If you're an outdoorsman in every sense of the word, Cabelas has you covered on the stuff you need. Whether you need hunting equipment, archery, camping, fishing, etc., they have you covered. They have an incredible selection of firearms, a huge selection of ammunition, and it's basically a superstore for everything. The weak point of Cabelas is the camping section, at which point you would probably be better off going to a store like REI to get stuff like that but it is available. read more
