This place wants $200 for a contact lens fitting! That's more than the lenses themselves, more than twice what my last doctor charged, and FIVE TIMES the cost at Walmart. I visited Campus Eye Group because my new insurance (Davis) covers a large portion of the cost of certain eyeglasses purchased from them, but only if I get my eye exam there. I typically wear contacts, and was thrilled with the idea of reasonably priced backup glasses, but adding in that contact fitting fee makes me disinclined to return. I'm also concerned about the perfunctory exam by a clearly bored doctor, but I'll reserve judgement until my glasses come in. Two stars instead of one because the optician, Gary, is a seriously nice guy who spent A LOT of time helping me select frames. The rest of the place needs to model themselves after him. Added: It's been 3 weeks, and no sign of my glasses. I called a week ago. The first story I was given is that there was no invoice for them, and so they hadn't been ordered. Then they supposedly just hadn't been shipped yet. Tried calling again today and left a message. This is getting silly. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I'm even surprised that this office has 2 stars and that they're still in business. I had Lasik done 4 years ago. I went here for an eye exam back in June. I was told that my co-pay was $80 and paid it before I left. Three months later I receive a bill in the mail stating that I owe another $25 co-pay and my insurance covered another $75. I call to find out that the eye exam was $100, which is fine. My vision was 20-25 and I did not need any Lasik revision or glasses. The other $80 cost was for unnecessary corneal testing to see if I could have Lasik revision. The office should be doing the eye exam FIRST and then determining if further corneal testing is even necessary. The $80 corneal testing exam is just a way for this place to extort even more money out of patients. I will never be returning to this office and I would not recommend going here. read more

I waited for over six months for my (required by them) trial contact lenses, they forgot to order them. There is no answer to speak to the person in charge of contacts and she does not return calls. Waited 45 minutes for a five minutes contacts fitting and then waited 20 minutes because they could not find my contacts. They had them shipped to the wrong place. The wait is outrageous, very disorganized, zero customer service, no appointments available when you need them (after becoming their patient) and more business than patient focused. I brought my young son for his first eye exam. It was I who had to explain what was happening with all the tests. He was scared of what the machines. When we were done we went somewhere else for glasses. I was told eye group already put in the insurance for us to get glasses from them. When they called to change it there was no answer. When we called no answer. I called the next day and was told it would not be done until the afternoon. A simple phone call. I tried to call the insurance and was told I could not change it. This is ridiculous. My son needs glasses for school and they are taking their time getting back to anybody. I will not be going back here again. read more

If I could I would give NO STARS! The worst experience of my life! This is a poorly run Medicare mill that exists to separate elderly people from their limited savings. I was scheduled for cataract surgery with an upgraded lens to correct my existing eyes issues and never have to wear glasses again. I was given a price per eye not covered by insurance. When I arrived the morning if my procedure I was then told I needed to pay an additional 1600 per eye towards my insurance deductible! So instead of this coating $4200 I now was responsible for almost $7000 !!!! Every person I spoke with in billing, management and administration claimed it wasn't their Talk about bait and switch! Do not deal with any facility that is affiliated with Dr. Ilan Cohen! They are only interested in stealing your money! I have been going here for years and have never had a complaint. All Of the doctors are knowledgable and very friendly. You never feel rushed. The staff is always courteous. They have great hours as they offer evening and weekend hours. Last year I received LASIK surgery and had a wonderful experience. One comes to expect doctors and specialists to usually be arrogant, uncaring and disrespectful - but Campus Eye group (Dr. Stein in particular) is the worst I've ever seen in many years. My mother worked for 38 years as a hospital administrator, and was shocked by how badly I was treated. At my last visit I waited over an hour and a half for Dr. Stein, being told (when I asked) oh, he's coming soon. Finally I asked to see the office manager, who said "He is in surgery for at least another hour" - then left, very upset. Dr. Mussolini was quite brusque but at least would attempt to see me. The two receptionist in the lasik side April and Anna always had a professional and caring demeanor. The doctors and seemed to actually care about patients and I was treated well. Refused numerous times until i went to the office. Gave me completely incorrect prescription to have filled and am now out all of this money. I AM RATING THE LASIK CENTER (SURGEON), NOT CAMPUS EYE GROUP AS A WHOLE. I received Lasik surgery and my surgeon was Dr. Harmon Stein. OPT FOR ANOTHER SURGEON! The only problem I had with the LASIK was with my surgeon because he had NO bedside manner. He walked right past me coming from across the hall, into the surgery room, and seemed like he was busy doing something else before my surgery. Needless to say he was very rushed and abrasive during the surgery. I went into the room and he didn't really introduce himself, walked past me and just asked my name. Not very welcoming and a little awkward. I was super nervous and told them I had a lot of anxiety all of a sudden. I laid down on the table and was not told what was happening. So, every part of the surgery was unexpected and I was confused as to how I am supposed to participate in the surgery. When they prop open your eyes, before they make the flap on your cornea, you go temporarily blind. I knew that your eyes dim, but I did not know that you go temporarily blind. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?! Never got lasik before and the surgeon didn't tell me what would happen next. I start saying I can't see and begin to freak out and he yells, "YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN OR I AM GOING TO GET NERVOUS!" His response made me panic even more because I thought- was I supposed to do something? Did he mess up? All the while with a very nasty tone and was very abrasive- it just made the surgery horrible. He also tells me to look at a light (There are several lights above my head) - I look at one and he gets angry because I'm looking at the wrong light- I respond he needs to give me CLEAR instructions, which light? The red, the green? The surgery ends and he checks my eyes and walks out. I wasn't looking for a handshake or anything, but it was probably one of the strangest encounters with a PROFESSIONAL I have ever had in my life. I never normally leave reviews for businesses, but I felt this would save potential LASIK customers a lot of angst. Overall, I felt as if he treated me like a fellow surgeon who was supposed to know all the steps to a LASIK surgery. ???? He was very indirect and did not tell me what to do, so then the surgery could go smoothly. It's just a huge let down for me that I spent thousands of dollars just to be treated like garbage and that he can just walk away thinking nothing happened. Save Dr. Harmon for the people who can handle surgeries or have zero anxiety. If you have moderate-severe anxiety- ASK FOR ANOTHER SURGEON. I had an appointment for a surgery consultation. I was not told that the appointment would take 2-3 hours. I arrived for my appointment 10 minutes early and sat in the waiting room. My deductible was collected up front. After 45 minutes I inquired as to the status of my appointment. The office manager informed me at that point about the "normal" 2-3 hour wait period and that the doctor was in surgery. I was also informed that he would be at least 45 minutes longer and that there were 2 patients ahead of me. (How she knew that without asking my name or the time of my appointment, I do not know.) She said I could reschedule for another day but that this was how they did things. I asked how long the actual consultation with the doctor would last and was told 5 minutes. They made me wait over the summer for several tests for over an hour and a half with no explanation. I finally had to reschedule and could not get another appointment for another month. Also another doctor accused me of not taking my medication with little information and never having met me before. She then reversed course last week and indicated that my condition was preventing the medication from working properly. read more

I don't really write reviews but this place frustrated me!! I went here for my regular eye exam using my insurance. now with my insurance I have an allowance and when I spoke to Lucy in the contacts department she informed of how much I have and that I don't have to use it all, I went ahead and ordered 1 box of contacts which the allowance would cover. when it was ready I couldn't go pick it up so I had my BF pick it up and he was changed $70 for it. I called and the front desk couldn't help me out (Danielle). First she said it was what I had to pay after my deductible which didn't make sense because I only got 1 box. she stated that lucy (contacts department) was on vacations and she's THE ONLY ONE who knows about this. when I asked when was Lucy coming back she got upset huffing and puffing and said "IDK" I said you don't have a return date for Lucy? I just got a plain NO for an answer. after being on the phone with Danielle for about 20-30 mins. she stated Lisa who was the office manager was going to call me back the same day or the next day by midday the latest and here i'm still waiting for a call back from Lisa "the manager". (I been calling and leaving VM and no call back) I think that they should have more than 1 person trained for each department so that things like that won't happen!. Hard to give a review. I as a patient for just vision tests and glasses, have had no issues. All appt were in time, didn't wait long. Had LASIK done here in 2009, and had a great experience. So I brought my mother her because she was unhappy with her ophthalmologist. She has glaucoma and lost complete vision in one eye and very poor vision in the other eye. The pressure in the "good" eye was getting too high. We saw The glaucoma specialist and she needed to have laser surgery to decrease the pressure. We went in the evening and they put numbing drops in her eyes to reduce pain, then proceed to have us wait in the waiting room for 2 hours. No one came out and spoke to us. The ancillary staff left. No reception! Finally I knocked on the door to the back and one of the doctors came out. They were having trouble with a patient, but never had the courtesy to come and and tell anyone, let alone the patients daughter they were having trouble with. Now she had another surgery and has been good. Now she has swelling in the back of the eye. Made an appt to see the retina specialist in two weeks. I need evening because I work. They call me the day of the appt to see if we can come in an hour earlier because the doc no longer works that late. Now we are here, me leaving work early, being told the Dr is going to be late. He is stuck in surgery. No idea when he will be here. A whole waiting room full of people waiting for this Dr. Unbelievable! Getting really tired of this bullshit. In a word - brutal. Would give no stars if this was an option. Took my mother 2 times for a consult. First time the wait was over 2 1/2 hours, and we needed to reschedule. The second time we were in the waiting room for over an hour. I had to ask the office staff when we would be seen. She said the doctor was not even in the office! They will make you wait there indefinitely if you don't ask. Doctor never came in after 2 hours due to emergency surgery. My mother is older, lives in assisted living, and has trouble walking, as were many of the other patients in the waiting room. Making them wait for over two to three hours is atrocious and not indicative of good or professional healthcare. I would not recommend this office to anyone. They are a factory. Office staff are robotic and lack empathy. They were sure to take copay, though. Will be looking for another doctor who doesn't perform surgery the same day he/she is scheduled to see patients and where office staff are competent. Campus Eye Group is the best place for LASIK in the New York area. They are the most affordable and the customer service is great. They charge $3,750 for both eyes for bladeless LASIK. This is the lowest price in the area. They did a great job and I now have 20/20 vision. It's great not having to wear the glasses after 20 years! My vision is actually clearer because I'm not looking through lenses. The staff was thorough doing the pre-op testing and answering questions. The doctor and surgeon were incredibly professional. I couldn't have been in better hands for the procedure. Do yourself a favor and look into LASIK if you wear glasses and would like to make them a thing of the past. With modern technology, it's a no-brainer! I am an attorney and was referred here by a colleague. Getting LASIK at Campus Eye Group was one of the best decisions of my life. read more

I have used Campus Eye Group since 2007 when I had my Lasik surgery performed at their center. I noticed the level of professionalism and courtesy dwindling with the staff at my last 3 appts. I had a yearly eye exam scheduled and when I arrived for my appt the receptionist at the 1st desk informed me that my insurance does not have vision coverage. No one from the office bothered to call me ahead of time and instead of apologizing to me she defended the fact that they did not call. I will never be returning to Campus Eye Group and my family and friends will not either after listening to my experience. read more

if I had my way there would be no stars given to this surgical mill. I agree with Sandi C. My husband was given a 7:30 report time and was told he would be #1 on the list as he is a type 1 diabetic. we arrived at 7:16am and checked in. approximately 10 minutes later he was shuffled off to the center across the hall to have his eye "measured" for the lens to be implanted. approximately 2 hours later and with absolutely no contact he was escorted back across the hall with nothing more than a 45 second Lasix treatment and no cataract surgery ( his main reason for the appointment and surgery) ok, so now it is 9:30 - 9:45 and we had to wait. If it weren't for my prompting heaven and 2 hours later that my husband had to remind the "nurse" that he was a type 1 diabetic, hadn't eaten since 7 the previous evening and still fasting that his blood sugar was dropping quickly and if they didn't see him soon, the would be seeing him on the floor that they even paid attention to the fact we were in the waiting room. needless to say his bs dropped to "54" (not good) and he needed to have an iv drip of glucose that they took him in for the cataract procedure. mind you all of 20 minutes. he was discharged at approximately 12:10 that afternoon. So 5 hours later, and again, supposedly 1st on the list we were on our way home. WE WILL NEVER USE THIS FACILITY AGAIN. I WOULD RATHER GO BLIND THAT UTILIZE A SURGICAL MILL THAT HAS SO LITTLE REGARD FOR THEIR PATIENTS. AND AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED ANY PHYSICIAN THAT WOULD USE THIS FACILITY IS NOW OFF MY LIST. I came in this weekend for a LASIK consult for my boyfriend who was extremely nervous. (I've worked in ophthalmology for 10+yrs) So I came along to make sure he was getting good treatment and that the staff knows what they are doing. I am happy to report from the moment we walked in the office the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Annamaria and April welcomed us and got him checked in promptly no wait at all, which was great that rarely happens at doctors' offices. After we got checked in Annamaria took over and got him in testing room and performed several quick tests. She was very professional and calming. She explained everything she was doing and even had us laughing. By the time she was done my boyfriend was relaxed and more confident about getting the procedure done. After Annamaria did the testing she got us settled in an exam room and April came in to explain some details, she really took her time with us and let us ask multiple questions. Annamaria and April really went above and beyond to make sure we understood everything about the procedure and what to expect. We scheduled our next appointment this coming weekend with the Doctor for dilated exam and to hopefully schedule LASIK surgery! We are so happy with our experience and highly recommend campus eye group!!! read more

Horrible experience. Giving 1 Start is an overstatement. Took my mother for a consultation with Dr. Mussoline for cataract surgery. We waited for almost 3 hours with just a few very brief exams in the meantime. When the doctor came in to see us, he did not introduce himself, and went right into his sh-peal about why my mother needed cataract surgery. PROCEED WITH CAUTION! Yes this place has the lowest price around for bladeless LASIK BUT you get what you pay for! The staff is very sneaky & deceptive - they are nice till they've got your money, then all of a sudden you get hit with major attitude and lots of hidden fees & BS. I scheduled LASIK for last month, I was told that the price was $3200 flat - no extra fees (and believe me I asked several times) but then on the day of my surgery they tried to sneak in a 15% facility fee of $480! I put my foot down and started to walk out so they "waived the fee". What a bunch of crap! Then, they don't accept insurance but they tell you they'll give you an itemized bill for your insurance company to refund you- Complete BS because Dr. Stein is NOT listed as a LASIK doctor under his Hamilton office where he hangs his license which is the only location that is registered with insurance companies ("campus eye group LASIK department is separate from the Optometry department and is not listed under any insurance company), so there goes your insurance discount. Dr. Stein is VERY rude. He made nice small chat till I was laid down and my eyes were peeled open, then he ignored me and when I cried out in pain he snapped at me for 'causing a scene in his surgery room'. I've spoken to numerous people and none of them experienced the pain that I did in my right eye, and my vision is VERY blurry. My left eye is 20/20, my right eye is a disaster and I know it's because he did something wrong.. the pain was excruiating! And the optometry department is a DISASTER. All your follow up appointments are through them and they seem to triple book appointments because the waiting room rarely has an empty chair & I had to wait 30-50 minutes for each one of my "scheduled" appointments. Then they rush you in and out like you're an inconvenience to them- they didn't listen to any of my concerns about my right eye.. What a joke. LASIK is a life changing choice - spend the extra 2k and go elsewhere for your peace of mind and safety! read more

Their hours are great. They are open on the week-end. I had a good initial experience seeing one of the general ophthalmologists and was diagnosed with a chalazion that needed removing. however, trying to schedule the removal with one of the surgeons has been a nightmare. I have been calling every day for a week, leaving messages with the surgical scheduling team, but they never return my calls, or just leave you hanging on hold. Suffice to stay I'm asking for a referral to another practice who hopefully has better customer service. read more

The customer service is horrible. The way they do the scheduling for surgery and follow up is an absolute nightmare. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should wait 2 and half hours to see a doctor for 5 to 10 minutes. The doctors are good but they are not GOD. They are constantly overbooked and have people spilling out into the hallway. Many are elderly and handicapped. My dad is 81 and he had to stand or sit on a wooden bench with no back for 2 and half hours. We have been back for several follow up appointments for his cataract surgery and each time the wait time has gotten worse. We will definitely be finding a new doctor. The receptionist in the main office insisted that insurance would not cover a test on a exam for my father. She was rude and insisted that it was not covered and he had to pay out of pocket. I then informed her that my father had a secondary insurance. The waiting room was very crowded. I informed her that I would pay if and only if the secondary insurance was billed and did not cover. I did not pay at the time and there is no balance due. If you have a choice, go someplace else. We certainly will read more

I would recommend Campus Eye for surgical procedures such as cataract removal and laser surgery. The staff is professional, which you can find at other providers, but they go above and beyond to remain kind, caring and reassuring about whatever procedure you will be having. Their compassion shows at all levels. They also have a well thought-out process for handling many patients at the same time, and you won't see anyone rushing around or looking frazzled despite the number of people they handle during the day. My only suggestion would be to spruce up the facility and have the facility match the professionalism of the staff. New furniture and other improvements would go a long way to make the wait more comfortable! read more

I had really bad experience in this place. I was supposed to get a Lasik eye surgery purchased on a groupon. After 2 exams I was said that I am a candidate and scheduled the surgery day. After waiting for 2 hours for my surgery I was taken into the room where they explained everything about post-surgery and gave me pain relievers.But, the surgery didn't take place because the doctor said I would need a prk instead !very unprofessional. Why I had those exams and why 2 doctors said my eyes are perfect for the surgery and why they did not make it at the end-only they know.i would get my surgery at another place rather than trusting my eyes to this company. The doctor Cohen didn't even apologize for the inconvenience and pretty much was mean as if it was my fault not his. And to mention,my exams didn't go perfect as well,I was waiting for about 3 hours they kept sending me back and force and wait,wait,wait.the whole exam should have taken maximum 50 min total,not three hours. I was referred to this office by a very picky friend who always takes a Dr.'s office first appointment of the day or she won't go. Sooooo she didn't warn me about the standard 2-3 hour wait that I was informed of by one of the rudest customer service persons I have interacted with in a long time. I am a public employee and deal with the public every day, multiple times and I would never speak to someone I do business like I was today. I can't believe they can keep the office open, but just the opposite the place is packed! But I started noticing all of the patients were acting like it was old home week or a family reunion when they walked in. (At least they were cheerful, unlike 50% of the staff I interacted with.) They all knew each other from spending hours upon hours waiting in one of the 3 waiting rooms they provide for your 1/2 day stay. I went for my eye exam and ordered glasses and it took a little over 2 hours. I chalked it up to bad timing. The Dr. said he needed to do more "tests" so make an appointment for 2 weeks. I picked up my glasses about a week & a half later and had no wait, no problem, love my new glasses. Then I returned today at 9 a.m. thinking I would get to work by 10 -10:30. After my hour long wait I inquired what was this all about was when the girl at the desk looked up to me like she would rather be anywhere but there and told me about the "typical 2-3 hour wait". My 2 "tests" that took less than 5 minutes each were not very well explained, but I was not to worry all is normal. Most of the clientell appeared to be of a very ethnically diverse, retiree crowd on medicare. If any of them had a problem understanding the insurance the staff began to repeat the same things over loudly and rude. Never again will I be back there. read more
