I considered joining Riverside for the summer. For $600 for four months it seemed like a…read morereasonable deal, given that it has decent facilities which include a couple of well-maintained indoor tennis courts. Unfortunately, though, these courts have an odd surface that I've never seen anywhere else. I can only describe it as 'soft and mushy'. It wasn't bad to play on, and was probably easy on the body (much of the clientele appears to be of an older demographic here, and maybe the choice of the surface was made for their benefit), but I assume that playing here often would make it hard to adjust to typical hardcourt surfaces, where the ball bounces harder, faster, and higher. I'll continue looking for a place to play tennis this summer... As for the other facilities (gym, pool, etc), they're all decent, but I've seen better elsewhere in town. The star attraction here is the tennis courts; it's unfortunate they're so strange...

We went around 3:30 on Wednesday and there was maybe 3 other people there. So lots of space, could still have a convo and not distract anyone. They have numerous boxes to practice swings at, as well as a whole other area for putting and short game. The features looked nice, sand trap and some water so you can get a true feel for how a lot of golf games end up. They also have the simulators there too, so you can practice a whole game with your friends and have a couple drinks. They offer lessons and have a mini pro shop if you need to pick anything up. Being new to the indoor golf world (personally it's still ski season, I want to be outside, not in) the facility seemed good and they have parking there too.

I was supposed to join my sister, but I was denied service when arrived. I showed up ONE minute late, and this is not an exaggeration. My sister had checked me in and set my mat up for me, it was a matter of taking my shoes off and entering the room. The street parking in the area can be tricky and I had to circle around a few times to secure a spot and sprinted over to the studio. 6 pm class - driving over in prime rush hour time. I was also told by my sister who did attend that the class was empty and did NOT even start on time. I understand that studios have procedures to avoid disruption, but refusing someone over a one-minute delay feels unnecessarily strict and lacking basic customer consideration. Especially as it was my first ever class with Hot Shop. I made the effort to show up and was essentially on time, yet still wasn't allowed to participate. A simple "please arrive early next time otherwise you'll be denied entry" could have sufficed. It did not help that I was told "sorry, sometimes the instructors don't let people in. It depends on the instructor". This only made it sound even MORE unfair. Basically communicating that this isn't a strict rule, and it only applies to SOME people. Instructor was Shauna Clark. It didn't feel welcoming or accommodating, which is the opposite of what I expect from a yoga environment. Yoga is meant to be therapeutic, but I left feeling extremely stressed. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression and will not be returning to any studios. Still waiting to hear if I'll get my money back since I showed up ready to participate.

When I did I was told it was a policy, but it isn't stated on the website anywhere and she could not tell me where it was either! Was also told by the manager that it is stated in the email but it also isn't. The class was half empty, it was at 4:45 which is also during rush hour and i did my best to come in on time. Honestly just disrespectfully and bad business practices. Policies should be stated very clearly and multiple times. There is also a certain amount of professionalism when it comes to customer service that clearly non of the employees or the manager practice.

The floor…read moreis designed for people being slammed down onto it, so it's ideally yielding yet firm for bootcamp exercises. The setup is less conducive to some exercises, such as wall balls, and the TRX rope space is limited, but they also have some atypical equipment for a Fit Body, such as freestanding punching bags and foam barriers for jumping exercises. It is also worth noting that they have several slightly cool water fountains, for people like me that never remember to bring water. I believe that this location is owned by the same folks as the Bridgeland (East) location, and the typical workout formula follows the same superset structure: reps for each of the major muscle groups in sequence, followed by a short rest, then rinse and repeat. This is done mostly using your own body weight, and gives you both cardio and strength training. Almost anyone can do these workouts, because it can be as easy or as hard as you make it. If you're the type of person who works harder with instructor encouragement and/or small group camaraderie, this bootcamp is a good choice.

I have not had a single injury and usually do their workouts five or six days a week. Every day is a completely different kind of workout so that it is impossible to get bored. There is great emphasis on proper form and all aspects of fitness are addressed, from strength training to cardio/core strength to stretching/yoga before and after each workout. Modifications are made for anyone with a health or chiropractic issue. The owners/trainers offer so much more than simply great workout routines...they freely give advice and sound nutritional couselling to all boot-campers. I have lost over 25 pounds, gained muscle and stamina and overcome numerous health/chiropractic issues as a result of this total fitness package. I would highly recommend Heji Fitness/Calgary Fitbody Bootcamp to anyone who is looking to make a change for the better in their health and fitness.

Please stay far FAR away from this gym…read more they have super deceptive business practices especially against young adults that will lock you into contracts and coaching you do NOT need. I had no idea what i was getting into years ago when i signed up for this gym, i thought i was getting a good deal on coaching and the place looks nice, but the payments will drown you. If you ever think about canceling, good luck. They will only freeze your account, and force you to pay the full years long term + some extra hidden fees. Save yourself the stress and go to literally any other gym in Calgary, hands down this is the worst one I've ever went to throughout my whole life.

When I cancelled my membership, I was explicitly told --both in person and in writing by staff--that extra fees would be waived. Despite that clear agreement, the gym later tried to charge me anyway, hiding behind contract terms instead of honoring their own word. To make matters worse, random "fees" that I was never made aware of were added, including a so-called "facility fee." This is not just a matter of money, but of honesty and integrity. If a company promises something to its members, it should follow through. Instead, I was left feeling misled, nickel-and-dimed, and taken advantage of. There are plenty of other gyms in Calgary that value transparency and treat their members with respect. Based on my experience, GYMVMT North Hill Centre does neither.

Firstly, I was very shocked to see a white appearing, female teacher, Jesse Caetano, wearing a shirt that said 'Guru' on it while teaching a class. On top of that, this studio still finishes all of their classes with the phrase 'Namaste'. Given the collective cultural awareness around the appropriation and commercialization of yoga especially in the West, it is shocking to see this type of behavior still happening in a studio. There has been an entire movement and there are many resources now available on how studios and teachers should be working towards cultural sensitivity, respect, and inclusion. This studio seems to be completely out of touch and behind on all of these important issues. Secondly, a male teacher, Darryl Brown, attempted to "adjust" me while in a balancing pose (eagle). He stepped onto my mat and tried to push me with a block in his hand from behind. I did not give him consent to touch me when he asked at the beginning of class who would like hands-on assists. Consent is a very important thing to respect in all environments, especially in the yoga studio when there's a male teacher. Lastly, I attempted to leave a class five minutes early and the same teacher who was wearing the Guru shirt, Jesse Caetano, told me " I can't let you leave the room" when I attempted to exit. Apparently, it is a studio-wide policy that no one can leave the heated yoga rooms unless it's an emergency. The owner told me this is to "keep everyone safe". It's important to note that all of their classes are heated and that this sort of policy is inherently very dangerous and limits personal autonomy as well. I would not recommend this studio, there are many great places in Calgary to practice yoga, find another studio!
