Got new tires on my Toyota Sienna, made an appt. for a wheel alignment on Feb.25 at Canadian Tire (South Common). Was advised after waiting 2 hours that I needed a new tie rod end and therefore could not do the wheel alignment (would have to order the part). Was charged $57.71. Was able to get into Gateway Toyota on Feb.26th, performed wheel alignment, no tie rod end needed. I DO NOT recommend Canadian Tire for auto servicing/repair!!!!! read more

What is the reason for the customer Wi-Fi disconnection at the Canadian Tire store? The store's size makes it very inconvenient to look for a product or ask about it. I had an unpleasant and distasteful conversation with the manager at the South Edmonton branch concerning this issue. He was untruthful and spoke to me in a disrespectful manner. In my second conversation with the store's administration, another manager gave me the same unpleasant impression. Is HR intentionally hiring managers like this? This is outrageous. I needed a new car battery desperately. Now most places offer free installation when you purchase their in store battery . However Canadian Tire charges .. and by that I mean they charge one hour shop rate for a 15 minute job. The " book " says 45 minutes .. Once all said and done , my receipt was 10 pages !!!! Can we waste more paper !!!! My battery was $170 , labour , shop fees , taxes etc was $140... Almost the cost of the battery itself !!! I guess is if your stuck , you're stuck . There is no need to charge that much at all. Even the guy behind the counter said ' my buddy in the back did it. It was very quick " .. 10 minutes and done ! Speaking of staff behind the counter .. 4 of them . One on the phone , one on the computer..the other two standing around. Then there's one at the register.. considering how quiet it was , this was a lot of them standing around. I didn't have time to walk around much to check out the rest of the store but it's nice they have a lounge to sit in while you wait Their old location on Calgary Trail was a mess and a big rip off. Obvious that hasn't changed except it is cleaner and bigger . Never getting any auto repair done there. Finding another auto center will save you $140 if you need a new car battery!!! read more

This is the go to Canadian Tire store in the City. It is by far the biggest and will carry some items that the others do not. It's on 2 levels and huge! When it first opened it was very busy but I find these days that it isn't always jammed packed with shoppers. I may miss the busiest times for shopping perhaps but I usually go later in the evening the last few hours it is open it seems. You will see some cool things here. There is a 2 story LED screen that shows off some of their sporting equipment usually. Upstairs they have some big Lego displays, like a life-size hockey player. I like that the store is big and open and fairly easy to navigate. Aisles are nice and wide. The parking lot is very big and has a nice raised pedestrian cross walk which helps the mobility challenged and also slows traffic in the lot. read more

Here's a humiliating experience for you. I just got back from a Canadian Tire store on Kingsway Road, Edmonton, where I was escorted out by two security guards. And why? Because according to them, Canadian Tire has a strict no-bicycle policy, and I was there with my road bike. A very odd claim indeed, because I often go to other Canadian Tire locations in Edmonton with my bike, and was never asked to leave the store because of that. This whole unpleasant experience is even stranger due to the fact that when the guards approached me, I was on my way to the cashier to buy the saddle cover that was in my hand. Needless to say, I didn't end up buying that product; instead, I handed it over to one of the guards and left the store, feeling very humiliated. This store is huge... and that means that it has a LOT of variety of things for sale. While the automobile service centre can be rather busy, they also have a quick service centre in the parking lot for oil changes and other brief service queries. As for the stock in the store, there's a lot of variety and options. I do like the toy section especially as there are often awesome Lego displays. This store also has free wifi which is nice especially when waiting for auto service to be completed. read more

This store is AMAZING. So big you could get lost in it and you likely will because there is almost no one there to help you find what you are looking for. While they likely have what you need and at a decent price you won't find in a reasonable time. It's unfortunate because I do like to shop Canadian, and this store makes me want to shop here. They hire a nice greeter, the store is clean, they have lots of registers and lots of stock. But, I like service. I like to be able to find someone to talk to when I want service. Maybe, it's just me. And, now they are doing construction in the parking lot to make what looks like a gas station. You would have thought that they would have done that at the same time as building the entire building and not force customers to have to deal with more construction debris again. This Canadian Tire is kind of fun to visit, just for novelty of going to the biggest Canadian Tire in Canada. The store is huge, although I'll be honest it wasn't like, "oh no I can't find my way out and I'm lost" kind of big. Maybe because it's so open (unlike say going Ikea where you're twisting and turning from one section to another). I digress. I came here looking for a father's day gift. At the door I was greeted by a greeter, who, unlike the greeters at Walmart, seemed pretty happy to be there. I said I was just browsing and made my way upstairs, because I just wanted to wander. If you go up the escalator by the entrance be warned when you get upstairs you'll be going in front of the cash tils (past the security beeper things). Speaking of security there was a lot at this store. Maybe because its so new. Upstairs is the camping/hunting/fishing section, as well as sports and kids toys. For a Candian Tire they had a fairly large selection of kids toys, although no where near the variety of going to a Toys R US. There is a giant lego statue hockey player. That was cool. The sports section was also heavily focused on hockey. There were hockey jerseys on display, a hockey table game (the ones like a foosball table, but for hockey) and this practice area where you could practice your slapshot (you had to ask a sales person to get that). I'm not a hockey player, but for those who play hockey it seemed to be pretty hooked up. I went to the camping section and was a little disappointed in the prices. A fliptop coleman cooler that held 20 cans of beer (or soda) was $32, which was the exact same price as a coleman cooler holder 48 cans of beer (or soda). You'd think there would be some kind of difference in price. I didn't really check out the downstairs area (which had the automotive, kitchen, home renovation/decor, and gardening section). I did go down to the free wifi lounge, which is an area downstairs by the second set of escalators (in the middle of the store), consisting of a few couches and vending machines, and a hot wheels race track (that some kids were really excited about). The free wifi zone is a pretty nice touch. Canadian Tire isn't the kind of store I really go to (unless I'm looking for something specific like motor oil). The store itself is big, and pretty cool, but aside from that (and more stock) there isn't any reason for me to come back here over my local Canadian Tire. read more

Rudest location I have been to. Yeah... It's big. Really big. But it's just more of ALL the SAME stuff at every other store. I needed "specialty batteries" for a remote control. They are with the regular batteries...but locked up. I approached the nearest "associate" and her partner (both of whome were likely in their 40's...so they should have known better...). When I asked for access to the batteries they allbut laughed at me and told me I had to see "Customer Service"... Really? For batteries? Maybe they should be kept at Customer service then... Rude people. I'll just buy them somewhere else on principle now. Next was the cashier who didn't speak at all. Unreal. Will I be back?! Eventually. It's Canadian Tire after all. I am pregnant and went in to buy some Christmas presents and there were many people without masks. When I told the customer service representative about them, they said they did not have a mask requirement. So I won't be shopping here again. This place is very large and frightens me a bit. You need to be up for a bit of exercise if you come here, unless you know exactly where to go. It's absolutely massive and fully of delightful Canadian things. I especially love Canadian Tire for household items like toasters, blenders, frying pants, etc. They usually have some wicked sales going on. Their bamboo sheets are also the greatest thing ever. They have someone posted at the door to direct you to whatever item you seek, which I am super grateful for. The checkout line is also fast, considering how many people are usually filtering through this place. Prices are reasonable, parking lot is big, and the location is easily accessible. Cons: I've never had an easy time returning something, even with a receipt. I also hate walking in crowded places, so this store isn't for me. read more

This is the last $$ I will spend at Canadian Tire. Lifelong loyal customer - the only place I shop more is at the grocery store. Got charges $500 to weld a broken exhaust pipe!! 2.5 hours shop time. Maybe it's because I don't get out much, but I really enjoyed going to this store. (I also usually can't go to Canadian Tire because of my allergies, but either due to its massive size or above average ventilation system, what was usually triggered by the service department wasn't such an issue.) I found the display areas huge and incredibly well organized (the retail nut in me loved a well sorted aisle) and the prices and selection within the kids' section was fabulous. Not only was I made to wait almost 5 hours for my winter tires to be put on but they moved my car from the automotive garage to the pit stop without even informing me!!!!!!! Not impressed. My parents bought me a NOMA space heater with cash last june (6months old). Needless to say the low quality product broke down last night. Without the receipt there is nothing this bigillion dollar corporation could do for someone who is freezing in their basement suite living pay cheque to pay cheque. Since when does such a technologically advanced first world country have no way of 'tracking' said purchase any other way than an archaic paper receipt; call it like it is, the corporation will not put work towards anything that is not making them a profit. This place is really a sight that needs to be seen. Where else can you find a Canadian Tire this big? With 2 FLOORS? It has everything that other locations have, but far better selection. I'll be honest, I didn't have time to check out the whole thing, but I'll be back for sure. The aisles are nice and wide, there's never a feeling of being cramped or cluttered and there are tonnes of staff members around to ask questions. The only downside I found is that the washrooms are way at the front of the store, and you have to sneak through the checkouts, without letting people think you're cutting in line. read more

Witnessed a staff member of this store denying access to a customer with a service dog stating "dogs are not allowed in this store" and then telling that person to get out despite the fact it was a service dog wearing its vest. If I could give the service department less than one star I would. Last May, I purchased two all season tires at Canadian Tire in South Common. I had two different all season tires that I had purchased previously the summer of 2016, and needed another two for my summer set. Canadian Tire in South Common did not have the same tires that I already had, but they did have two all seasons that fit my car in stock. I purchased these two, and that day they placed all four tires on my car, and took my winter tires off. In the fall, I opted to go to the Windermere Canadian tire for my tire changeover to winter tires, as south common didn't have any appointments that worked with my work schedule. I was very impressed with the service I've always received in south common, so this spring I decided to go back and have them change my winter tires to my summer set (the very same summer set they installed exactly a year ago). I made an appointment a few days in advance, and arrived at 8:55am (my appointment was at 9:00) and watched them pull my car in immediately. I did not receive a call until 2:58pm, where the gentleman on the phone claimed to had "called and left a message that morning" when I have no previous phone record of them contacting me that day. The guy on the phone proceeded to tell me that I only had two winter tires, and two seasonal tires, so they could not complete the tire changeover. I asked him "so you're saying I have 6 winter tires, and 2 all seasons??" And he begins to tell me that no, I only had 4 winter tires and 2 all seasons. I told him that I know for sure I had 4 tires in my car that morning. He then puts me on hold, and picks up to say "you are correct, you have 4 tires but they're the wrong ones and we will not put them on". I told him that it was the exact same set they had put on for me the year before, which he confirmed that they did the tire changeover for me last May, but he's "not sure which tires". Over and over again he reiterated that I had 2 winter tires, and 2 all seasons, and they refused to put them on. I told him I know for a fact I have a proper set of summer tires, to which he responds "your only two options are to order the same tires you bought last year, or buy two different ones" and at this point we had been back and forth on hold, and half of the stuff he was telling me wasn't making sense. I told him not to continue working on my car, and I would be in later with my boyfriend. Later when my boyfriend and I had gone in, my winter set of tires were on my car, and the lady behind the counter told me she didn't know what was happening, but her service manger would call me in the morning. The next morning the "manager" calls, and tells me that he has not spoken with his tire tech, so he's not sure who was correct. I told him once again that they had sold me two of my tires, and put my tires on for me a year ago. He tries to say that maybe I brought in the wrong tires. I told him that I only have one vehicle with 2 sets of tires, so no, they were the exact same tires as previously. I told him I felt as though they had tried to take advantage of me, as I had gone in alone, and they tried to tell me the "only options I had" was to spend more money on tires at their location. I also told him all I was looking for was an apology for the waste of my day, as I already was planning on going elsewhere, and he told me he's "sorry for the experience but without talking to his tech, he's not sure what's going on" but asked me to email him pictures of my tires "so he could really see who was wrong". That same day, I sent him pictures of my tires, and screenshots of the website where it clearly states all 4 of my tires are all seasons. Over two days later, no reply. I will not be returning, but they did not seem to care in the slightest. Beware of the scam artists behind the service desk who may try to convince you to spend more money than needed. read more

This is totally the kind of store my parents used to drag me to as a kid, then I go my husband would dragging me around looking for car paint. I guess I grew up because I love this place now. I couldn't believe the sheer size of it. You could get lost in there easily. I quite enjoyed the summer displays, set up with different structures for the garden. And, now I want a $5k gazebo with a hot tub in the middle , surrounded by twenty flamingo ornaments. So thanks for the life goals Canadian Tire. Luckily, I didn't need to go to the car section but we went to the camping area and they have so many tents to choose from including ones that you hang from the trees. I never even knew that was a thing. We randomly purchased a tent because one day that snow will melt. They had an awesome selection, and varying prices too. Camping for everyone! There is a large hunting section for those who are into that. I'm not but if I was this is the place to shop for fishing rods or crossbows. One thing I didn't expect was the giant Darth Vader waving to you as you travel on the escalator to the second floor. Which BTW be careful if you are taking kids cos there is a lego aisle, star wars section, a zillion bouncy balls of varying sizes and inflatable water parks for your yard. The sales assistant really engaged with our kid about camping and tents and got her super excited for summer. It was a surprisingly great shopping experience. read more

My daughter an adult went to this location to purchase my Christmas present and was accompanied by another adult, however my daughter was not allowed to enter the store because she was wearing a very small backpack. She explained that she had medical items within it, also it contained her credit cards, ID, and money and she could not leave it behind their counter. she told the person on the door that they could check her small backpack upon leaving but that was not allowed. This person at Canadian Tires door allowed people with large baby bags, large purses etc. In. Yes, I understand that business can allow whoever's they like into the store, however it should the same for everyone - include all bags, not just backpacks. In other words by turning my adult daughter away because she wore a small backpack the message that Canadian Tire said - anyone that carried a backpack what ever size is small or large - you are a potential thief. Do NOT NOT NOT (I repeat, NOT) buy trees at Canadian Tire. I bought three trees this spring - a pear tree that became visibly infected with a likely fungal infection, which I should've suspected beforehand as they had pruned many branches to try and hide the fact and contain the infection. Thankfully they took the tree back. This wasn't the only fruit tree I noticed with visibly pruned branches, some of the trees looking like a chopped-up shadow of their old selves. Two birch trees I purchased did not take at all, as the roots were so wrapped around the rootball of the tree that I don't know if even an experienced arborist could save it. Save your money, avoid the trees here; visit a nursery even if you have to pay more (or probably less!) as they would know better how to take care of what they're selling. Don't make the mistake of a newb like me - avoid Canadian Tire's trees. read more

I went to the auto parts center where I relied on the professional advice of the customer service representative to purchase lug nuts for my vehicle. The CSR looked up the part in the system and gave it to me, which I took to be the correct size. However, they were smaller than they should have been and ended up stripping the studs on 3 of my wheels(15 studs). The threading is damaged and I cannot even get my original lug nuts back on. I am currently driving without several nuts, which refused to go back on, until I am able to get into a shop for repairs, putting myself at risk. When I spoke to the same CSR on my return, he admitted he gave me the wrong size. James Varley, the general manager of Canadian Tire South Common, was very little help and stated it was my fault for the damages. As customers, we ask for assistance from the parts staff who are supposed to be trained and knowledgeable. In this case, the representative who helped me admitted after the fact that it was indeed his mistake for providing me with the wrong parts. James was very condescending, not understanding or helpful and very argumentative. Now, Canadian Tire is making me pay for the damages I've sustained from receiving the wrong parts which will now cost me a few hundred dollars, when it should've been an easy $30 part. I trusted the professional expertise of the staff to help me purchase the right parts, which turned out horribly and now I'm left to fend for myself. read more

Two floors of Canadian Tire awesomeness! This Canadian Tire location is possibly the largest Canadian Tire store in Canada! I have been here numerous times. As you walk in the store they have a greeter who welcomes you to the store. They have tv's with Canadian tire ads or the weather displayed usually. I have been here numerous times for Camping equipment, Christmas decorations, and other items for the house. They have a larger selection of items than other Canadian tire stores due to it's size. I usually never leave empty handed. The first floor is dedicated to Automotive, House hold items, and seasonal which is Christmas or summer merchandise. The Second floor is Camping and Sports. I could spend all day in the camping aisles as well as the sports section with their selection of equipment for Baseball and Hockey. They frequently have advertised sales which ads to the value of your shopping trip. This location also just opened a Gas Station and their Garage for car repair. I can definitely see myself returning to this store over and over and over and over again read more

Went to CT on Jan 20th/2016 to fix a puncture. After a 2-hr wait they told me that the tire can't be fixed and I need a new one. Oh, by the way, you have a 4-wheel drive so we have to put 4 new tires, and you need a wheel alignment and please take a replacement insurance - total of $2,300. I said no. Went to Sandy Lane and they fixed my tire for $50. And offered to wash my car. read more

Horrible service -- I went in for a quick replacement of a signal light bulb, and they provided me with a list/quote of repairs that were needed (whilst my car was up on a hoist (?!?!?). We arrived at Canadian Tire at 11:30-11:40 a.m. to have our winter tires removed and have new tires put on. We looked at their display tires for about 10 minutes then spoke to an associate to say we wanted all weather tires. We gave him our tire size and was informed that they had them in stock. We said okay, agreed to their warranty, asked for nitrous and a wheel alignment. We were given a price, agreed and told it would be bout 2 hours. We had no other vehicle to go home, and they don't offer a shuttle service so we decided to walk around the complex. An hour and a half later my husband received a text to confirm his contact information. He noted they had misspelled his name. We returned to the auto section to correct their error and then were informed that they didn't have the tires we wanted. We were frustrated as we had been waiting a little over an hour and a half, with no contact from them. Had we not come in to correct my husbands name, how long would we have waited. We chose another brand of tires, not all weather like we wanted. Then we were told it would be another 2 hours. After an hour and 20 minutes our car had its tires replaced. Then it sat. We approached the associate and said to cancel the alignment as we had already been stuck here for over 3 hours. He left then came back and said our alignment could be completed in 30-40 minutes, we agreed. 50 minutes later our car was ready and the only thing they would do for us for our inconvenience was to take $25.00 off our almost $900.00 bill. Almost 5 hours stuck in a Canadian Tire, leaving without the product we really wanted and only being compensated $25.00. Will not be going there for any other service. read more

So, my first time coming here was an experience. Never have I seen a place so huge! Wow! However, I can tell you that my experience was to be desired... Bought the husband some new skates, gloves and a stick on December 28. The prices were reasonable for what we got, seeing that the shelves were pretty picked and my husband has weird sized feet. There isn't much room at all to sit down and try on skates. We waited for about 15 minutes, before people actually moved. If you are sitting on the two seated bench, please don't spread out. Also, if the sh*t don't fit, put it back! There was a gentleman who was trying to get skates for two younger kids. Needless to say, they have zero respect and left a huge pile of skates everywhere. It was also very hard to spot anyone that actually worked there. I assume that the cluster of younger-looking people in red shirts are employed by CT, but you'd never know it. Also, to some other younger-looking employees in red shirts.... we can hear you talking about (and I quote) "The idiots that are returning their gifts". I'd really rather not go into this store again. The service was just pure garbage. read more

The man I talked to was very lovely and let me speak, he spoke to the manager at my local store and agreed to cover the cost of the part and labour. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! They ripped me off SO bad. 1.Dident top up transition fluid after fixing transmittion... 2.Dident put sticker for next oil change in window. 3.Dident do any check list 4. THIS MAD ME THE MADDEST: they said they went through the hole car and everything was fine i checked the air filter today a few weeks later and they never even checked it as there are rocks in the air filter ( i just bought it and trusted that they would do the work I paid for) 5. I got them to do a seasonal tire change and when I checked the air pressure NONE OF THE TIRES WERE THE SAME. 6. There was also a cable hanging under my car when I bought it thought they would fix it as it would have took 2 minutes but they never even touched it or mentioned it. I wonder if my oil change was even done or I wonder if they even changed my fuel filter becuase they didn't do anything else they were supposed to. I feel so ripped off very very mad when i called there was no manager in the store so I am waiting what they are going to say.
