Sadly, even though the store is bigger, it still lacked a lot of the popular items as I guess the items are sold out just as quick which means there is a lot of traffic but still have a good amount of variety. I don't remember seeing self checkouts there. Perhaps it is not needed but I feel they need to add it to make the checkout faster and also not having to wait for a staff to show up to check people out. This Dollarama is conveniently located in a plaza with lots of restaurants and even a Service Ontario, and even a No Frills, at next door plaza which means can kill a few birds with one stone when needing to run many errands :) The parking lot is huge and there is sufficient parking. This plaza has my local ServiceOntario, where I have posed for my driver's licence mugshot over the years. This plaza also has a Dollarama that has been here for as long as I can remember. I decided to pay it a visit last Wednesday evening. On Thursday, my department had a virtual lunch. It was my suggestion to hijack our regular weekly meeting to ban chatting about work and have lunch with the team virtually. I managed to convince my colleagues to order takeout. It worked! Being on video (I'm not a fan in general, but I'm okay sacrificing my face for lunch and chatting about non-work-related stuff for an hour), I felt that I needed a Santa hat to get into the festive spirit. I knew that I could rely on Dollarama for my needs. It did not fail. Let's talk about parking. There are lots of parking spots in this plaza. Some of them are extremely roomy, like the one that I was parked at. I swung my driver's side door wide open and had another foot between my door and the car next to me. Yay! Dollar stores are deemed essential during this pandemic and remain open. The prime reason is that they offer food and drinks. Naturally, there were a number of customers shopping when I was there. I immediately looked for the Christmas section. I found it easily! There were lots of Santa hats to choose from. There was the traditional one that I ultimately got. One had two white braids going down either side. Another had antlers. I loved the elf hat with huge ears. The problem is that it didn't accommodate my huge head. Luckily, the traditional one did for a whopping $1.25. The aisles are long in this store. They stretch from where the cashout area is at the front to the very back before you hit the employee area. So, everyone seemed to ignore the arrows on the floor in each aisle. If you were at at aisle where you saw an item, but it meant walking down another aisle and back up to take a closer look at it, most chose to ignore what you should do in favour of convenience. This store is a fascinating place to observe how humans behave. If I didn't have errands to run, I would have found a chair and watched people for a good half an hour. Between Dollarama and Dollar Tree, I like the latter more before everything is the same price. Dollarama varies its prices based on the type of item. So, is it truly a dollar store by definition? Maybe it should change its name to Dollars-rama instead. I do enjoy getting candy here. I got two white chocolate KitKat bars and they were delicious and cheap. The snacks section is pretty impressive. This store has garlic naan, which I don't often see at Dollarama. Perhaps this area has more South Asian folks that this store is being accommodative. It's cool. I lined up to pay for my items. There were two cashiers working that evening. The woman behind me was standing way too close to me. My staring at her and the marker on the floor did not do a thing. She was oblivious, as was the woman behind her standing inches away. It's not an issue with the store, but with people who don't get it. Anyway, I got a nice male cashier who helped get me on my way. My items cost me $6.66. I joked that perhaps I should get another item. He laughed. I used my debit card and all was great. I didn't need a bag and wished him a good evening as I headed to my car. It's a decent Dollarama. Other than folks not physically distancing as well as they should in the store, I'd return because the selection is perfect for my needs. (448)

During the current time of COVID-19, I did find this store a bit more spacious, a bit more clean, and a bit more organized than what I'm used to seeing at the other stores. At the 'scan-it-yourself' check-out point, you're to wait behind 'the guideline' for an associate to direct you to a clean and sanitized terminal...unlike the other stores. The only thing that needs improvement was the dairy/egg/milk area. I avoided it and only let the wife grab what we needed from that section, because there was a bit of over-crowding and no social-distancing involved. That got me concerned and it was only mid-morning at the time. Perhaps, either they widen that space somehow - or just have an associate or two limit the amount of foot traffic during peak times in that area, like how they do at the entrance.

There is so much selection that I barely got through reading half the magazine titles. I love the cookbooks. I want them all! From keto to vegan, there's something for you. I still don't understand the need to wear reading socks. You can buy those here, too. My friend did manage to buy something. We waited in line a bit before she got to pay. All was well. There were plenty of Christmas items on sale. They were at least 30% off the regular price. Although it was busy on a Saturday, I can see it being a good place to unwind and read. It has a built-in Starbucks. Surprisingly, I did not go in. I will next time. Parking is crazy by this bookstore. However, it's not impossible to get a decent parking spot. You see the price vary depending on the item that you're getting. You can get sandwich bags with the zipper seal for $1.25. A roll of aluminum foil will cost you $3. Prices are still decent. I've heard that the most expensive item these days will set you back $5. I have yet to buy anything for that price. I bought something for my plant a while back that was $4.25. I like getting tissue paper for gift bags and the gift bags themselves. They are cheap and of decent quality. The snacks are also amazing. I am seeing more sugar-free options these days, but they are still outnumbered by chocolate bars and hard candy that are highly sugary. I have bought lightbulbs from Dollarama in the past. It didn't set my house on fire. One of them recently died. It was an LED. I can't recall how long I have been using it. It was definitely for a few years. Last Saturday, I was hoping to drop by this store and shop. It's not worth attempting a visit on weekends. This store is next to the Mandarin, where families like to gather and enjoy the buffet. All parking spots in this vicinity were taken up. It likely explains why I don't shop here as often than I used to. There's a Dollar Tree a couple of minutes away that never has an issue with parking. I tend to like the variety of products that it offers, including bagel seasoning and sugar-free beverages. Everything about this particular store is organized, and I find this store carries a lot more of the $3 items that are actually worth that much (e.g: huge collections of shampoo and body/hand wash). The cashiers here are also efficient and actually smile and greet at you, despite them being paid the amount they are paid. This store gets somewhat busy around 5-6pm as business workers do come in to buy some last-minute items, which makes sense as it is located in an almost purely residential area.
