My boy has been going to daycare at Canal Bark since January, 2025. He just had his first overnight experience. They do an amazing job caring for the animals in their care.They can tell me how my dog did with his stay, whether it be daycare or overnight. They are tuned in to the dogs, they know each specific dog and their behavior, and they spend a lot of time interacting with the dogs. My dog loves going to Canal Bark! He is one who is very social and loves everybody and every dog, and loves to play. He can't get in the door fast enough when we go there, and he is always happy to greet the girls at the desk and bark at them if they don't take him fast enough. So, obviously he is being well cared for and treated well when he is there or he would not be so eager to go. He absolutely loves his time there. I like how everyone there is in tune to the individual dogs and can give you specifics on how my dog's time there went. Everything is always clean, and my dog always comes home calm and happily tired. I have always been one who finds it very difficult to leave my dog in someone else's care, but Canal Bark has always taken great care of him! They keep him safe, happy, and loved while in their care, which this dog mom truly appreciates!! They are the best, and you can tell that they are all dog lovers! read more

I was super thankful when Canal Bark opened because it's the first modern, state of the art day care and boarding business in the area. The owners made really forward thinking decisions not only about operations but facility design focusing on the physical and mental health and well being of dogs. This includes things like time playing sensory games and small group play. The staff they have hired and trained are fantastic and really keep your pet's needs in mind, getting to know each special guest. My dog Hugo loved going there and always came home happy (and frequently exhausted from play)! The main location near the Duluth airport is also super convenient for those of us with lots of out of town trips. I highly recommend Canal Bark! read more

We have boarded our dog here many times now and it's the only place we will take him at this point. He loves Canal Bark! He runs right to the door to go in the back tail wagging. It gives us so much peace of mind when we travel knowing he is somewhere he is happy, safe and well cared for. We love that they offer the option of additional play times and the puppy post card to let us know what he has been doing while we were away. We also highly recommend the grooming services. Shiba Inus can be very difficult and generally hate having their feet touched. Other groomers have struggled with our dramatic boy but Mo is a true professional and does an amazing job with him every time. I really can't recommend Canal Bark enough. read more

I love Canal Bark! And so does my dog! My little Chihuahua/Terrier mix is a regular for doggy day care and she is so excited when I drop her off that she jumps into my lap when we pull into the parking lot! The staff is terrific - caring, knowledgeable and they really get to know your dog very well. They love your dog almost as much as you do - truly they are dedicated to making sure your pet is happy and comfortable. I don't think twice leaving my dog to board there because I know that she is being well cared for, physically and emotionally. Can't recommend them highly enough! read more

The best. For five years we've been using the boarding service at Canal Bark. Our Cavachon loves this place! The staff are caring and attentive. We don't have to wonder how she's doing, because every day they email us a "report card" with photos and a description of what she does and how her behavior & disposition were that day. She's happy to come home, and she's happy to go back the next time. And it's worth noting is how exceptionally clean it always is there. read more

We have been taking our dogs to Canal Bark since they opened for doggie day care (2x week) and for boarding while on vacations. Our dogs run in the front door when we get there - they love it there! The staff is very aware of the dog's needs and respond to our requests in a timely manner! When we had our cat she went there also for boarding. We've had no issues at all. Canal Bark is one of, if not the very best boarding kennel we have used in 30 years of boarding dogs. The management and staff are knowledgeable, thorough, enthusiastic and very caring. We love Canal bark for our two large dogs Oslo and Odin. they love the staff and all the attention they get and of course all the new doggie friends they meet during their stay. My dog and I were greeted with kindness and patience when I dropped her off. I got texts and a good report card about her stay and her behavior!
