This is a cute little spot! It definitely screams small town shop. It is so small inside you can probably only fit 8 people inside to order. They have a decent bit of flavors. The classics. But I liked they had lots of sherbet flavors. Orange, rainbow, raspberry and mango. The girl working inside was alone but she worked fast. It was a little warm inside. The prices were not too expensive. They have a little outdoor seating area on the river. I will say all the sherbet flavors were so good! Some do have dairy in them. read more

Great hard ice cream and a cute waterfront scenery. There aren't too many ice cream options but there are just enough. I got the vanilla with peanut butter (it had a cool name but i forget). There are plenty of picnic tables to sit and enjoy the view. Also they accept cards which is convenient. Definitely worth checking out if you can find close enough parking. Cute little ice cream shop overlooking the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. We had family in town from Alabama and stopping in Chesapeake City to explore the shops and have some ice cream was our last little jaunt while we were in Maryland before heading back home to Pennsylvania. Everyone loved their ice cream but I am knocking off one star because I have had better Almond Joy style ice cream elsewhere (okay, only one other place that has since closed). How can you not love a place that has a little sculpted cow on its front bricks and a giant ice cream cone on a chalkboard inside? This adorable ice cream and baked good shop, with its floral curtains looks like an old fashioned ice cream parlor. And old fashioned ice cream it serves, sourced by a local farm, Kilby's and another I could not remember. This is not the high fat, premium ice cream or gelato you get in some gourmet ice cream store for $5 a mini scoop but the good, tasty, homemade, creamy type you got as a child. Think Stouffers, a better quality Breyers...We had the chocolate mixed with coffee/chocolate chip, and the peach. My friend was disappointed in the peach, not creamy enough or enough peach flavor. The chocolate/mocha was much better, and interestingly enough, the mocha was sweeter than the chocolate. After a bad lunchtime meal, this ice cream went down smooth. At $2.49 a small scoop, which was a medium by NY standards, it was cheap. I don't know what Kathy M was talking about unless prices have dropped. Maybe she ordered a triple sundae. The service here is exceptional, friendly and super eager and they ramp up the charm of the creamery. I noticed this with almost all the young people who served us as we drove and visited this area...they were all nice,friendly and enthusiastic about their jobs...OMG, are these the Stepford kids? They were, I am sure, just the lovely children of all those wonderfully sweet MD people we encountered on this trip. All joking aside, when I went back in to request napkins, the server ran over to me with a stack in hand rather than just point out the napkin box. Hey, give this girl a raise! Outside Canal Creamery are benches you can take your cone to and lick while you gaze at the boat activity on the canal and get a view of the D&G bridge. I was told years ago the canal was only 14 feet wide and someone widened it to the expanse it is now. Damn, you mean someone actually chose trade over dessert so the poor Chesapeake City residents at the other side have to cross a bridge for their ice cream? Shameless. read more

I was looking for an interesting place to take my daughter as we celebrated an early Father's Day and picked Chesapeake City. Since we met earlier in the day for breakfast, I searched for a place where we could enjoy an afternoon snack and picked the Canal Creamery. Tasty ice cream with a killer view - what's not to like? The sugar-free butter pecan was really good and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her two-flavor selection as well. The service was friendly and we will definitely return. read more

Just stopped here for the first time after an afternoon of very casual crab eating at the Tap Room. I always seem to crave chocolate after eating crabs and I'm so glad I found this place. The ice cream is made from milk from a local dairy/farm and the flavors are unique, I had the mudslide (chocolate, caramel, coffee) delicious. Everything is hand dipped and the service was a little slow, but worth the wait. It was a beautiful day and they provide plenty of outdoor seating right on the water. Lucky for us there was a band outdoors at the Bayard house next door and we were able to enjoy the music. I will definitely go again. read more

Best ice cream! You MUST stop here if you come to Chesapeake City. We got a s'mores milkshake and it was by far the best we have ever had (and we have been to a lot of places!). I would like to write a review of what it was and not of what it was however I have walked around and around the building through out the year and at various times of the day, I have never seen a person inside the shop, nor are hours posted on the doors, walls, or windows. There is no way to call them... I would like to try the Kilby creamery ice cream they claim to offer. But it seems to be candy on the dirt . If there is a business open up please! read more

Highly recommend leaving room for a treat from this cute and yummy shoppe. We enjoyed a scoop of cookies and cream, as well as a vanilla milkshake. The location is right on the water, so you can enjoy watching the boat traffic on the canal, while taking in the fresh air. Lovely spot! read more

What a great little shop. As you stroll around the charming little town, absolutely plan to stop here. The ice cream is a real treat. Right now, some of their fall flavors are in. The Ginger Snap is "killer". Our group sampled the Pumpkin, Key Lime Pie, the Ginger Snap and the Caramel Apple. There are other classics in there as well like Butter Pecan, Peach and Strawberry Cheesecake. While you are there, it's a must do. read more

Wow! All I can say was excellent service, great view, excellent ice cream, excellent price... EXCELLENT! When I was there today the weather was perfect and the view was delightful. The young man with black/brown hair who took care of me was friendly, kind, helpful and more importantly respectful. I am not sure what his name was but, he was wonderful with helping us decide our ice cream and helping us even with the door when we left the ice cream shop. (You don't except this from most teenage boys) No other ice cream place gives you the experience that me and my family received. There was a younger girl working with him at the time and she was as helpful and respectful as him. (She was helping other customers for a majority of the time, so I have more to say about him) There was a blonde young man working with them as well but, my only negative comment, the blonde young man was not as welcoming, helpful and respectful as the other two workers. (He really didn't do much... Actually nothing) At the end of the day great prices, excellent service and delicious ice cream, cookies, milkshakes and so much more!!!!! I am still giving a five star review even though one of their employees wants to the standard most would expect. At the end of the day it was excellent! The two young workers could even handle the long lines.. I wonder why there is a long line.... Maybe all the delicious food, great environment and the wonderful service. The wait was also perfect. Five stars.... With the workers it was no longer a delicious treat it was an experience and the young man with brown/black hair made that happen :) I encourage you all to go!! Stopped in here while watching the sunset and waiting for a table at the Chesapeake Inn. The ice cream was mediocre. I got a sugar cone of chocolate pretzel. The ice cream was more like ice milk. Not really creamy at all. There were noticeable ice crystals throughout. The cone and the chocolate pretzels were good though. Their location must be the only reason they are all in business. I can't imagine they have much repeat business. read more
