First night here in Duluth and we needed simple and good food! The atmosphere is your normal brewing company with plenty of conversations loudly buzzing throughout the restaurant, bar semi filled with out of towners (dead give away when they are all rocking Moorehead Hockey gear) and upbeat moving staff. We settled in two sodas and cheese curds to kick off our evening. They were good and we liked them but beer batter ...in a brewery...would make them even better. Plus cheese curds are cheese curds. Main courses ummmm if you get a chance or need some comfort food get the stuffed meatloaf. It's almost like a meatloaf stuffed sausage. Fricken AMAZING! I got the Lobster Shrimp Salad sandwich. The salad was reallllllly good only fall was the toast it came on...not the right combo. Maybe lightly toast and something smaller. I'd love to meet the person that can fit this monster in their mouth. Our server was a joy, even though Nate (my better half) was a little hangry, she still rocked it!!! I like sours and IPAs most and found the flight of four of these to be ~meh~ aside from the peach sour which was a Georgia version of mango cart (lip smack chef's kiss). Was in town for a funeral and we needed a group table for 12. Centrally located on Canal Street its a prime location in Duluth and their is ample seating. Has lettuce wraps and pretzel appetizers with a flight of beers made on the premise. Daily offerings are on the chalkboards above your head and they have canned beer to go which is a bonus. The party swelled from 12 to 25 and our server was incredibly gracious and chill as family was arriving for the service the following day. Our group samples the sliders (add bacon) the mango habanero burger, tacos, a couple of the salads and the walleye. The food was really good, the place has a good vibe and besides a couple of rougher locals it was a great night for all. No one wants their kids hearing inappropriate stories from Duluth's finest but when in Duluth :) Awesome eatery we will be back read more

Super nice folks working here, nice beer (only 4 to choose from which rotates) and a great location to enjoy the outside or inside if you want . Now the problem.....the food, the special Hamburger Tidehaus is nothing more than a 6 oz burger with fried onions and A1 steak sauce on it, (anything else is extra tomato's lettuce etc...) served with a few thinly sliced fry's. The Fish and Chips is a 4-5inch piece of fish served in 12 inches of breading. No one at my table completed their food due to the lack of taste and or the greasy texture. I came to Canal Park for a post-snowtubing adventure on a super chilly weekend and this place was packed! We waited about 30 minutes for our table. The waitress was super sweet and friendly. I like their drink menu, they tell a story of each of the beers/ciders. Our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the Northcoaster burger and it was pretty solid! I really love this restaurant in Duluth. It is definitely a staple restaurant in Canal park. I arrived there a little later, so I got to try the pizza from the late night menu and then I ordered a beer flight. The stony IPA was so refreshing and the sausage and pepperoni pizza on gluten-free and cauliflower crust was actually really good. I also paired the pizza with a side of ranch and it tasted phenomenal. There is tons of indoor seating at this establishment and in the summer it is very open with lots of outdoor seating. Canal Park Brewing just wasn't the same as my first visit. It's overpriced for the portion sizes and service was slow. Although the food was tasty, their were some downfalls. I ordered the turkey club, which was tasty, with chips. $14 for the sandwich and a fistful of chips. My friend got chicken nachos. The plate was so small and the toppings were skimpy. We also ordered bloody Mary's, which were flavorful and had nice garnishes, but there were so many black peppercorns in the mix that with every sip you got a mouthful of peppercorns. We had a plate dedicated to the peppercorns we had to spit out. Yuck. That will probably be my last visit to Canal Park Brewing for awhile. Maybe once the patio is open and they have their Bloody Mary bar back (with some peppercorn-less mix) I will return. read more

It was crowded, so we had to put in our name and wait a little bit before we got our table. The place isn't too big and the acoustics aren't great, but it has a nice location on Lake Superior. This spot was a great way to end our vacation on the south shore. We wanted a final whitefish experience before we turned south to Missouri. This was just what we needed. The fish & chips reminded my wife of her time in London, said if it had been wrapped in a newspaper she said she may not have been able to tell a difference (hint, hint CPB!). Great brewery with a great variety of apps and food! We actually went twice when we were in Duluth because we enjoyed it so much. I had both the Dos Puertos Mexican lager and Clear Waters Cream ale and both were great. The honey sriracha wings were also yummy- hint of spice and not too sweet. Fish and chips were perfect with the lakeside view, and nachos came in large portions. The cheesecurds came with a chipotle ranch which I wasn't a fan of (the ranch was watery), but overall a great spot with a lot of patio seating. We were traveling through Duluth and we're looking for a new place for dinner. We found Canal Park brewing and loved everything we tried. I had the jalapeño burger and it was delicious. I ordered the onion rings side, and they were great. Huge onions... not just batter. My spouse got a burger as well, with a side of fries. They were not like ordinary fries. Ugh. AVOID. Sad and mediocre at best. You can do way better in Duluth. We went and ordered takeout and shared a flight while we waited for our food. We intended to choose a crowler to bring home, but none of the beers were anything to write home about. Nothing was offensive, just kind of meh. The Dunkel was best of the 4, but not good enough to take home. The food was a different story- nearly everything was offensive. We were pleased they offered Beyond Burgers, but my husband said it was prepared very blandly and soggy. The fries were the only thing that were OK. The fish tacos were HORRIBLE! I am someone who lives for fish tacos, and these were so terrible I ended up picking the fish out and throwing the rest away. And even the fish tasted like frozen fish sticks. The tortillas were tough and hard, like they'd been microwaved. And there was old, dried out, plain white rice in the bottom of the taco, under a layer of spicy coleslaw which left me hoping I don't get food poisoning. I would definitely not recommend eating here, and there are so many great breweries that there's no reason to go for the beer, either. The $$$ price tag only added insult to injury. read more

I consider us, my wife and myself brewery regulars. We were there last summer, yes, late yelp. Went to the bar for a beer, long wait, slow staff. Only to get a pint glass filled an inch from the top. I asked them to please top it off, as I paid for a pint, and I want a pint. The beer puller pointed to a poster on the wall calling it a "fair pour". Are you utterly out of your minds. I have been to breweries from here to Timbuktu, and never ONCE EVER, have I had a "fair pour" poster pointed at by staff, nor have I ever had a beer pulled that's been a full inch from the top of the glass with almost no head. Zero stars. Do NOT waste your time. The beer I had, additionally, was mediocre at best. Go to Hoops brewing or Castle Danger.. must better places.. with better staff and more friendly staff. We didn't eat there, we just left as quickly as possible. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Avoid. read more

My family and I visited Duluth a few months ago and were walking around the Canal Park area. We were having the hardest time finding a place to eat lunch that didn't look like a restaurant that reheated Sysco food, and that had decent prices. We were about to gige up and go back to buy groceries when this place appeared, like a godsend. We were seated inside pretty soon after we arrived and when we opened our menus, the one thing I immediately noticed was the lack of walleye on the menu. As I no longer live in the state, I was disappointed that they didn't have that on the menu. Seriously, no one in DC knows what walleye is! However, this drew me to try their Juicy Lucy, which was hands-down amazing. Overall the menu was trendy and tasty--we got pulled pork fries as an appetizer, a juicy lucy with white cheddar, yellow cheddar and smoked gouda. Another family member did end up getting the fish and chips, and they were tasty! Still wish they were walleye. Tried the "loon juice" cider which was a bit too much like juice for my taste, but the nut hatchet brown ale is worth a try! They also sell merchandise here and honestly, i wear all the time the long sleeve tshirt I bought. It looks nice and it's so comfy!!
