Boomtown is the go-to restaurant for a group of my cycling friends. Over the years, we have ordered about 3/4 of what's on the menu. We really like the burgers, tacos, steak and chicken salads, and the roasted Brussels sprouts. The quality is consistent, and the few times something hasn't come out quite right, they will fix it quickly with no complaints. This can happen anywhere, so I judge restaurants by their service recovery. They get 5 stars for sure. We don't generally get dessert, but when we have, they were big enough for 3-4 people, at least for our group. If they have a weak spot in our opinion, desserts are probably it. But we're not the best folks to judge that one, as it's not our primary focus. Lots of people order them for sure. As for service, it's also solid - and if you are lucky enough to get Manda as your server, you are in for a real treat. She is a gem - so bubbly, so competent, and so thoughtful. And while this has nothing to do with the outstanding service she provides, I will note that her eyes always look stunning - and if you ask, she'll tell you where to get the eyeshadow she's wearing as well! Lots of free parking, usually no trouble getting a table in the restaurant section if the bar area is full (that's our face location). Worth checking out. read more

We love Boomtown. They have a wide variety of foods , and I highly recommend Buffalo Shrimp. They have a huge variety of tap beers and most of the foods have a paired beer listed next to them. The service is super friendly and the place always seems to be hopping. It has a nice Northwoods ambience. read more

Something for absolutely everyone! This is a great family restaurant, place to hang with buddies, happy hour joint or a sit-out-on-the-patio place. Boomtown is what you want it to be with good, inventive food. Steak frites are exactly what you want them to be. But the incentive was definitely evident in the super tasty beef skewers. The French onion soup was righteously good. I was very happy with the soup and skewers. The beer was good, too! Sometimes places suffer from trying to be too many things to too many people. Went to boomtown for the first time and thought it was great! We got the brussel sprouts, truffle fries, and a pizza and I would recommend all of them. I keep seeing reviews that say, "if you're by the mall, stop by". . .this is a drive from anywhere in Duluth kinda place, not just a stop by while in the area. It's great to sit outside in summer, great atmosphere to sit in the bar and watch a game, great place to meet friends for bloody's and mimosas on Sunday, and great place to meet up with family. The food is great, the special drink menu and standard drink menu are nice, and the atmosphere is great. We love the fish fry, the prime rib poutine, and appetizers. I don't have anything bad to say! I don't think my ribs were real meat, but more of a McRib consistency. It probably would have fooled me if it wasn't served at less than room temperature. Service was crap. We were looking for a non-chain choice to try out will staying on top of the hill and stumbled across this place. We walked in a weer told they only had two servers for the weekend and decided to wait. First off, hats off to our server. She was only one of two and did great. I decided to try a beer flight while I waited because why not and got a good assortment to try. I really liked the Smoked Scotch Ale, very food brew to try. The blueberry beer was also pretty stellar, it had a very strong berry aroma with light hints of berry throughout. Now on to the food - think trendy bar food. Burgers were very good and satisfying. I think I may have found my new favorite wild rice burger up north, move over Grandma's. It was savory and so so good. I wish the patty was a little more firm but it was great nonetheless. Get it, try it, you will like it. Everyone else around the table liked their grub. It was all good. If you are near the mall, take some time to go out of your way to find this place, it is worth the journey. read more

The waitress casy joe is the most wonderful and amazing person and waitress ever. She will absolutely bend over backwards to do anything to make ur dining experience better. My boyfriend and I stopped into Boomtown for lunch and Boomtown was fairly busy for it being a weekday. I came across Boomtown on Yelp, and I thought it look like a cute cabin-comfort type of place and I wasn't wrong. We had a lovely experience here and would gladly come back in the future. My boyfriend got a Old Time Cheeseburger ($12.95) without cheese & a side of fries and I got the Portobella Prime and subbed mashed potatoes for my side ($16.95). My boyfriend enjoyed his burger - it was made medium well. Their shoe string fries have a light batter on them which made them delightful. Dipping my prime rib sandwich in au jus was a game changer. I loved everything from the tender prime rib to the soft bread. The mash potatoes were a bit greasy, but aside from that, I thought it tasted good with the rest of my meal. There was a wait for the food, but our waitress was great. No complaints whatsoever. Boomtown has a big parking lot, so no worries on finding parking. The restaurant is spacious so feel free to bring larger groups here for dine-in. read more

If you find yourself up over the hill and need a great place for an appetizer and some AMAZING beers, swing into Boomtown on the corner of Rice Lake & Martin Rd...right across from Kwik Trip. We stopped by around 2pm on Wednesday and the place was mostly empty, with just a few tables filled and a couple of folks sitting at the bar. We decided the bar was perfect and sat ourselves. The bartender was so friendly and even gave us a sample of their blueberry and their strawberry beers on tap...a nice touch! Lots of options for appetizers, but We ended up ordering the Boomtown Poutine and a couple of beers. The Poutine came out and was AMAZING! Fresh, hot and crispy fries, tons of pulled pork, tasty gravy and lots and lots of melty mozzarella cheese. It was a huge portion that the 2 of us couldn't finish...but Oh SO good! Food was very good, and our server Ella was awesome for a young lady! Her attention to detail and service was awesome. I watched her and she did not have a minute to catch her breath. My advice to the management team would be to hire or schedule more staff, It was clear that there was not enough staff on hand to deal with the rush that came in just after 5pm. There was young person with blue hair that was utterly useless and appeared not to want to be there and was just wondering around and making a half arsed attempt to look busy whenever the manager was on the floor! Had two very good meals in the past one of which was on a prime rib night. However this past Saturday we looked forward to prime rib. Ordered it but later informed there was a problem. They did offer rib eye as an alternative but it was rather small and not cooked as requested. The food was served without the pop over as was said our dinner would provide. We came for lunch in a a snowy Sunday and they had a live musician playing which really bumped up the experience. I saw a Bloody Mary bar which looked great but I didn't order this time. We shared an appetizer of the pretzel sticks and they were delicious! My kids enjoyed their kids meals and my husband loved his sandwich. My burger was also very good. My husband and I stopped here for lunch while staying at a friends cabin and I am glad we did! We ordered the brisket sandwich and the shrimp tacos. Both were quite good, the tacos I would definitely get again. The brisket was a little dry - it could use some bbq sauce with it.
