Canal Place is beautiful with so many high end shops - an enclosed mall of glass walls. The dressed up drawing of a duck in a gown was a unusual sight on one window. Wonderful seats outside the stores to get your agenda together if u r a tourist like me. The 3 stars is for how cold and unfriendly people were from workers to security guards. I had already bought things from saks after finally locating a salesperson. Saks was very deserted of shoppers and staff. Came here before when I went to New Orleans years ago and this mall was actually better than what it is now. It does have really nice upscale department stores, and a nice movie theater in a decent café but otherwise it's very small and did not have a variety of clothing products to choose from. Very nice mall was good decor inconvenient that was actually right across the street from our hotel but honestly, I don't think I would actually shop there again or rush back here to shop . I feel this place is good to come if you were tourist and check it out and if you do see some good pick it up or purchase it . This mall is fantastic. Don't forget to checkout the Louisiana Crafts Guild gallery upstairs on the 2nd floor. There you will find handmade art by over 300 craftsmen through out the entire state. The prices range from $3 to $6000. There are also many affordable pieces that are priced under $400. Over 50 of the artists are jewelers, which is a perfect addition to this fashion forward mall. They ship nationwide. Grab yourself a coffee from the PJ's downstairs and come check it out. Crew, Louis Vuitton, Saks, Tiffany & Co., and Michael Kors. For things other than shopping, there is a movie theater, a gym, and a barber shop also located here. There is parking on floors 4 through 10 which is unfortunately not free even with or without validation. Most women can relate to this, but when I'm in another city I always feel like I have to buy some piece of clothing or some accessory to take home. So this was no different and I was happy to find this mall while we were out and about in New Orleans. It didn't seem to have very many stores, but it had a J.Crew and an Anthropologie, and that was good enough for me. Unfortunately J crew was closed - there was a makeshift sign on the door that said "I'll be back in 15 minutes" or something like that. That was interesting, I guess only one person was working that day? Anyway I headed to Anthropologie, and I didn't see much, they didn't really have any good sales, so unfortunately I did leave this mall empty-handed but there were some other stores nearby where I found some items. Overall it didn't seem like this mall had a lot of stores that I would be interested in, and it was pretty dead inside, not a lot of people in there, so I didn't really feel the need to return while we were in NOLA. read more

The Canal Place is full of upscale shopping. We popped in for just a few moments when returning to our vehicle. Our parking lot was connected to the Canal Place shops. I made the mistake of first parking in the parking right next to the Canal Place shops and then realized I was in the wrong. While in the shops we did a mini photo shoot in the area close to their elevators. We didn't do much exploring due to time but I hope to return in the future and look around more. Very pretty but boring mall. The only anchor store is Saks 5th Avenue, and then there are high end shops that nobody was in. I believe that there's only one food option - a coffee shop called PJ's. Went today on 2/6/2022 and the whole place was dead, despite it being a Sunday that the Rock n'Roll Marathon was being held at, right around the corner. I saw shop staff that hadn't even taken off their coats - they were sitting on their phones because there was like 5 people walking the entire mall. Do not make an extra trip just to visit here, it's very nice looking but dead. read more

Each time I am in New Orleans I visit the shops in Canal Place. I am more interested in higher end shopping than the flea market. They have MCM and Louis Vuitton and sadly, LV makes you queue up to enter. I know they think this is to better serve clients, but to me, it makes for an arrogant atmosphere (my messenger is from this boutique). I absolutely love the Vineyard Vines and the LuluLemon shops! I collect VV t-shirts with locations on the back, so called prior to my trip to see what was in stock and 'reserve' ones in my size. Awesome experience! LuluLemon's employees are super helpful! This was another great experience, though their stock is depleted. They had to order items for me & have them shipped for free to my home (which turned out not to fit). Saks is really small. Again, their Gucci shop within makes shoppers queue. I think they had just two employees. Their Gucci shoes are upstairs in the shoe department and they have a minuscule selection. Again, they offered to order slides for me, but when home, I can just go to a bigger Gucci in Coral Gables. One of my visits was Christmas Eve day. You would have thought these shops would be packed. Did anyone else local know that Canal Place has one of the biggest Christmas Trees in the whole city?? We did not know that so we were pleasantly surprised when we discovered this amazing, gigantic Christmas tree during our stop by for a visit to Shake Shack (posted a separate review on Shake Shack and then stopped by again for their amazing Truffle burger...so yummy, get one before they disappear!). In addition to the amazing Christmas tree discovery, this mall is full of high end shopping that you can't find anywhere else in the city: Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Vineyard Vines, Tiffany & Co, and other brand favorites like Banana Republic, Anthropologie and LuluLemon. It's also connected to the Westin so makes it easy to shop if you are staying there on a visit to NOLA. One final reco...stop by and support the Prytania Theater too! Canal Place is an upscale mall located in the heart of downtown New Orleans. Stores like Tiffany and Co., Tory Burch, Louis Vuitton, and Saks fill the clean, modern space. This isn't a mall I frequent often, but my daughter likes to window shop here on occasion and I'm always happy to spend some time with her. The staff at every store has always been wonderful and welcoming every time I've stopped in. During COVID they seem to have things figured out. Masks are enforced and worn by all personnel and hand sanitizer is abundant. LV has an alert system to let you know when there is space for you to come inside. They text you when it's your turn. This is so much better than waiting in line like I'm seeing at other malls. Issues: Parking for 1-3 hours was $17 Validation is done in the form of a $7 credit in the parking app that you have to download to use your credit. Pain in the butt if you ask me. Not much to eat inside here during COVID, but the Chinese food we chose was good and fresh. There's a Starbucks inside and a Shake Shack right outside. Sky high prices and not much for the regular folk like myself, but hey, that's just me. You def get what you pay for and they carry top designers and gorgeous things. read more

Compared to the rest of the shopping malls in the New Orleans Metro area, Canal Place would definitely be considered an upscale mall. The mall features such upscale stores Saks, Tiffany, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, Allen Edmonds and Brooks Brothers to name a few. Located on world famous Canal Street at the northern fringe of the French Quarter, it is important for tourism, as it is located in close proximity to all the hotels in the French Quarter and Central Business District. I for one, do not really shop here much, but it's a great place to do some window shopping, as there is a lot of eye candy. My employer provides parking for us in the Westin Canal Place, which is connected to the mall; therefore, I do walk "though" the mall every day on my way to and from work. The food court for the mall is very small with only 2 main options. The Chinese food restaurant is ok. However, the Centre Deli has a hot bar, delicious po-boys (try their hot sausage) and salads; and prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I ate here approximately once per week out of convenience. Parking is not that easy, as the attached garage just switched to Premium Parking that requires every user to download an app on their phone and pay online. Validated parking is still available via the 1st floor mall concierge, but the mobile app has definitely created an added level of aggravation to many. There are only 3 main elevators at the center of the mall and more often than not, one of them is always down for service. When this occurs, getting to and from the garage can take quite a while, especially around 5 PM when the working class are heading to their cars. Lastly, the mall is especially nice during the Christmas holidays, as there is a 30-40 foot tall Christmas tree that gets erected every year. Love strolling through this Mall every time we are in NOLA. I usually have to stop in the Tommy Bahama store and get something and my wife, the bargain hunter she is. Will always find great outfits on the clearance rack and walks out with hundreds of dollars worth of clothes for like $50. The perfume store is also a must to get some great cologne or perfume for a good price. A little disappointed that most of the eateries were closed but it is understandable with the times we are in right now. We did get a great deal on some artwork from a local artist on the 2nd floor just as you get off the escalator that went perfect with our New Orleans themed kitchen. Great day. read more

I purchased the Azalea Wang Faux Fur Panel Hooded Trench Black coat for $365.98, from a store named Upper Atmosphere in the Canal place shopping center, New Orleans. I was only in town for a short period of time, therefore arranged for the coat to be shipped rather than taking it with me. Upon returning to my hotel, without the coat I noticed online that the same coat was selling at Nordstrom's for $209 and other locations such as Akita for $159 with free shipping. I contacted Donte who transferred to the store manager Tiffany to see what options could be done, and was told that I can only do an even exchange or given a store credit; despite being charged around $200 more than it was selling at other locations. They told me that they purchased products, then marked them up to sell them. However, the amount that it was marked up was almost double. Due to being ADA disabled, it was difficult for me to get back to their location. A merchandise credit and the amount I spent on the coat without seeing the products in person would not work. I emailed the CEO Shattera Blackman and Rese Cliffman explaining the situation requesting for assistance. Due to not getting a response from my email, I went back from the French Quarter to the Riverwalk the next day to speak with personnel in person. It was a tough day due to my disability, but I wanted to hopefully get help, even with an in-store credit to make up the price difference. The staff was very rude, disrespectful, unprofessional; beyond anything I have seen in an upscale shopping facility. Jadeon the assistant manager stated that he would talk to owner to see if there's anything they can do, but he wouldn't do anything to help. They are the only location, and to my surprise were not even listed under the stores at Canal Place; despite them stating they had been there for two years. Jadeon said they have several employees and someone will take it to FedEx by time they close that day on the December 29th by 7 PM to ship it out and text me tracking number. When I never heard back, I texted for an update with the assistant manager in regards to the status of shipping. He was extremely rude stating that he would let me know when it is shipped. I called a week later and it still had not been shipped on January 4, despite being told that it would be shipped the Friday before. To protect others, from being taken advantage of as I have, I feel my experience should be shared. To this day, I have never received anything but negative attitudes and unprofessionalism from Upper Atmosphere. read more

Canal Place is the closest mall by the aquarium and Harrah's. It gives the impression of being high end, which isn't my type of mall. Frankly, it was so humid that I took cover in any indoor building. This mall grew on me. Sure, I couldn't afford to buy anything at Saks or Tiffany & Co. However, I loved the deals that I got at Francesca's Collections. I also took cover at the Theatres at Canal Place on the second floor by taking in a couple of movies and ate at Centre Deli in the food court. I was fortunate to have commuted using public transportation. I looked at the parking sign restrictions outside the mall, which seemed to be threatening! I'd come back to revisit my favourite places. This shopping center has too many High priced specialty stores for the area, like Sak's Fifth Avenue, Tiffany's, Michael Kors, etc. We know they want to attract the travelers from other states or countries who walk around the French Quarter, but for this area of New Orleans, it might be a bit too much. If it's high-end products and services you want, and you're in New Orleans, congratulations, you've found the spot! Products: As a mall (though I loathe the term, it fits here), there are all sorts of specialty shops. Price is, as noted in the intro, high, to go along with the level of products available. I find most of the stores not anything I'm personally interested in, but I can tell quality when I see it. There is a food court and cinema as well (separate review of cinema elsewhere), and the eats are decent, if not great. (4 stars) Service: I cannot much speak on the quality here, outside the cinema and food court, because I just don't frequent the other shops in this building. Service when I came across it was passable. (3 stars) Facilities: A multi-story complex at the foot of Canal Street near the ferry, it is an imposing architecture. The inside and out are thoroughly clean, from the floors to the bathrooms. Glass elevators expedite movement between floors if stairs aren't your thing. Signage is ample and you really can't miss the place if you're in the area. Parking is a little more tricky, but go around back, just before you get to the ferry launch. There is an attached parking garage with easy access to the building, a rarity in the French Quarter (yes, this is technically the FQ by street demarcation). (5 stars) Bonus: Make sure to validate your parking in the garage with one of the storekeepers. It saves money! Overall: Check the place out for the cinema or fancy digs. (4 stars) read more

This is an upscale mall at the foot of Canal Street that has an almost deserted look inside. The stores are usually at least partially filled with people shopping and working inside, but this is not the mall where you have your mall walkers. The food court has one kiosk, and it is near the restaurant for the Theaters. There is a gym across from the theaters as well. All of the stores are upscale: Mignot Faget, Coach, Macy's, Nordstrom's, Chanel, Anthropologie, Banana Republic and the like. The Westin Hotel is attached, and also has a bar/restaurant and a ballroom or two. This is a great place to do some window shopping, especially while your waiting for your movie time. My main complaint, besides the attached parking garage, is the stiff upper lip feel of the upper crust ambiance. Though it is always extremely clean and probably the safest area to shop in the French Quarter. It just seems to be kind of ripe to house some zombies during the apocalypse. though not as bad as Esplanade Mall. This would be home to the upper class Escalade driving zombies, with their 1.827 kids and the zombie nanny, with a dog. I don't think they would have a cat. I could be wrong. read more

Sometimes for fun I will watch the abandoned mall series on YouTube. Essentially a guy walks around a mall that usually has one anchor store (Macy's or Sears) and is entirely abandoned inside. Sad to say that was the vibe here, but Saks Fifth Avenue is the anchor store. We listened to a man playing early 90's mall music on a grand piano while searching for a place to buy shoes. Merchant options are limited and we were unable to find a pair of men's sneakers. This mall has an early 90s abandoned feel and requires a major update. I doubt this will happen because this mall's location is excellent. Similar to a bad restaurant that never closed because of its' vicinity to a beach, this mall never updated or closed because it is located in one of the busiest areas of New Orleans. read more

This is a terrible place to take your girlfriend if she has any sort of shopping addiction, and you have an aversion to amassing enormous amounts of credit card debt. However, if she is independently wealthy, by all means bring her here and turn her loose.* She will love it. It reminds me of The Westchester (in Westchester, NY) in that every brand that makes you laugh in disbelief at the pricetags is well-represented (Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Coach, etc.). Nearly every store is high end, and the service is excellent as well. If your lady is actually a fan of more reasonable prices, Francesca's is apparently the only option. However, they do have a few flattering dresses in there,** and the salesgirl is quite nice. For the gentleman, Banana Republic is around, and they have quite a large Brooks Brothers as well. I learned that Brooks Brothers doesn't just make boxy suits, but surprisingly nice shoes as well. Beware of the smoothie stand upstairs: they are 90% ice and should be completely ashamed of themselves. ___________ *And then head across the street to Harrah's to feed your own debilitating addiction. **Less so, now that I've gained a few pounds thanks to NOLA food. read more

The Shops at Canal is a nice middle-to-upper end mall right across from Harrah's Casino. If you win big at the tables, you can head over and blow it all here! It's not the biggest mall around - there are three floors but it doesn't seem like there's too much on the 3rd floor. For mass market stores, they have a White House and Banana Republic & for more upscale they've got an Anthropologie and Brooks Brothers. At the top end, there's Tiffany, Armani, BCBG and a very nice Sak's outpost. The mall was clean and wasn't at all crowded - I'm guessing that it's probably a different story during Mardi Gras or on the weekends. If you're visiting NO, it's very conveniently located on Canal right at the river. read more

Once upon a time, back in my Brooks Brothers days, I worked in an office on the 23rd floor of Canal Place for about a year, but that really isn't pertinent to the review. I seldom shop at the stores any more although I did get to play courier this past Christmas when I went to pick up a Louis Vuitton purse from Sak's and deliver it. That was a house mortgage sitting on my arm. The mall is clean, well lit and our visits are usually to eat at Morton's Steakhouse on the second floor. Morton's will validate 3 hours off your parking ticket. Which is a nice break considering the cost of the meal. The parking fees definitely discourage window shopping if you drive in. read more

A very nice upscale mall on the edge of the FQ. OK, upscale for NOLA. It has Saks, Pottery Barn, William Sonoma, Banana Republic, Mignon Faget, a Landmark movie theater, and Southern Repertory Theater. Oh and Rhino! Rhino is an artist consortium shop, great jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, etc. The food court is small and I usually just get a cold drink...I mean I can go to Sbarro's in the 'burbs. For folks who live in the city, it's a great alternative to fighting the suburban shopping malls. read more

Three levels of stores to shop at, connected to the Westin Hotel in downtown. I came by here this afternoon with my husband after we visited the aquarium. The Shops At Canal Place is an upscale indoor mall with Saks, Tiffany's, Anthropologie, Allen Edmonds and Chloe. There are also a few restaurants that reside here and a food court (restrooms are on the 2nd floor by the food court). There is also a movie theater as well. The elevator here moves really fast, I felt that feeling you feel when you are going down quickly in a roller coaster when we were going down. I thought this shopping mall was nice, but I wished there were more stores (even though there are 3 levels, there aren't a lot of stores in each level and are kind of further apart instead of all right next to each other at other malls that I have been to). If you are in the area, make a visit if you want to do some shopping. But don't make a special trip out here. read more
